We don't serve no goddamned trout.
So what don't you want?
Brian Henry Damn sure don’t want no green beans
Medium-rare T-bone steak, baked potato and an iced tea
yes mamm@@SairajRKamath
Sounds to me like Bridges and his partner are like Hank Schrader and Gomez from Breaking Bad
Exactly what I thought.
I had a collab class last year, and the teachers were like that (one was a male republican, the other a female democrat) polar opposites, but ultimately they were friends. Made for an awesome class.
That is EXACTLY what they are! My dad and I had the same thought.
Good point, Benjamin!
Felt the same way lol
I disagree that it's not replay-able I've seen this movie twice and I really want to see it again
Which is why I think it is replayable and he doesn't? U dumb?
Replay value is subjective, Chris clearly believes this movie lacks replayability which is why he said that, I can watch this movie three times, so I disagree with him. Which is why I commented I DISAGREE WITH YOU not, you're wrong and I'm right
+Jeremy Fisher You are arguing with him when he's basically agreeing with you..
+Brandon Bolen I agree, Lincoln is an underrated film. Everytime I watch it I appreciate it more
You're not alone. It's funny how most people find blockbusters with happy ending the most rewatchable, while to me, it's slow-burn thoughtful beautifully shot films that I enjoy more with each consecutive viewing. To each their own I guess
Not much replay value? Please stop Chris. This movie has fantastic replay value, and the movie wasn't slow at all. It moved extremely quickly.
Nah I'll just what till its on cable
opinions dude, opinions
totally agree with you. i honestly. liked it more than no country
totally agree with you. i honestly. liked it more than no country
totally agree with you. i honestly. liked it more than no country
I love Ben Foster. He was great in the 3:10 to Yuma remake.
That's one of my favorite remakes. Ben foster seems to play a lot of western/gritty characters.
U should see Ben Foster in Alpha Dog. That was really good.
You should also see him in The messenger. Two great performances from him and Woody Harrelson.
Not so great in that Warcraft film but he won me back with this
OneMinuteMovieReviews good lord that movie sucked. I was surprised to see ben in it.
This is definitely a re-watchable movie. I’ve seen it 3 or 4 times now
I'm not sure if I love this movie, or if it's just a breath of fresh air from all the shit that gets churned out of Hollywood. If we were living in an age of good film, this would feel very "competent", but instead it blew me away.
Very well put
Its because were in the golden age of TV, The best writers are writing tv shows, while the movie industry is now churning out superhero movies that are better than mediocre. I put the blame on Netflix and the internet, TV is now becoming more epic because of binge watching so tv shows are now like epic movies, think Narcos and Game of Thrones while Movies are focusing on mostly sequels and comic books.
+Dante Stanley I'm not even mad
Well isn't TV also focusing on comic books with shows like Walking Dead, Preacher, Outcast, Wynonna Earp, Lucifer, upcoming Tales of Crypt revival and all those CW shows? It shouldn't be bad thing as long as movie or show is good. Besides there are tons of movies that are based off novels or original ideas but still turn out to be bad anyway.
yeah but half of those shows fit into the epic category and are talking movie star talent too. There is still going to be "network tv" but there has been a trend where the writing and acting of tv shows has been on the up and up and Preacher and the Walking Dead definitely fit into this category.
Chris hasn't seen enough Ben Foster performances, apparently.
I bet he saw The Messenger. I thought he was mind numbingly boring in that movie
3:10 to Yuma and this movie are his best performances.
Lone Survivor? Movie wasn't that good but Ben Foster's performance was very good
Pandorum and ain't the bodies saints.
Seeing Six Feet Under should be enough to sell anyone on Ben
Stuckmann logic "I can't think of any flaws and everything was great. A-"
It's more of a degree of *how much* he liked the film as a whole than the level of perfection each aspect achieved.
IGN logic
Not enough Hell
to much people high on water
+Han Solo I am not 2/10 - not cod
I bet it was the country music.
No replay value and country music? Yeah, I'd say an A- sounds accurate.
I love and admire movies like this. This is a movie in which everything works. The script, the acting,The Direction
cinemaphotography and the pacing.
I should have known the brilliant writer Taylor Sheridan wrote this.
This film brilliantly displays what happens when desperation takes hold of a person and they have been financially
backed into a corner.
This is not only a great crime drama, but a reflection of whats currently happening with banks and land/home ownership.
Every scene in this movie works from the simplest conversations and flirtations,to an edge of your seat action sequence.
Every
actor nails their roles, high praise to:Jeff Bridges ,Chris Pine,Ben
Foster,Katy Mixon,Gil Birmingham,Christopher W. Garcia, Dale
Dickey,Kevin Rankin and Melanie Papalia.
There
are so many nice touches in this movie, one in particular in which a
character experiences elation for accomplishing something but is also
struck with sadness at what occured moments before.
I would gladly pay to see this film again.
Please go out and support this film because i think it's one of the best of 2016
Scale of 1-10 a 10+
Nah, Jonny and Mark from "The Room" are much better friends...
agreed. you could really feel the brotherly love.
So, how is your sex life?
+Confused Soul Confused
I didn't not hit her it's bullshit I did nhaaaaaaat oh Hi Mork.
Best friendship Ever ♡
anyway how is your sex life
Damnit Chris! When the Bough Breaks and the Disappointments Room reviews came before this?!! I guess you gotta crawl through a drain of shit before you escape prison.
nice shawshank reference
Specifically 500 yards of shit
thank u thank u thank u!!!!!! Been asking for this review forever.
Jesus Christ you're in the comments section of every fucking movie related RUclips channel 😂
I understand that reference
Just coming here to say this is one of my favourite films I have ever seen, and from a writer and director I have never heard of before, no less. It's such a special film to me.
Ben Foster has consistently been the best part of even crappy movies.
like X3 lol
..not in 3:10 to Yuma remake..he was so sinister in that one..
Lew Archer 1949 Hell or High water was good
Recently watched this movie on Netflix. I was absolutely blown away by the cinematography and performances. It reminded me a lot of no country for old men in the way it was shot and even some of the plot elements. Phenomenal film and one of the best I’ve seen in a while
I'm gonna guess A+
Such a yankee Stuckmann
"You'll never be done with this son, it will haunt you for the rest of your days.. but you won't be alone, it'll haunt me too"
That whole scene between those two characters was great! Offering him a beer when he wasn't even sure if he'd have to end up shooting him...
Chris Pine also delivers great performances in Z for Zechariah and Stretch. Check them out Chris!
Replay value is overrated. You don't go to the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa every month.
agreed. a shit movie like the room has high replay value. doesn't make it the best movie ever made though.
starkingbiker I completely agree. Schindler's List is a phenomenal movie, yet it's not a movie you're gonna play every week. Replay value should not be a factor when it comes to rating a movie. With that being said, this movie actually does have a high replay value.
very well put
This is the best film of 2016
my boy chris busting out videos every day
I think Ben Foster is way under rated. Amazing actor.
5 years later and I’ve probably watched this movie 20 times, replay value is definitely there. Also, Ben foster is amazing in this role, by far my favorite character.
Every time I watch I see new details easily overlooked
First clip I saw before seeing the entire movie was Challenger thug pulling up with "Hate Me" by Atilla playing when he started talking shit, only for him to brandish his pistol and get a proper beat down. That scene alone made me want to watch the film, and I am glad that I did. 😊
I absolutely loved this movie!! I think its a shoe in for the acadamy award for best writing, best original story and best cinematography!
Awesome movie. Started liking Ben Foster after Lone Survivor. He really is good. Chris Pine, love Star Trek but my fave for him is his character in Smokin' Aces. The Dude was amazing as usual. Good stuff.
It's official: indie and horror films are this year's best genres
Glad to see Chris finally got to this one. It popped up in my local theater a few weeks ago and I also went in with little to no expectation and was blown away. Easily one of the best of the year, so far.
Love your channel man, you've really gotten me, and I'm sure many others, to appreciate the art form more throughout the years than I have in the past.
Hell or High Water was my 2nd favorite movie this year
What the first?
The nice guys?
Same! Behind Only The Nice Guys.
They got it it was The Nice Guys. War Dogs was 3
Yep. Also War Dogs was #3
I laughed out loud when you said, "The grid," lol.
Glad you got around to reviewing this Chris!
My god, Chris is starting another series of reviews leading up to a future film!
Oh gee, a movie based in Texas that wasn't filmed there, just like every other movie set in Texas.
The filmmakers don't want to get shot, that's all.
Oh, and if it makes you feel better, No Country For Old Men was shot in Texas.
Half-Life Scientist Didn't realize that, figured it was California.
Same with There Will Be Blood. And that was supposed to be in California.
Tate Hildyard Get out of here, no way.
Can you please review all Quentin Tarantino movies and Jackie Chan movies?
I love how the movie shows how men show affection for each other. In stead of being mushy men just rag on each other. That’s how men show they care is when they poke fun. It’s something that seems to be lost in the modern era
I also loved that the movie didn’t hold your hand explaining things and left the ending open ended. The problem in most movies today is they try to answer every question. Leaving things unanswered just makes for a great film. It makes you wonder.
Great review as usual Chris. Love the way you talk about things. Love you!
The scene with Melanie Papalia was my fav scene. That was dope!
boo an A-, but give Civil Bore and Memepool A+? Fanboy.
nope. he just liked those movies more. simple as that.
shadow wolf those movies were horrible, he's a fanboy for sure. always gives overrated superhero blockbusters high ratings.
+UnbelievabIeMontages it's his opinion man. just because you say they're bad doesn't make it a fact. it's just what you think and it's just what he thinks.
shadow wolf he's a superhero fanboy bro, he gives 90% of every superhero movie high scores
+UnbelievabIeMontages because marvel makes great movies.
Excellent movie. Some amazing performances as well. Pine and bridges were great. Ben Foster was off the charts.
Finally you review the gem of 2016!
I hate the kids spamming FIRST
You said 5th soooo.....
Hunter Brown yeah I was joking 😂
Hunter Brown cuz it's so annoying
U wut, m8?!?!, maybe am a fucking 8 year old!, maybe I spam: FIRST COMMENT on every video I watch, but I'm still a human being
Tarkatan Santos ok... That doesn't change anything... We have comments for a reason.. Not to spam
I am really looking forward the moment Chris Pine becomes a top actor like Jake Gyllenhaal. I think the man deserves it.. Ben Foster too.
Finally Chris is reviewing this!
I love the background, its like the blue rays are glowing
Great Jeff Bridges impression. :D
They were making a shit ton of noise in your bathroom, eh?
Did they at least have the decency to flush?
Finally! Someone else who uses subtitles! I thought I was alone in doing that!
I'm surprised you haven't reviewed "The Light Between Oceans", after your love of Pines i thought you'd be eager for this one!
Like if Chris is the best movie reviewer!
I love him but I perfer Jahns's energy.
I didn't want to see snowden at first, but after Chris's review I now might see it.
Hes is, thats why I liked the video
HA GAYYYY!!!
I like Chris but YMS is way better
chris , can you tell us your opinion on the new fifty shades of grey movie trailer?
+Darewin Ocampo and flickpick...and all 3 of their best was Star Wars lol
Chris awesome review! Start again the hilariocity reviews! They are also awesome and we love them!!
It was definitely shot in West Texas. If you have never been out there....this movie does a GREAT job depicting how sad it can be. One of my favorite movies.
Saw this yesterday. Adored it!!
Country music is kinda great though.
It really depends on the artist. Just like most genres. My favorite musical act of all time is a country band, even though I'm not a huge fan of country.
The only country music that is okay is Johnny Cash
Other than that it's a piece of shit genre imo
Country sucks but bands inspired by country are great (Neko Case, Red House Painters, early The National)
@Zacchary Goddard, pop anything is dreadful.
If you want to see true country, listen to 'Big Iron' by Marty Robbins. THAT'S country.
love the way you dont reveal any spoilers chris it shows you are a true movie fan
thanks for the review. a friend got the blu ray for me today! I'm always Stuckmannized with your awesome reviews!
What do you feel about the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel, Chris? We all know you are excited
I love this movie. I just heard how great it was so I didn't watch a trailer and was better off for it. Ben Foster better get nominated for his role in the movie. I had no issues with Jeff Bridges in this movie and understood him perfectly. I've seen it twice and feel it definitely has replay value.
he wont. he isn't good enough. the actor with the best chance at a supporting nomination is jeff bridges.
+UnbelievabIeMontages Ben Foster easily did the best job in the movie. Bridges was really good, but his performance was definitely not Oscar worthy. Ben Foster will most likely get a Best Supporting Actor nomination and it'd be ridiculous if that didn't happen. Then again, Benecio del Toro should've won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in Sicario in a landslide, but that didn't happen either where he wasn't even nominated.
DanV900 i disagree, while ben foster was a scene stealer, jeff bridges was the best the whole movie. especially the scene after he kills tanner. you can see the grief and pain that his character is going through because of how good bridges was in that scene. i disagree about benecio del toro, although he was great in sicario, mark rylance deserved that oscar the best.
Bridges was great at the end but only in the end. For most of the movie he just kind of mumbles before he finally gets something to do. Foster is out of this world good in every single scene he is in.
Michael Colby bridges character is that way because he's an old worn out ranger..he doesn't have a family and the only way he can show affection to his partner in racial terms, and is devastated when he dies
It's about time for this review!!
No Country for Old Men was also slow paced but has replay value. I think I see what you mean though because a good pace can make something instantly rewatchable.
Thought Foster was awesome in 3:10 to Yuma
Totally agree. And in The Mechanic.
I also really liked Chris Pine in This Means War.
Just watched this movie, I loved it! This is such a great movie.
Saw this film yesterday, I found it awesome, great characters, great cinematography, great actors and directing.
And Bridges is fantastic
I just rewatched today. I love this film. The landscape is a character of its own. Chris Pine is brilliant. I’ve always loved Ben Foster, I feel he’s terribly underrated. Bridges is Bridges. Love 100% or Hate 100%. People don’t often feel so-so about him. I love Bridges. He could eat a candy bar with an out of tune violin playing and I’d find it high art. 😉
(Edit)Also, I’m really glad you did a video on this, it doesn’t seem to many reviews.
nice shirt....back on the movie ...9/10 the movie is amazing Ben Foster deserves an Oscar Nom
So why not a 10?
I'm guessing an A but I'm hoping for an A+
Okay I was close.
Really dont get why though... he had no negatives
He did say it has low replay value. I'm guessing it dropped to an A- purely due to personal enjoyment.
Matt Martinez Fair enough :)
I've watched it multiple times. I come back for the scene when he says, fuck you old man, These concealed carry laws are making robbing banks difficult. And of course the best scene when he shoves the chip up the hookers hoohah and says call me.
Holy crap Chris, you're uploading so much good stuff :D
This is hands down one of the most consistently perfect films I have ever seen. I have trouble finding a good comparison for it to describe the pacing, quality, and energy. To me, it felt like watching the final standoff in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," expertly contextualized, high tension, steady atmosphere, and a showdown of clever badasses. After watching this movie for the first time, I had some lunch, mentally processed the film, then immediately skipped class and watched it again.
This is without a doubt among my top 5 favorites of all time.
And even if the rest of the film doesn't hold up for you, the final 5 minutes were inarguably flawless.
No country for old men is the only somewhat comparable movie I can think of
"He's the dude" nice one.
Slow paced? It went by pretty quickly for me.
Same
Chris is crazy. I immediately wanted to see this movie again. And while it does have a pace that takes its time, it's not slow to the extent he say it is. It has a lot of intense scenes, and actually a fair bit of humor.
This film in a bizarre way, is almost like an accessible No Country for Old Men. It's very smooth and goes down easy.
Also how can he not be a fan of Ben Foster? Yeah he's had some bad flicks. But he's a phenomenal actor in many of the films he's in.
the real antagonist in the movie are the banks: its implied, when Toby's mom was sick they took out a loan against the family ranch in terms of a reverse mortgage and defaulted on the loan, owing including unpaid property taxes of 43k. Since theres oil discovered on it Chevron had interest of owning the land and paying a royalty, unfortunately due to this unpaid debt the banks own this land and are finalizing the foreclosure process. Toby uses a lawyer to create a "phony family trust" to hide the bank robbed money and make cheques from the trust to pay the banks. Thats why in the last scene the banker was very hesistant to process the lease of lien, because by delaying it, can cause him to miss the deadline and banks take possession. After being released by the debt and ownership is transferred, Toby creates a trust with the very bank they robbed to deposit some of that royalty. The banks had every opportunity to reveal Toby's motive by mentioning
Tobys foreclosure, however maintaining the trust was simply profitable, regardless of the lives killed. A subtle way of explaining banks forcing pples hands and fighting back.
I agree about the emotional richness. I just didn't particularly like any of the characters in this movie. All the actors did a good job, but I found it hard to decide who I should be rooting for because anyone could've died and I would have been ok with that. Except for the waitresses. Love 'em. I have a longer review up as well, but I think in summary this movie was well-crafted, but a little slow in the middle. Great review as always, Chris!
I ended up not rooting for anyone, but understood both sides. The real villain is actually the nature of poverty. What it does to the lands and to people.
If you haven't seen Hell or High Water, a score of A- is what I would consider low for this. It's deserving of an A or perhaps even an A+. I'm not trying to trash Chris for having an opinion, but I'm just saying. It's one of my top 3 favorite films of the year right now.
not true, i'd rate it lower than an A-, but Chris is an obvious bias superhero fanboy. He gave two of the worst movies of the year A+.
UnbelievabIeMontages Are you drunk or just trolling? Stuckmann's A+'s are Deadpool, Civil War, and The Nice Guys. All fantastic movies. Which two are you calling the worst of the year?
+UnbelievabIeMontages last year, we got Ant-Man, Age if Ultron and Fant4stic. I don't remember him giving any high scores for those. He didn't even give age of Ultron or Ant-man honorable mentions. Also he was not impressed with BvS or Suicide Squad. Not to mention The Killing Joke...which is based one of the best graphic novels of all time. He clearly even mentioned in his Civil War review a lot of the sequels in the MCU were basically mediocre...so you're statement of him being a non-sensical superhero fanboy is just plain stupid...
Sherhan Mahmud he gave Ant-Man and Age of Ultron B+, but even those scores are too high. Especially Age of Ultron, that movie is just complete fucking garbage. BvS and Suicide Squad are worse than what scores he gave them. Yet, he still gave those movies a passing score. Remember when he gave Thor 2 a better grade than Thor 1? Also, he gave Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3 B ratings, which are too high. The Avengers gets an A+, that is a 4/10 movie at best. The only RUclips reviewer ill ever trust is Adam/YMS. He is one of the only few people who aren't blind.
UnbelievabIeMontages Im actually not a fan of Avengers either. And calm the fuck down lol. He didn't say others were amazing or anything. And his opinion has changed on some of those movies. To BvS and SS, he was just being fair lol. He was pretty critical towards those two. He said they were dissapointing lol...what more do you want?
I loved it, partially because I love spending time with the characters, which is something this movie did really well. When the action breaks, it is not a let down. Like you said, we are emotionally invested in the characters, which makes the action scenes and the climax much more personal.
I personally do see myself watching this movie several time, and I hope it's nominated for Best Picture. One of the things I look for the most in movies is the fleshing out of characters, the conversations between them, their motives. Which is why the slow pacing of the film didn't affect me at all. A lot of the movies I love are what you would call "slow paced."
It's a 98/100 for me. So far, the best movie of the year.
So if you are going to watch "Rings"...then have you watched or do you plan to watch "Sadako vs. Kayako" aka 貞子 vs. 伽椰子 aka Ring VS Grudge..?
Alot of Mexican jokes in this movie. I know somepeople might get offended. I really didnt mind it, i found it funny.
Prob b/c you are not Mexican.
Im Nicaraguan born and raised but living in SF. !!!!
+Sharingan Lord Nice man, Mexican born and raised. Idgaf about jokes tbh but some pussies do
Sharingan Lord I didn't get offended at all. It was all in good context.
I didn't like it or the Native American "jokes" like its over fucking done in these westerns. Can we move on? 🙄
Wow I actually saw the movie before his review...that's never happened lol
The ending was very well done as it was comforting to see how things kinda went even though it's vague it is conclusive and this movie was very down to Earth on the script and each moment seemed real it was like watching a movie shot documentary and pacing seemed perfect and was very well done overall and this is coming from a guy who isn't into dramas but very much like thrillers.
love the reviews chris, keep up the good work :)
Best Movies of 2016:
1.) Sing Street
2.) Everybody Wants Some!!
3.) Hell or High Water
4.) Eye in the Sky
5.) Captain America: Civil War
6.) The Nice Guys
biggest surprise = 10 Cloverfield Lane, The Shallows, and Don't Breathe
still want Chris to review Sing Street! Best movie of the year no doubt
Too bad Sing Street was shit.
Sing street is a fun, good movie but I have no clue why everyone sucks it's dick like it's a masterpiece.
Respectable list. Sing Street may be my number 1 as well. Green Room was an incredible out of nowhere film as well
Hey Chris! I think you should review this movie called "Train to Busan." Its a korean zombie movie. Its like World War Z 2.0. I think you're going to like this movie a lot. Please review Chris!!!!
It*
Subtitles?
I saw this film at Cannes this year. It was great! Really enjoyed your review Chris!
About time he did this one! I actually saw this one before he did!
Was anybody else as underwhelmed with this movie as I was?
You should reviews on porn vids🤔✅👍🏻
It's about damn time you review this movie!
The Dr. Pepper/Mr. Pibb line at the end of the gas station scene shows Taylor Sheridan's attention to detail. In Texas, Dr. Pepper is second only to mother's milk, but as soon as you cross the border into Oklahoma, Mr. Pibb reigns supreme. Foster's disappointment with Pibb is a line that cements a Texans' spirit. It's a superfluous line, but one that showcases Sheridan's talent with characters and world-building.
don't get the hype for this film
An A- is a joke! This was a slow as fuck film with very little happening and that's not surely it's charm, is it? Everything about it was average and giving it a rating in the A range is putting the film up amongst many classic films. Did anyone leave the cinema thinking they'd seen something really good that they'd love to watch again? Not mean. Bland melodrama kate-night TV movie territory for me.
Not so long ago I watch The Revenant and I left the cinema feeling empowered and visually satisfied and fully entertained where this just left feeling financially short-changed. Sure, they are different films, but this one did nothing to entertain me like a film with heists should.
I am drunk now so this may not all make sense 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Andrew Watt This film was highly superior to the revenant. Hell or High Water has the same elements that made Taxi Driver amazing. Taxi Driver is also one of the top 5 greatest movies ever made, so it getting a grade in the A range is absolutely spot on. Did it have any performances close to DeNiro's Bickel? No, but the sure conciseness of the film played like Taxi Driver. It didn't mock the tones of greatness like a Titanic or Forest Gump, but harmoniously flirted with the lines of Originality and Homage. To say Hell or High Water isn't the best movie of 2016, or better yet, one of the sleeper movies of the last decade...is a pure statement of ignorance. Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine, and Ben Foster were never on the screen at the same time...it was a masterful cut of the three main players. David MacKenzie, a small director, played his cards correctly and Cinema is better for it.
Was just reminded of this movie. I loved it. Great review.
Does anyone remember what the t-shirt website Chris had a sponsorship from some time back is?
I have watched a lot of Chris's reviews and I personally think he's far too generous with most of his reviews. I found this film far too slow and the first 45 mins was way too pedestrian to the point I was really loosing interest. I've gone off films shot with the camera on the tripod as find they look too slick and not as engaging or real life looking as off the camera films. I thought this film looked okay but it wasn't as magnificent as Chris says and the acting is solid acting but nothing special.
Sorry Chris but this movie was completely average, nothing special
Chris, you are aware that that time of year is coming, when you have to do bluray collection, right?
finally you are reviewing this. Awesome.
My favorite film of the year so far! Thanks for reviewing, Chris!
thanks for reviewing this been asking for awhile and you came thru. movies like this need more attention. a break from all the same old stuff they been putting out here lately. some old school good acting where you actually feel something from the characters. thanks again you rock chris. Now if we can just get jermy to do a review on it as well.😉
So if Stuckmann can review films this late, then I shouldn't feel bad about missing some as well! Reviewed this weeks ago!
Thanks for not spoiling anything. Seeing this on saturday, can't wait!
