I was able to catch both of Jelly's shows in SD last year. He lives up to how you would hope he is live. Or in person. He read a sign out for the rest of the crowd with lyrics from "She". There was a date on the sign. When he saw this person's sister had passed 8 days before.. he started crying. Full on cap over his face instantly. Have a good one, everyone.
Great analysis, Maggie. I love how he slides into and out of his growl, it's so fluid and natural. Another great song of his is "I am not okay". It's become my anthem. 💖
He didn't know he could sing till 2 years ago when a producer saw him sing a Bob Seger song at a karaoke bar with his friends. He was a rapper since 2003.
If you get to see some of the podcasts he has been on or his wife’s podcast called Dumb Blondie, you will hear his story of getting into the revolving juvenile jail doors. And over a several years he was in and out. His last escaped found himself being tried as an adult at age 15 years old. It was during this incarceration, his daughter Bailey was born. Jelly Roll enrolled his days into getting his GED and when he got released, he focused on his rap music and sold cd’s right off the spindle. He met Bunnie during a show he was doing in a nightclub. Jelly sang with his family but thought they all sounded like wounded cats. It was not until he tied to sing Save Me, that he found out he could sing but was very untrained. His following on RUclips started to grow quickly. As the info you read he quickly was becoming a new star on the rise. Find the clip of Jelly Roll’s acceptance speech at the CMA’s. Jelly Roll became a voice for individuals who struggle in life with drugs, alcohol and mental health issues. His released album Whitsitt’s Chapel is a solid album. He also was on a tour I think called Backroad Baptist tour, where he put on unbelievable relatable shows, winning so many fans. Watch that acceptance speech and the version of Save Me he does with Lainey, it is live at the CMA award show.
You should check out the version of this song he did with Eminem on Em's recent album. It'll make you cry. It was a dream of his to work with Eminem and he finally got his shot.
this is the first time of hearing this Jelly Roll and yes he was good. I enjoyed what I heard. But back in the 1920's and up to the 1940's there was another Jelly Roll (Morton) who played Blues influenced Jazz! Somebody you might want to react to.
Am I crazy or does every big white dude with a beard, able to sing their ass off? Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton, Kenny Rogers, Luke Combs, Oliver Anthony, Teddy Swims, Adam Calhoun, and even Post Malone when he actually sings......they could sing the phone book and it would still sound like Amazing Grace!!! Damn!!!
What was written about the song isn’t true he didn’t write it for bunny he wrote it for his fans. He wrote it recorded it and shot the video all in one day.
Hi There, love your honesty, you should check out Chuck Wicks " HOLD THAT THOUGHT " VIDEO A MUST and Luke Bryan "STRIP IT DOWN " VIDEO a must it's not how it sounds and Earl Thomas Conley " A WOMAN IN LOVE " TY
You are spot on. Live, he's clearly not as good as with studio production. He's far better than I will ever be, but, he's not as good as he sounds here. His lyrics are typically stellar, though.

I like his clear diction. It’s easy for me to understand his lyrics. I like.

Made me cry .. nuff said , I van relate before I changed my life and saw the light .
I finally made though this song with out crying that will never happen again
Most of his music is available live. He did this at the Country Awards live and was more emotional than the studio version.
I would love to hear him cover Black Hole Sun. He sounds like a country cousin to Chris.
Now that would be something to see
If I remember correctly, there is a live version with Lainy Wilson.
More jelly roll! Dude is amazing!
His live shows are great, his voice is about the same as in studio, no reason to bring him down
You should check out the version of this song he did with Eminem on Em's recent album. It'll make you cry. It was a dream of his to work with Eminem and he finally got his shot.
I was looking for someone who was going to make this comment.
You should check out Need A Favor by him.
I'm impressed with his singing and his journey from drugs and booze to a successful life.

If you want a taste of what he usually does/really can do check out "Son of the Dirty South" with Brantley Gilbert
There are several live versions of this and other of his recent songs that are available on RUclips.
Check out country road live with MGK and jellyroll

Eminem samples this song on his song Somebody Save Me, on his latest album.
What was written about the song isn’t true he didn’t write it for bunny he wrote it for his fans. He wrote it recorded it and shot the video all in one day.

The version he does with Laney Wilson is better.
Janel Nabong’s rendition, one of the very first, is better than Laney’s noteworthy cover for me.

His lyrics are typically stellar, though.
