Great tips...getting a cast right really helps and don't lose focus on getting the fly there. Lot's of people can't cast very well but they can get the fly where it needs to go.

Great, great video! One of my many struggles as a beginner was creep. You did a masterful job of explaining it! Well done

Thanks for great information! I have finally eliminated Creep, and start my cast with rod low, practice makes perfect..what a huge difference in controlling accuracy and distance. I also received my MRO Teton streamer vault (and hat). Love it! I loaded it with large saltwater streamers and will be on the Texas coast next week breaking em in. Good fishing to you all! 🎣

I used to lose a whole bunch of flies when I started out, because I was in such a hurry to make the cast. When you hear that snap behind you, you need to tie on another fly.

So on your back cast do you want your line to straighten out all the way before coming forward also what size rod and what type of line. Are you using thanks again your videos help out a lot

    • @Madriveroutfitters

Glad to help. Yes, you want it to unroll almost completely before you begin coming forward. Not sure what rod and line they were using. You can contact them directly at admin@madriveroutfitters.com or call the shop.

Mad River Outfitters well I was mostly thinking about the way you explain the tempo. It’s the same as dancing and music. Coordinate your movements smoothly so that you can make you fly dance across the sky in a perfect loop

After watching numerous videos and thinking I’m doing what I’ve watched, I went fly fishing for my first time today and I spent more time in tangling then I did fishing. I don’t feel that pausing was my problem as I felt if I waited any longer it would hit the ground behind me. I was having the split shot wrap around the end of the line half the time and having it wrap around the end of the rod the other half. Please help!

No matter what I do I can’t stop from hitting my rod tip with the fly line. I’ve tried shorter strokes forward and back, I’ve tried quicker strokes still the same results.
