- I LOVED the entire dart scene and ted's speech! I was getting so HYPED ABOUT IT. take that Rupert, wipe that grin right off your face. I'm happy Higgins stuck up for himself and we had some fabulous communication between Roy and Keeley and then of course Roy and the Diamond Dogs 💎 iconic. THE ENDING. omg, gave me chills, Keeley confronting Rebecca - is she going to tell ted? how is it going to go..... I'm worried... 🩶

That little monologue Ted gives is one of my favourite scenes from the show, it's really iconic! And I really love his advise 'be curious, not judgmental'

The actress who plays Rupert's fiancee is named Keeley Hazell and was the inspiration for the Keeley Jones character. She was Jason Sudekis' girlfriend at the time.
And also a writer for the show in season 3.

My favourite episode of Season 1❤ The Darts scene is the one that you show people how good this show is. The formation of the Diamond dogs, which runs till the end of season 3. Plus who had yoga with middle aged women going to a gay club on their Roy Kent bingo card? ❤

Ok, might have been wrong earlier, this might be my favorite season 1 episode.
There is a lot going on here. Diamond Dogs, Barbecue sauce, and Higgins sanding up to Rebecca all in one episode.
There are soooo many things to love about this episode! 🩶🩶
We knew really good things were about to happen. The show was swelling so much in popularity that CBS' "60 Minutes" did a story on it. They had to travel to the UK, Jason & the gang were shooting S2. They walked around some of the shooting locations, there was a fan with an AFC Richmond replica jersey (might still be avail at the WB online shop, I've got one). She had "Be curious, not judgemental" * tattooed on her arm *. So much fun seeing someone watch this thing for the first time, brings up wonderful memories!

@@ryannrodkey5669 Fun fact: The Richmond neighborhood didn't even have a football club (I've read elsewhere that they're more into rugby & cricket). The team is fictional. Saw an interview with Hunt where he said that they chose the neighborhood * because * of that. Didn't want to inflame any IRL rivalries while producing the show. Another example of their brilliance, IMO (my career was TV, I love stuff like that).

For the moment..back then we told non-soccer friends/fam that the show's really about personal growth, and that you didn't have to know anything about the game at all to enjoy the show. We watched it together..but kept having to pause playback because the non-soccer people watching with us wondered WTF we were laughing about when the 'Easter Eggs' arrived. Have you ever seen Jason's original NBC promotional vids made for the network's early days of getting the US rights to show EPL games? I still can't believe they turned it into a series - but I'm so happy that they did.

Honestly, while the Trent Crimm episode is my favorite episode, this one comes pretty darn close. I mean, that darts scene! I kind of think that's sort of the apex moment in the whole series for me. It's just such a fist-pump moment, with Ted schooling Rupert both literally and figuratively.
I couldn’t agree with you more! The Trent Crimm ep was incredibly but this was such a great one too! So many moments to adore! 🩶
Ted foreshadows what is going to happen to Rupert. Before they start Ted talks about those English cookies "Snookers" which is a game of pool, however in American slang to be "snookered" means to be hustled or conned. Ted knew before the match started he could beat Rupert, and dragged it out to the very end to make his point.
Poor Higgins was in a lose lose situation. He's got 5 kids at home, and he worked for Rupert. It was probably really hard for him to choose between keeping quiet and keeping his job, or telling her that her husband was cheating on her.
Exactly! How do we know he wasn’t threatened by Rupert as well? Higgins is doing his best 🤣🩶
