Some people seem confused as to the logic as to why they were going to put the title on Edge if he won the vote but not Shawn. Here's the logic I see in it. Shawn no longer needed title runs at that point in his career. So if Shawn were to win the vote (which he did), it would make more sense just to keep the title on Triple H so they could start that slow build of Evolution's breakup with Triple H vs Batista (which again, they did). But if Edge were to win the vote, putting the title on him would at least make some semblance of sense because at that point, Edge was right on the cusp of breaking into the main event title scene anyway.
However looking back at the situation in hindsight, I think things worked out perfectly the way they did. I'm glad Edge didn't win that vote and ultimately, the title. The slow build to Triple H vs Batista was a phenomenal angle which gave Batista a fantastic push to becoming the main eventer he did. And in Edge's case, delaying his first world title run a little longer which ended up being his MITB cash-in is what gave birth to his Ultimate Opportunist gimmick so it worked perfectly in his favor as well.

HBK was injured and also, at that point iirc (don't quote me on this) he didnt want to be world champion anymore as he felt he didnt need it and also didnt want the added responsibilities/traveling/etc.

@@THEBIGJOBE Then they could've had Benoit win the title for a 2nd time & held until New Year's Revolution '05 where he loses to Triple H in the Elimination Chamber Match. Then everything goes back to the way they were. Btw, I was gonna mention Randy Orton considering that he was feuding with Evolution at the time but I forgot he was wrestling Ric Flair in the main event.

That was a cute little lie he told at the beginning. Only real fans will remember we booed him because he stole Matt Hardy’s girlfriend Lita in real life and he was hated while being a baby face. So they had to change his character. It definitely wasn’t bc he got booed randomly and said “okay let’s give them a reason” no you’re a scumbag in real life the reason was there.

The title of the video is a little misleading. Makes you think Edge was politiced out of the title. If the Taboo Tuesday voting was legitimate and he wasn't voted into the match (he would have won), I wouldn't say "robbed" is the right word. It's unfortunate, but not really robbed.

Not surprised, that little prep talk at gorilla before your match is the goddamn worst. Cause you know shit changes on the fly. I STILL don't like the fact that Triple H cheated Booker T at WrestleMania 19.

I can understand Vince's logic in this because I watched in all live leading up to that Taboo Tuesday. So whole back in early 04 most of the guys Vince wanted on top were gone namely Brock Lesnar and Goldberg, but he knew by a certain point they would be gone and he saw the reactions Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit were getting which at they time were great. So by Wrestlemania 20's end Lesnar and Goldberg are gone and Eddie and Benoit are on top, but the ratings, merch, abd overall drawing power didn't seem to be there. So Vince started to think where do I go he knew he couldn't go back to Triple H and needed someone else at first he thought Randy Orton who was great in the ring and could get heat, but wasn't ready for the mainevent hence why Randy won Summerslam and by Unforgiven the next month he dropped back Triple H. So Edge hearing if the fans wanted him in the mainevent Vince were would have put the belt on him because Vince knew he needed someone else but who. Ultimately that would to Batista which by the end if the Royal Rumble 05 the crowd clearly was behind him.
