    Playlist to full series: ruclips.net/p/PLuJlFxNoN-hlhrqnldyruMqSX9J-OkSrR
Thank you all for your overwhelming support and love! It's a huge relief that everyone generally likes the video.
I took a huge narrative risk when I decided to explore the most hated character from OUTI2F and tried to make the viewer feel something for him. And I intentionally made it harder for myself, by dragging the most beloved character even further down. I consciously challenged myself as a writer, and you guys - the viewers.
It seems like a lot of you caught on to the themes that I wanted to telegraph, and it makes me especially happy given how convoluted the story is! Maybe someday I'll do a commentary and go deeper behind the scenes. But for now, I'll leave you with this series in its purest form.
I know it's not perfect, I might have bit off more than I could chew, and I was learning as I went along - but I did my best to deliver this story to you. And I am eternally grateful to have so many passionate and supportive viewers! I am very lucky to have people care for my work, and couldn't have asked for more. Much love to you all!

I'm glad to be here to witness history being made and to see this wonderful work that inspired me to make an SFM series all those 11 years ago to successfully reach the ending of its journey. I understand the struggles and just how difficult it is to reach the end of something like this, but once again, I'm very happy for you to see it finished, so that you can move on to new things. It was a pleasure seeing it being developed, and to also be a part of its history by helping you myself. It's come full circle - from a fan 11 years ago, to a someone who helped it reach the end today. Even if it was a rather small help, I'm just honored to be a part of helping it become a finalized work of art.
K.R, whatever happens, just know that the people who were inspired by your work and enjoy whatever you make, will follow you. You have incredible talent, and a good amount of us can see that. I do wish you gain wonderful growth from this last episode, but even if it doesn't happen as much as we'd hope, just be aware that a good amount of us will always appreciate and support you until the end. And I'm glad to be a part of that group.
Wishing you the best for the future to come!

Thank you for finishing this series. Ngl, at first I was thinking "Why is Pyro acting like this all of a sudden? Isn't he a bad guy? Why would he want to destroy the helmet now?". Then that ending (and a look back at the previous episode) made it all click into place. The Pyro and Scout essentially went through similar circumstances. They both became obsessed with the helmet after all/most of their team died. Pyro tried to 'replace' or sort of 'revive' his dead comrades using the helmet's power, unable to realise how he's tormenting their souls by not moving on. Scout became somewhat traumatised after his teammates' deaths, with the helmet further ruining his sanity. I guess after pyro's encounter with death in the last episode, it made him look back at his actions and realise the helmet needed to be destroyed, and to put his (and I guess scout's dead comrades) to proper rest. It definitely makes the 'Ghosts of the Past' title all the more fitting. A tragic story about both of them being lost in obsession, now finally being able to rest from the past.

To be honest from what I gathered from this story, it's the feeling of grief and lost but also existence, in a way.
How after death, we left something behind. Memories of who we once were. In death we become ghosts in people's heads.
It's cool seeing perspectives of how life and death effect other people throughout this series.
I loved this series throughout each episode I waited for, and I'm glad it finally got it's conclusion. You made an amazing story and it was worth the wait.

This is an amazing surprise as watching this series has always been a huge inspiration to me ever since I begun working with SFM myself. The storytelling, both vocal and _especially_ non-vocal are just unbeatable ever since the first episodes. "Behind the Mask" is my all time favourite for how loaded and cinematic piece it is and I will always come back watching the whole series again and again to scratch that itch for seeing sublime storytelling skills.

Leaving this comment before the premiere.
We've spoken earlier about this but I want to leave my message here in case you need to see it again someday in the future:
I remember seeing your serie before I met you and I still remember how it inspired me. It was the golden era of SFM if you will. I can't believe it has been already 11(!) years. This really deserves to be celebrated. Took you 11 years to finish this and you've made it man. No-one else but you! You've made it with sheer will, dedication and all this to also present us an ending to your serie. A fitting closure, I am sure. Respect and appreciation is what I want to give you. Be proud of what you've done. You've created something that many only dream of. There's depth, care, good story telling on this, attention to the detail...the list goes on. Even if you think it's not perfect (it doesn't have to be), it will be perfect as it is, with flaws or not.
I will savour this last episode and salute your effort despite all the severe hardships you've been through, with SFM being SFM, with the mocap misbehaving, with what's happening IRL...
    My congratulations to you, Kostantin!

That description is insane and... I mean please do not blame all misgivings and troubles with the development of this film as "your own fault". Sfm is hard to work with and its harder when you’re in a country in war. I respect your work highly and greatly, and I showed your latest entry in this series, episode 5, it to friends in a film class in my highschool as a masterful demonstration of tone, pacing, shot composition, lighting, and editing. My sfm works burn and die after a month. My brain either collapses in on itself focusing too deeply on the details or by simply loosing momentum to finish a project. From severe and crippling adhd, I "delude" myself into thinking that THIS project would be the one I finish I tell myself, knowing that 196 dead or to-be-finished projects are rotting in my file library, purely because of the hype that flows into my brain because of the joy an 'idea' or 'action piece' gives me, how cool it would be to fully execute in film or how awesome this joke or meme is. The short term gratification blocking, and animating initial shots, storyboarding progressions of plot give me are potent and deluding, I always grind to a halt knowing that to finish it would require 2569 times more unsatisfying work and labor than what it took to string up 19 seconds of lifelike animation. I have the skill, I have the talent, and I have absolutely no skill and no talent in applying them over a set amount of time. Animation is this truly evil thing where every second 48 minutes if your fast and 3 hours if you hate yourself. I know how much this takes, requires, needs. Every sane man here on the planet looks at your work and tells you that you should be proud, OR that your films have genuine artistic merit and value. I am not alone here, many, many people have said that to you about your work.
I have stopped using sfm, and have switched to blender. I am glad I have made this decision. I too am someone who is dealing with depression, and that description hit hard...
The second guessing, self hatred, self blame, deep sorrow for ones self and lifestanding. Wanting to delete your channel, wanting to delete yourself.
You are doing well buddy, its excellent work. Don't burn yourself out and make sure you have time for yourself. I hope you have a good future.

It actually means a lot to know that my videos are watched in a film class... I don't have an education in filmmaking, I'm just a film buff who learned some tidbits here and there. And it was always kind of embarrassing to be playing pretend-director with my silly videos... So it still amazes me that people get inspired by them! Thank you for your kind comment, @stanley8006 !
Also, I'm making baby steps towards Blender too. :) I want to make my next short TF2 video in it, but I'm still getting my bearings.

Hey, I've been following this series for a while after I found it when I was a bit younger. I think I was here when you started making "Ghosts of the Past". Anyways, I'm pursuing a creative career, so I understand the feeling of never being satisfied with the works you make. However, I hope you understand that many of the greats in creative careers (film making, music composers, artists, writers, etc) also felt the same about their works, and some even died believing their career had been a failure. I can personally name quite a few.
Even so, I hope you understand that we see the beauty in what you've made; that we, as your audience, are able to see the big picture with all its colors, not nitpicking over the direction of a single brush stroke. To be honest, I don't have anything to nitpick about. You've done a fine job, and this project of yours, even if you believe it small, is a cornerstone of TF2 Film.
Good job! I hope you enjoy not having this hang over your head anymore, cause you deserve it!

oh man, I really didn't think I would be sitting here crying over the ending when I watched the first episodes of this series :(
The worldbuilding in it was a huge inspiration for my own SFM series (still only consisting of the first episode lol but episode two is in the works) and even though I wont go beyond that story I wanna tell because I just don't have as much time to work on it as I used to, I kinda have an idea of the life of my characters besides the usual 2fort RED vs BLU fight (which I kinda wanna explore more but like I said time issues haha)

Hey K.R. I am so very thankful that you made this story and shared it with all of us, and am sorry with how you came to resent this that you created. I know you fell out of love, and making every episode must have been a stressful challenge, but please let it be known that I appreciate everything. From each episode to every frame.
Thank you for giving my younger self a story to look forward to, and solace as I grew up. I’ve watched and rewatched these episodes multiple times. I’ve stressed over the characters, smiled, and cried, and have sat at the edge of my seat on multiple occasions. This story was one of the first SFMs I ever happened across, and it really did cement my love of animation and inspire me. I thought well into the night about what ifs that spiraled into my own stories, that remain in my head to this day. I’ve started writing from that, tried some hours in SFM because of it.
You really have inspired me in ways I cannot thank you enough for, so I hope this comment suffices. Thank you so much, and I really hope that wherever you go or what you do next, you enjoy it.

What an amazing series this was! The 2fort videos were one of the first ones I watched when I got introduced to TF2 as a nine year old. It was nice come back to these a bit older once I understood the deep stuff better and now I'm turning 17. This series is like the Half-Life of SFM: Heavily focuses on realism while still remaining as a world of its own. I'm sure it wasn't easy to complete, let alone continue a series this old, as a writer myself it's hard to keep on going even on projects of your own. But just know that you inspired many on SFM and many like me about deep stuff such as death and grief. I know for a fact I'll be binge watching these this summer. Take in every little clue and try to understand the story better as I've watched these very far and between.

    • @HawkWall66
      @HawkWall66 7 месяцев назад

After binge watching this masterpiece, I realised something: Pyro didn't seem to want the helmet for power in this series, but rather to destroy it, as it was his mission from the start. Only in OUTI2F he was obsessed by the helmet's power, but after reincarnation, it seems he decided destroying it was for the best. As this helmet alone had ruined and taken the lives of many people, Scout and Pyro specifically. And as a writer, I with full honesty congratulate you, Konstantine, about your writing. The way you use show don't tell for most of the series and heavily lie on psychological conflict and trauma, it's beautiful how you made a better story than most movies these days. Be proud of yourself and your work!

Probably one of the best SFM series that someone like me had the chance to see and follow since its first video with the "Once Upon A Time In 2fort". The story-telling, the plot, the content, the animation, the background, the music used in each were the reasons that make this series very special, and even more knowing that with the passage of time each of these qualities have improved and evolved, demonstrating great commitment and love on your part K.R.

This series takes me back to my youth and sparkling eyes as I came across every SFM I could, especially during your entry and probably how most of us came to know you.
I came back again years later, seeing you work on the sequel to your first 2 parts.
And now I return, seeing your story finish.
I understand the same struggles you've faced when it came to story and animation. Some projects we unfortunately come to resent and wish to erase from our history, but fortunately good souls convince us otherwise and to continue to the bitter end.
So at least we may say that "Hey, we finished it, right?".
I am blessed to have been with you from beginning to end. Good luck to your future.

My friend, this series was fantastic. It’s hard to put into words exactly how I feel at its end. For one, I am happy that you were able to put this project to rest. I myself am a perfectionist and look mostly at the things I could have done better and not what I accomplished. Your work is worthy of many accolades in spite of the situation in your country, and the difficulties you faced while making this final chapter.
I hope that you are able to continue on to bigger and better things knowing that there will always be those of us who have an appetite for the art you produce. I dont think ive seen anybody make such a compelling story with the limited tools of source film maker like you have K.R. thank you for finishing this story. Every episode showed progress and got better and better. Ill probably come back to this time and time again as i grow older tbh.

What a way to end the series! The subtlety in facial animation and body movements really makes this feel like an award winning tv show or movie! I joined the TF2 community 10 years ago and your Once Upon a Time in 2Fort videos were one of the first SFMs I saw. It was amazing to see your progress over the 10 years I've spent watching your channel, and to see the conclusion to the series that helped me get motivated to use SFM all those years ago is so surreal. Thank you for taking your time with your videos man, this series turned out ever so better because of it :)

I only found this a few weeks ago
The subjects tackled by this need to be shown, and do little telling. And you nail the task outstandingly. Its a tough thing to turn the heroes of yestersay into the villans of today and vice versa and you manage it as well. This is so outstandingly high quality.
So happy this series has come to an outstanding quality end, and is no longer a mental burden on you. Can't wait to see what you do next

K.R., you have done an incredible job in telling one of the most heart-wrenching, bone chilling and sometimes endearing stories in the history of Source Filmmaker.
Thank you for the hard work and dedication. I can't wait to see what you have in store for the future.

I'm so happy I stumbled across this now! I can't believe the series is now over, I remember watching this years ago, the first two OUTI2F have always been a great inspiration for me! I'll have to go back and rewatch the whole series again now that it's been concluded.
Superb work as always, the fluidity and realism in your shots really added to the story. And I just love how you portrayed Pyro here, you get a great sense of melancholic regret despite never being able to see his face's expression.

Absolutely incredible! I remember when the first few came out, loved it then and have loved it since. It's been great watching this again and again as new parts come out, taking new things from it as I got older. The storytelling, animation, everything has got better and better. I think it was brilliant to focus on and humanise the pyro, and this ending brings real closure (very fitting for pyro to be shot in the same eye as the scout!). I did a couple of 30 second SFMs maybe 7 years ago, and I can't imagine the amount of time, effort and passion over years that went in to produce this. I'm sure this was a massive relief to publish, and I'm looking forward to anything else you might have planned.
I really think you should be proud of this series, regardless of anything like view count, those don't matter in the end. I know I've been personally affected by this, and I'm sure everyone else that's stuck with it has too. This is real art, and regardless of the TF2 medium, it helps people in real ways, so thank you :))

Thank you for making this series, Kostantin. For pyros redemption arc, this was fantastic, even though pyro did everything he can to fix everything, he still had to pay the price of his actions, and he accepts it as we should too, no matter how much we try to fix the problem, we'll still have to pay the price soon
Forgot to mention, the symbol of scout reaching his hand out to pyro out of forgiveness is honestly really heartwarming

All I can say is Damn, what a way to end the series.
Been following it since the Once upon a time in 2fort days and a journey it has been, I can only imagine your relief having finally ended it after more than 10 years. Having read your description I couldn't help but feel bad, this series truly was taking a toll on you.
Mind if I say I can relate, finding myself in a similar situation with a large scale project of mine, especially if it's something you work on for years, it becomes a burden that gets heavier with each passing month and eventually each passing year.
Honestly, kudos to you for sticking to your project till the end, you're a far better animator/filmmaker I ever could be, but you've always been one of my greatest inspirations within our small SFM world. You do you buddy, and from now on just try to have fun when working on a project, there's no pressure anymore!

This series had been so touching to me and has been a absolute joy to experience. You had me invested since the beginning and I loved every bit of it.
K.R. You have inspired me many times to make things of similar themes and quality for my own personal projects on other forms of media and platforms. Furthermore your work has held a special place in my heart and I understand to some extent your feelings of working on projects. Not everything will always work out when you have such great plans. In the end I hope your can feel just a little bit better that you finished what you wanted. Not everyone can finish what they start.
