But the key to us keeping the ball well is movement off the ball into space to receive the ball. Our movement is poor compared to many teams at the moment.
100%, I love our midfielder, I really do but if we want to get to the next level we need more players comfortable on the ball. Tonali still needs to get up to speed fitness wise but I hope he can bring that a bit. Our current three you have Joelinton who isn't the most calm player (bar the odd moment like today for the goal), he plays with his heart on his sleeve, super physical and loves the battles but he's not one to be composed and dictate the pace, Longstaff is maxing out his limited abilities and I have a lot of time for him but he needs a few extra seconds on the ball that he just doesn't always have, even Bruno with all his ability can be a bit frantic when our backs are against the wall. I think having better footballers at the back would help too though so Isak/Botman returning helps.

Building massive expectations among the fans and then producing nothing... I'm glad the Chairman was in town this week. He needs to fix the back-office divisions asap. Picking up points while we're not playing well is a great sign. For context we still won and kept a clean sheet playing with 10 men for 60 mins vs Southampton, we ground out a point on the road, and today in transitions we beat one of the best technical sides in the PL. We were never going to have allot of the ball against this Spurs team, they had so much more technical quality than us, so Eddie set up defensively to hurt them on transitions which we did and scored. Yes we conceded a calamitous goal but Eddie made changes to get another goal which we did so I'll take it any day HWTL
we all know we CAN play well, so let's just enjoy the fact we're getting results while not playing well like you say. I'm still entertained in many other ways even if the football is a bit dour. Seeing Bruno celebrate a tackle, watching Joe play a perfect through ball, seeing Pope pull off a top save after a few clangers. Some fans want to be entertained through the football and I get that but I think we need to remember how far we've come in recent years.
I totally agree with the professionalism angle. Especially with our owners being who they are. People in management roles set the example. How can you tell a player to be totally professional when you aren't? Also the owners haven't really invested yet. No new ground, no new training ground, no new costly infrastructure. It's all been cosmetic so far. I want the owners to show COMMITMENT. The last two windows have been shocking. They can't keep using PSR as an excuse especially with things that don't cost towards PSR. Manchester City are the exemplar. We are behind Leicester and we are three years into the new regime.
In terms of Eales, the Japan Karaoke event was good and you need that touch for the far flung fans who can feel isolated. Same with greeting people at kit launch as it is a sense of approachability rather than aloofness The Stack thing though at a critical moment of the summer window when people are on edge wasn't so good an idea, people want to think they are burning midnight oil.
Somethings changed, reduced intensity in training by new setup? Reducing impact on players chances of injury? It's showing on the pitch, different from last season when that setup wasn't here. Hope I'm wrong.
hard to know who does what and what mistakes were made, I'm willing to give Mitchell and Eales a chance - also happy to get behind Eddie regardless of any negative impact he may or may not have had on the recruitment. Eales comes across well in interviews and is now getting more attention and scrutiny with Amanda and Merhdad being out of the picture.
@@dddgtsd yes though Eales forced Staveley and Ghodoussi out by the sound of it,if Mitchell and Eales don't improve in the next window they deserve major criticism, they're certainly lacking the personality of the other two

That still may have been partly the case but they were great like you say, bags of personality and seemed to genuinely care but it's also worth remembering neither of them had experience working in a football club and it was only a matter of time before we starting filling up the exec roles with people with more experience. It's a bit ironic since they've gone the apparent guys with experience have ballsed up a window but...I also appreciate Amanda and Merhdad were around for the fun bit, the feel good vibes of the takeover, spending big money and now it seems we're having to weather the financial limitations a little bit and perhaps Amanda was more than happy to get out and be remembered fondly than have to deal with the hard times. Who knows what went on but we'll see...I remain optimistic in the long term and just happy to ignore the politics (as much as poss) and get behind the squad/staff.

That Egyptian bloke in the middle made some good points on Eales. Plus Amanda / Newcastle just got deals done with stealth - we've never done that before. This window has been played out in the open with full transparency and it's the second window we've done nowt. Eales stating we were fine with PSR then trying to flog off any talent to meet it. Then says it's a new cycle and sign no one. Agree with the Ashley style drinking with the fans bit - it''s not needed and is embarrasing. Plus he's dragged the squad to the other side of the globe twice pre season which would feck off Howe as it disrupts his preparation. I'm not in the know but is this the reason why there's not the same vibe at the club?
I think Eales is lightweight and that is shown by our limited progress in many areas: transfer signings, PSR fiasco, new / enlarged stadium, new training ground/new sponsors for significant new revenue streams etc etc
he seemed to be doing fine before when there was less scrutiny coming his way, without Amanda and Merhdad as the face I guess there is more focus and pressure on him and maybe he's not used to that. I like how he comes across in interviews though, doesn't sugar coat things (re: PSR and potential stadium name change). It's hard as fans to really know what goes on and who does what in those roles, it was a crap window but it's done now, I can 100% say who is to blame and why so I just get behind Eddie and the lads, what's done is done.
To play so poorly and win is great and hopefully all will click soon but I've never seen us having to defend so much at home a couple of seasons ago we controlled home matches

Eddie called out in his press conference, we are building momentum but are not playing to potential yet. Grit & determination and enjoyed the flags for Tonali. Atmosphere was good but it was very different from previous Spurs home games. No pressure on Eddie with how the transfer window and sense international break will help and we will have Schar back from the suspension. Good to have you back Liam
What a weird comment. We're all lifelong NUFC fans and former season ticket holders. I have covered NUFC as a journalist since 2016, so aye, been around a bit. - L
You can be realistic without doubling down on negativity. Do you actually think if after a win like that, a player hears you say that, they are going to fight for you? Liam, I swear, we are not Everton fans. Let's not become toxic ffs. We won against Spurs who are battling against us playing the worst we have under Howe. Back the team man. Why does it feel like people are looking to bring up the negative bollocks. We don't need it right now. I get being real and being journalists but considering our results, there is no way players would feel good about hearing this. We've gone unbeaten playing the worst we have under Howe.
If players are coming to RUclips for validation, then they have a serious problem. This isn't negative or criticism, just honest opinions on the topics of the day. - L
Eales’ style is totally irrelevant. It’s a results oriented business. If the club keeps winning, he could dress like a clown everyday and it wouldn’t matter one bit
Could you ask, when is this so called imminent dossier about the stadium and the training ground coming out. Also , I agree that eales should act more professional , instead of acting a like a clown.
I think darren else was brought in to do a job with the likes of journos and the geordies along with behinds the scenes.... why can't he be doing a thing with you and working on other things you don't see?
i think football has lost its way completely, it was about entertainment, now people are happy if the team wins regardless of performance. it is a results driven business but there has to be some enjoyment
Boring now. More about stats and money thank ffp, prs, the cabal and bad transfer decisions. Amanda et al ousted too. Pleases we won but that 2nd half showed us up
Of all the things wrong with football these days, I'm not sure fans being happy with a result regardless of performance is one of the biggest issue? Each to their own but that is something that has been common amongst certain fans regardless of all the other factors. I for one get different enjoyment from Newcastle games than say a neutral game, I couldn't care less how entertaining my own team is because I just want to see them get the result (good performance is a bonus). For example I'm entertained by the shithousing, the effort, every little tackle, seeing the guys I back every week pulling through to get the result. I am definitely happy regardless of the performance but like the lads said, we know they can play well on their day so winning when playing bad is a good thing in many ways. We've not been convincing but I'm still definitely happy with the results - got to take the happiness where you can because like you say footy has lost it's way with all the money involved.
@luketaylor348 so you watched the match fully? We were great in the 1st half and the 2nd half, not. I get the mentality a win is a win and great, but you know if you're a true fan, you hopefully would know that we needed re-enforcements in the past two transfer windows. It hasn't happened and shows a lack of ambition. Wait until the injuries come as they inevitably do.
@@GeordieJournos agree he’s fantastic, look at the parish thing..Eddie didn’t go off telling the world the crack. He also isn’t in stack jumping around to be ‘one of the lads’ fake crap

A and M didn't sell themselves sufficiently to PIF. Despite their obvious success, they are no longer here. Attacking DE for that is to ignore that PIF are pulling the strings. DE is here in no small part because his experience building a huge modern stadium and football club from nothing. Don't agree in the professionalism take but DE getting stuck comes with the territory if you going to get your geek on. Hopefully he has a stadium project to present to us in glorious detail which would go a long way to remind us of his corporate credentials. Let's not other him, he is on our side and so is Mitchell.

Ashley gave up his box, because he didn't like seeing Dom's font change above the east stands. Eales can do whatever song/dance he wants, after a cup/title win. 😃🖤🤍
I'm trying not to be too pessimistic but I think they need to communicate a bit now and maybe just settle some of the concerns the fans have. It's clearly not the 4/5 year plan they thought it would be. If we keep growing revenue and stick with Howe for this difficult period, I think things will look up. Be interesting to see what happens in January, transfer wise.

Cheers! - L
If we had bought a centre half, I doubt this rant would have happened. 😅
The piece referenced was written well before a centre back was off the table. - L
Why were you lads not around pre takeover? Cashing in on it
What a weird comment. We're all lifelong NUFC fans and former season ticket holders. I have covered NUFC as a journalist since 2016, so aye, been around a bit. - L
@@GeordieJournos No L lads. You cashed in
You can be realistic without doubling down on negativity.
Not for me. - L
Could you ask, when is this so called imminent dossier about the stadium and the training ground coming out. Also , I agree that eales should act more professional , instead of acting a like a clown.
I asked Brad Miller. No date. Just repeated imminent. And won't be rushed. He was very impressive btw. - L
Excellent before , that so called injury to linesman? Long time out helping spurs ,took the advantage away and Newcastle lost momentum
It did. - L
I think darren else was brought in to do a job with the likes of journos and the geordies along with behinds the scenes.... why can't he be doing a thing with you and working on other things you don't see?
He can. And I hope he is. - L
Slippery Eales
We want Darren & Co to deliver. - L
i think football has lost its way completely, it was about entertainment, now people are happy if the team wins regardless of performance. it is a results driven business but there has to be some enjoyment
If you don't enjoy it when we win, probably best to stop watching. If Isak squares it to Barnes we run away with it
@luketaylor348 so you watched the match fully? We were great in the 1st half and the 2nd half, not. I get the mentality a win is a win and great, but you know if you're a true fan, you hopefully would know that we needed re-enforcements in the past two transfer windows. It hasn't happened and shows a lack of ambition. Wait until the injuries come as they inevitably do.
@dddgtsd I agree with the money aspect. Used to be the working man's game. Now it's a buisness/corporate
Eee lads are just fans like the rest of us. Talk shite. It was a tactical masterclass from Eddie. This club is on the up .
Hope so. - L
Eddies human….Eales puts ok fake
Eddie is a proper pro. - L
@@GeordieJournos agree he’s fantastic, look at the parish thing..Eddie didn’t go off telling the world the crack. He also isn’t in stack jumping around to be ‘one of the lads’ fake crap
🙈🙉🙊
So negative Liam..... Weird tbh are you on sky / daily mail payroll?
Tactical masterclass from Howe today! So good without the ball. We were the best team in both boxes which is the main thing in the premier league.
Liam does not understand this and high level football!
Clueless tbh funny listening!
You think the fact they couldn't keep the ball or string passes together was on purpose?
@@dominicstar273he's just one of these weirdo's that can't accept that everything's not sunshine and rainbows 24/7 with the club.
Respect your opinion, even if I think it's rubbish. - L
Eales taking a selfie in the bed with the Sela Cup and The Diriyah Cup was absolute cringe!
Act like a CEO for god sake.
I want nothing more than this. Proof of the pudding is always in the eating. - L
saying It's been a terrible transfer window - makes it sound good!! Absolutely lousy - Eales is out of his depth - bettter at Karaoke - Eales by name and nature - Ashley twin - Mitchell has it wrong - look at those amanda and co brought in - by January it will have been a year!! Not good enough for nufc anymore - fans now being alienated, togethrness suffering and its on the pitch - hope the owners have flown in to get rid - and send Elaes to X factor - un professional waste of space
Ashley gave up his box, because he didn't like seeing Dom's font change above the east stands. Eales can do whatever song/dance he wants, after a cup/title win. 😃🖤🤍
😅
We were absolutely shite once again.
This takeover is stale and feels dead.
You're stale and sound dead.
It's not quite that bad. - L
Yalreet it’s the 3 Amigos😂the Notorious BIG🎉beyond them tho it’s pretty fragile, however credit to Murphy…he is full of effort and passion🖤🤍Eales clowning 🤡 around will get him a rollicking from PIF😮I’d like to hear your views on stadium 🏟️ move redevelopment or brand new one.
A good talker, we might look to address that one. - L
