Crisis Rhymes great without Emily blunts character. I understand why she’s there but she gets too much in the way of the film. Completely fixed in Day of the Soldado in my opinion.
I recently saw Hell Or High Water because Jeff mention it and i became interested i enjoyed it now am learning there are more of this stories am excited and want to see them all!😀🎥
Probably the most important person in Hollywood right now. His writing/script hit people in the feels. Please don’t sell out and continue to write materials that people can relate to
Wow, this guy is building a great writing career. Sicario and Hell or High Water, which I think is the strongest script of 2016. Plus he was great in Sons of Anarchy. Actually he shame he doesn't like it, because he's good. Hopefully we'll get more unique scripts now though, between all the superheroes punching each other.
"Between all the superheroes punching each other" hold the phone, Logan and BvS (Ultimate Edition) have strong scripts in the comic book movie world. Its opinion.
He's building himself a pretty damn good resume to start his career. This and Sicario are both great movies can't wait to see his directorial debut coming out this year
Taylor was a friend of mine in HS. He was an incredibly nice guy back then, I'm sure he still is. I just don't understand why he changed his last name. I reckon Gibbler wasn't Hollyweird palatable.
Probably to start anew as a blank slate for Hollywood. I don't know Taylor personally at all, but, I know enough of his story and enough about Hollywood to know that it might be possible. Hollywood's a tough industry, and sometimes just a name alone could give you trouble because alot of the times, they look for something specific.
That is very interested. I could not find any info about the name change. His mother has the last name Smith, but father is listed as Sheridan and his brother John Gibler.
I normally can't stand to hear artists talk about their work - I prefer to let the work speak for itself - but this was interesting. I gave this a listen because HHW was one of my favorite movies of the last 10 years. I lived in that area of the country for a while and it gets under your skin - Sheridan nailed it.
I’m glad he’s like that and I feel the same way. I always laugh to myself whenever a character has to tell their partner like “you’ve been my partner for 7 years” when nobody else is around lol. It’s just so awkward.
I'm not a big Yellowstone fan but he's certainly struck gold with that show. Not just the ratings but the videos sales are insane, plus the spinoffs. Cha-ching!
I wish more people were allergic to exposition. Imagine superhero franchises that didn’t have to “reboot” themselves with an origin film every. single. time.
Yeah but the constant f bombs and over confidence of that character is annoying. I’m a outdoorsman and live a similar life to his character. We are mostly quite types of men that don’t say a bunch of meaningless crap
I'm looking forward to the full, one hour version of this roundtable with Taylor Sheridan, Tom Ford et al. Would you please tell me when that would be released?
What a phenomenal transition this guy has made. I assumed when he left SOA he'd be one of those former semi-regulars who'd disappear into the ether. Makes all the sense in the world to me now...he probably wanted to leave to pursue his true passion in the industry. Well done, Taylor.. please hire Charlie Hunnam or Ron Perlman for your next project!
I can see why Taylor Sheridan is writing instead of acting...he is one great example of a writer who should stay in his lane. I wish he would write his current character out of the show Yellowstone...because i think his acting in the show is so subpar compared to the other main actors.
Just another random person on the Internet exposition is inevitable especially with tighter budgets and rewrites. But I feel he means to limit as much as possible especially compared to TV where it's insanely ingrained in episodic work
Just another random person on the Internet Sheridan means that he hates "in your face" exposition, TV shows, especially procedurals, do that a lot. That's why he masks exposition in a way to be natural, that it would make sense for character to say that.
Or maybe you're the one drooling and are projecting your own horniness onto those two guys (who literally did nothing conspicuous enough to convey affection for Sheridan).
This table is extremely 'Stare'y' like chill out guys. That interviewer was creepy AF. Make the guest more comfortable and stop staring so hard FFS. Tom Ford just trying to absorb inspiration and charisma from others right there just chill too
I think what Taylor is saying is that he's "allergic to exposition" by way of dialogue, subscribing to the notion that a character is best defined, not by what he says, but by what he does 🤔
Allergic to exposition but Jeremy Renner's conversation with Liz Olson in Wind River about his daughter was directly to the audience. That's some beefy exposition. Otherwise, how would we know what happened to her? I guess he felt the audience needed to know. But Taylor must've broken out in hives writing that.
I enjoy Yellowstone but the writing can’t touch some of the better shows like Succession or Better Call Saul. It’s a fun ride but getting more and more ridiculous. The pace of the show is unsustainable. If it wasn’t for few Golden Beth moments my husband and I would have stopped watching.
1. Sicario
2. Hell or High Water
3. Wind River
4. Soldado
5. Yellowstone
Not missed a single one till now.
What’d you think of Sicario 2? I have yet to see it.
Crisis Rhymes great without Emily blunts character. I understand why she’s there but she gets too much in the way of the film. Completely fixed in Day of the Soldado in my opinion.
Yellowstone blows Soldado put of the water.
Hope he'll grab an academy award...
I recently saw Hell Or High Water because Jeff mention it and i became interested i enjoyed it now am learning there are more of this stories am excited and want to see them all!😀🎥
My boy Officer Hale made it
Hahhahaha, good comment. Go, Officer David Hale
.
😂😂
After being told by that creator and writer he will never be more then 10 on the call sheet. Well FX and Sutter look at my boy now!! I love karma
had no idea he wrote sicario...talented dude.
He aint no dude... hes a MAN
this man is an Ace on the writing ground, Wind River cement again that Taylor Sheridan deserves success
Gerbravery12 absolutely. Three movies, and all three are in my list of favorite movies ever. Man is genius.
Wind river was...brutal. A vicious movie. Just human desperation.
This movie has a great cinematography.
Probably the most important person in Hollywood right now. His writing/script hit people in the feels. Please don’t sell out and continue to write materials that people can relate to
I agree integrity matter's and Taylor Sheridan is a better writer then actor
'I stupidly at 40 decided to start writing...' it's never too late
Wow, this guy is building a great writing career. Sicario and Hell or High Water, which I think is the strongest script of 2016. Plus he was great in Sons of Anarchy. Actually he shame he doesn't like it, because he's good. Hopefully we'll get more unique scripts now though, between all the superheroes punching each other.
Helgard Werner sicario was awesome
Barky Von Schnauzer I don't agree, I think Wind River is as good as two other films, if not better.
"Between all the superheroes punching each other" hold the phone, Logan and BvS (Ultimate Edition) have strong scripts in the comic book movie world. Its opinion.
Lennie Binale BvS UE has strong scripts? Not at all. Don't be a fanboy. Logan us awesome but BvS is not a masterpiece like you think it is.
A year old, but to be fair, infinity war was actually pretty solid.
Wind River is the most underrated film of 2017. It's such a visceral and important movie. Practically no one talks about it.
most underrated film of the last decade
I actually think it’s better than sicario personally.
FACTS!!!
Agreed.
I’ve loved every single movie this man has written. Not an exaggeration at all.
He's building himself a pretty damn good resume to start his career. This and Sicario are both great movies can't wait to see his directorial debut coming out this year
GoBuckeyes554 Wind River is so good.
protect this man at all cost Hollywood. he's a treasure to cinema.

How to nail the "Look-Interested-But-Also-Sophisticated-Douche-Look"
I didn't even need to skip back to know who you're talking about
Lol the guy just oozes insecurity
My man is a genius he genuinely inspired me to write when he makes amazing but simple dark stories like these
Tom Ford sitting there like...."yeah i would"
Taylor was a friend of mine in HS. He was an incredibly nice guy back then, I'm sure he still is. I just don't understand why he changed his last name. I reckon Gibbler wasn't Hollyweird palatable.
:=o tell me more
Probably to start anew as a blank slate for Hollywood. I don't know Taylor personally at all, but, I know enough of his story and enough about Hollywood to know that it might be possible. Sometimes someone in sag could have the same name or last name .
I HOPE this movie wins something this year. It's really fantastic!
The best writer. Just discovered yellowstone, only to realise he wrote sciario which I love.
After watching Yellowstone and 1883, hes been amazing in telling a story. 🤘
This man is amazing what he has written in recent times I very much enjoy it
Wind River is the best movie since mystic river for a dramatic suspense
I normally can't stand to hear artists talk about their work - I prefer to let the work speak for itself - but this was interesting. I gave this a listen because HHW was one of my favorite movies of the last 10 years. I lived in that area of the country for a while and it gets under your skin - Sheridan nailed it.
That's the guy from Sons Of Anarchy. I thought he looked familiar.
Monk Bop Get the fuck outta here! That sheriff!? Jesus what a talented individual!
I am proud to say he shot Hell or Highwater in my hometown. Such a masterpiece
I’m glad he’s like that and I feel the same way. I always laugh to myself whenever a character has to tell their partner like “you’ve been my partner for 7 years” when nobody else is around lol. It’s just so awkward.
"Say, Mark, how long have we been brothers?"
loved him in sons of anarchy
His deep voice 😮👏
Awesome, I love this interviews. Screenwrittens are usually "overlooked"
Much like your spelling
Amazing vision on how to tell stories. Masterpiece.
Taylor is fucken awsome still really saddened by him leaving SOA Hale was still one of the best and one of my favourite characters in the series.
He has the perfect touch in the movies and characters !👍⭐️
I loved, loved, loved this movie. If you haven't seen it, you must.
That was a very well written, acted, and directed movie, very well done.
Arthur Morgan in the flesh
Greatttt movie....love me some Taylor
I'm not a big Yellowstone fan but he's certainly struck gold with that show. Not just the ratings but the videos sales are insane, plus the spinoffs. Cha-ching!
why dont you like it?
I love Yellowstone
I wish more people were allergic to exposition. Imagine superhero franchises that didn’t have to “reboot” themselves with an origin film every. single. time.
Dude writes the best one liners and it makes sense when you see the headline
He makes a great cowboy in Yellowstone. _Chiseled features, and he's a natural on the back of a horse._
Yeah but the constant f bombs and over confidence of that character is annoying. I’m a outdoorsman and live a similar life to his character. We are mostly quite types of men that don’t say a bunch of meaningless crap
This is one of the best bromance movies of all time
“I’m allergic to exposition” is itself an expository statement.
This guy is just awesome
Excited for his next one Those Who Wish Me Dead
Great writer
I! Want! Full! Video! Now!
He is an amazing writer. And with Wind River he showed he is an amazing director.
I loved that movie.
So much talent doing script and directing, this guy has a brilliant future.
Taylor Sheridan is the king of the neo-western.
he look alike thomas hidden church!
He found his calling !
great movie
I can't wait for all his series with Paramount. They should be great.
he is hot to!
For my money Hell or High Water is one of the best movies of the 21st century.
I'm looking forward to the full, one hour version of this roundtable with Taylor Sheridan, Tom Ford et al. Would you please tell me when that would be released?

Reading your comment has brought a tear to my eye... true, so many actors from my favorite childhood shows have disappeared into the ether.
What a boss. Yellowstone is one of the top 5 shows out there bar none. This man is a genius
I can see why Taylor Sheridan is writing instead of acting...he is one great example of a writer who should stay in his lane. I wish he would write his current character out of the show Yellowstone...because i think his acting in the show is so subpar compared to the other main actors.
Barf - Stephen Galloway is back with THR.
Taylor is a terrific writer. I would like to play in a movie of his. I think that I might be the guy he's looking for. AKA Dartanyon.
D'artagnan
Taylor Sheridan presents an unwelcome contrast to lots of insecure screenwriters.
When does the full video on the writers roundtable go up??
damn, sheridan in person is quite funny too, in an honest way. and his humor is darkly and superbly superimposed in some of the scenes in his films.
The Seasons of Yellowstone Need to be Longer
He was the cowboy the Texas Rangers encountered, moving cattle across the road.
The guy looks more like a Hollywood actor than a Hollywood writer.
Brilliant man, I hope notoriety wont ruin him
I swear if this movie doesn't win a globe or an Oscar...
Is there not a full video of this roundtable?
Yeah I feel you Taylor. I also hate exposition.
He was great in the Sons Of Anarchy too.
Thomas Hayden? Lol
Mike Lowrey looks like him but older
Can anyone link to full video
Jeff Bridges Rules!
@The Hollywood Reporter Would you please upload the full, one hour version of this roundtable with 2016's best screenwriters? Thank you!
Where's the full video?
For someone who doesn't like acting he's doing a bunch of it first few episodes of Season 4 Yellowstone.
That's probably because he gets to ride horses. I think that's his hobby.
As a writer for a movie or a TV series or a book you have to do your own way
Dude, Sons of Anarchy is one of my favourite shows (top 3). I didn't recognize Mr Sheridan as David Hale. Far out
But the film did have some expository dialogues.
Just another random person on the Internet exposition is inevitable especially with tighter budgets and rewrites. But I feel he means to limit as much as possible especially compared to TV where it's insanely ingrained in episodic work

Amsheel The only expository stuff I remember from HoHW was little stuff like Tanner calling Toby “little brother”.
Из присутствующийх, Тэйлор, самый достойный человек.
If that ain’t Texas--I don’t know what is ? Great writing
Lol. Ford and Almodovar are drooling over Sheridan. Almodovar even had to put shades on.
Or maybe you're the one drooling and are projecting your own horniness onto those two guys (who literally did nothing conspicuous enough to convey affection for Sheridan).
Did this guy write Sons of Anarchy? Because Yellow Stone is basically Sons of Anarchy with cowboys
He’s in YELLOWSTONE NOW.. lol 😂
I mainly know him from Sons of Anarchy and Yellowstone.
Christopher Nolan: Hi, Taylor
Taylor Sheridan: *dies*
This dude has the looks to be an actor, was an actor, but doesn’t want to be one. Strange
what about that scene with Josh Brolin and Emily Blunt in the raid?
A more pompous panel has never been gathered.
Tom Ford is enamored, besotted.
This table is extremely 'Stare'y' like chill out guys. That interviewer was creepy AF. Make the guest more comfortable and stop staring so hard FFS. Tom Ford just trying to absorb inspiration and charisma from others right there just chill too
I think what Taylor is saying is that he's "allergic to exposition" by way of dialogue, subscribing to the notion that a character is best defined, not by what he says, but by what he does 🤔
wow he's sitting at this roundtable, and probably none of them know, he's not even really began his writing career at this point.
CHRIST is the only way to heaven 🙏❤️🙏.
NiceAutumnDay sometimes you just have to buck down and hold them by the hand
is that tom ford?
I enjoy Yellowstone but the writing can’t touch some of the better shows like Succession or Better Call Saul. It’s a fun ride but getting more and more ridiculous. The pace of the show is unsustainable. If it wasn’t for few Golden Beth moments my husband and I would have stopped watching.
Who are all these other people who aren't the interviewer or the interviewee? Are they here for a reason?
