I tried the Note 20 Ultra at a store and I gotta say, it really stood out from the other phones. I could actually write properly with the pencil, so much so that I could see myself using it for school work.
Me too. I am approaching college and it's been super useful as a school aid for work. The notes app that Samsung has updated recently is brilliant for note taking. I also just recently picked up Samsungs newest flagship tablet and both devices combined is world star level. Nothing compares to them.
Forgot to mention the dex feature which in my opinion is a game changing feature. I use it way more than I expected to and seems to be getting more useful. Great vid. 👍
I've had 4 iPhones my whole life and each one made me want to go to Samsung. I love how with a Samsung phone you're not restricted as opposed to an iPhone where you're limited to so many features. The number one thing I love about my Samsung is screen mirroring. I can use that feature with any smart TV no problem. With an iPhone, you can only do that with an Apple TV. I also gotta have my emulators to play my old school games. Can't do that with an iPhone...unless you some how jailbreak it in which case you have be a super tech nerd or know someone who is. And then the storage!!!! My Note 20 Ultra came with 128 GB and if that's not enough which I think I'll never need more than that, you can buy micro sd cards for even more memory. You're stuck with whatever storage the iPhone comes in. You can even customize your Samsung phone with different themes. I think I'll be sticking to Samsung for now on. I don't need a wire with a magnetic piece to charge my phone.
I would pick note anyday. I coul literally just play with pen all day. The feel of touch and writing on phone is next level. Left alone all the other features
With my Note9, the novelty of the S pen wore off in a couple of weeks. In the 2 years I’ve had it, I’ve only used the pen as a camera remote a few times
@@mikesmith1290 i have been using pen for over a year and as a student it's best thing. It made my assignments so easy. Basically people pay $140 for apple pen while s pen is actually better than that.
@@x97k8 I actually use all the features note is offering. Atleast the one i know of. S pen is on top. Gaming camera with all modes (except pro mode. Never quiet fully understood it). Zoom, notes, office, photo editing, movie box, bixby button, opening apps in small bubbles and changing opacity of open small wondows, one hand use. If i am missing any main feature let me know
Same here, I turn them off although my wife likes her set to .50 which is much snappier than the default. Just love that you can actually control this unlike the iPhone.
@@epictroy Had both but got rid of the iphone 12 PMax....it is just an iPhone with all of ios' limitations. Used every iphone through to the iP6plus and it just reminded me why I left the ecosystem....
It depends on how long you plan to keep your phone. I have a iPhone x and a Galaxy S9 both running on latest software. The slightly "younger" S9 suffers from typical Android stutters and lags while the iPhone x still runs buttery smooth. May be it's OneUI not Android's problem but I wouldn't consider Samsung for the software experience alone. Having said that I love the look, the screen and the build quality of the Note 20 Ultra, wish it has a better OS
Simon and Eric don't fully understand the word 'bias.' It doesn't mean having a favorite, and it doesn't mean turning toward something after analysis. A bias is first and foremost a preconceived notion. Furthermore, even when not used in that way in a colloquial manner it still refers to choosing something or leaning towards something without critical thinking and constructive analysis. In his video he details several problems and things he doesn't like with the Note. He does so honestly without making excuses. These are things people with a bias cannot do, especially in the face of a direct competitor. Simply because he's chosen the Note and the Note Series after it checks all the parameters of his analysis doesn't mean he has a bias. That's like saying a videogame has a bias towards a player that keeps scoring the highest score on it.
@@justsomepandawithinternet Like I said I hadn't watched a JR vid in a while... Not because they suck but because I don't have much time as before but glad they are leaders in this regard.
I remember when Apple came out with the iPhone 6 Plus. I was excited to have a larger screen, but was extremely disappointed when I had it and it was nearly exactly the same as the regular sized phone without any focus on using all of the extra screen real estate. I switched to a Samsung Note and have never looked back. Samsung gives you so many ways to use the large screen size and the SPen is simply awesome to write, edit PDFs and photos, and draw with. It's sad to see that Apple still hasn't added any additional features to use the larger display.
@Gerry Haselton the only one hand thing you can do on iPhone is to bring the screen to bottom half to make it accessible. On note the complete screen itself is reduced to and can be docked to either left or right.
Me too! If I had to go with just one, then I would go with the Note Ultra. I have both phones and I wind up gravitating more towards the Note Ultra. Thanks for a great video. :)
Upgraded to the 12 Pro Max then exchanged it for the Ultra. The iPhone is a great device but it's too heavy and too big with little tradeoff. Plus I got a black friday deal on the Note for nearly 500 off. Again the iPhone is great but it's not 2x better.
@@jlmazzeipro that's why I made the opposite choice. Going from a Note to iPhone 12 pro max. Mainly because I'm always distracted on my Note, there is always something to do. Second reason is battery life. As a doctor, having a phone that doesn't require mid day charging is very important. Third reason is the camera, iphone cameras are the most consistent camera right now. Try using your Note camera in non optimal lighting conditions, you'll be very disappointed.
I agree with you.,.,. I have the Note 20 Ultra,, and I will not give it up, Samsung Pay,,, Buds + 45 Watt Charging, That screen tho 😍😍😍😍😍😍... The 120 Hz,, Battery, The S-pen,,,, The power to do more.. the storage options.... plus micro sd support.. and 5g,, how can u honestly ask for more... Iphone just doesnt cut it anymore..... Tried a Iphone 12 Max and returned the next day. ...
I switched from iPhone to the Note 20 Ultra when it came out and I still haven't lost that excitement when I use it. I thought I'd get phone envy when watching all of the iPhone 12 reviews but the Ultra just offers so much more in comparison. Also been using it to stream and play my Xbox on and works perfectly. You would not be disappointed with the Ultra.
There's way too many features the iPhone 11, but 12 13 and 14 lack that will never make me envy it... They still don't have multiscreen for goodness sakes or a phablet with a pen and sit on only 60ghz display compared to 120ghz display on note 20 ultra and S22 ultra. Apple stopped innovating im guessing about 5yrs ago, they even adopted widgets and notification tray from Android.
@@megaflex48 no, there's tons of apps to allow u to transfer over imessage stuff or use iCloud live with any android device.. Also I use Bixby routines to switch to 120ghz qhd+ display when I'm using Netflix, Chrome, the Camera or RUclips for buttery smooth display on video apps and go back to 60ghz for everything else. I never used Bixby on previous Samsung devices but the routines feature is freaking clever.. You can automate the phone to do different tasks like the IFFT App when different apps or clicks open. I still use Google assistant over Bixby for searching, lol I set in Bixby routines everytime I hold the power button that Google assistant comes up and not Bixby, over riding it. They probably should've disabled that feature lol
This is why I watch your channel Sir. You always hit on all the key ingredients about Apple and Samsung. You hit on key topics on all manufacturers. I hope you have had a great weekend. Stay safe brother.
I took advantage of the black Friday sale and traded my 11 pro max for the ultra. I didn't realize how bad I was missing the note app with my job, plus so many things it can do the iPhone did not, such as naming my network/Bluetooth connections just for example. I really can't understand the camera becoming a deciding factor just for selfies and social media lol.
I've used both cameras on iPhone 12 pro max and 13 vs note 20 ultra and the difference is minimal... Unless ur a photographer and can't spot the details a normal person would be more then satisfied with Samsungs 108 megalixel camera... Plus it has 50x zoom compared. To apples 5x zoom only ... I use the Camera on 50x zoom like binoculars and creep watch people from distance without them not even knowing lol or look at something from afar that I can't see.. it's ridiculously useful it's like having a magnifying glass in ur pocket ... There was a time apples camera dominated Samsung but now it's apples N oranges.
I always appreciate the camera and performance of an iPhone but i love how futuristic the samsung is. I am not a gamer and into photography, i just wanted a phone that is for me more futuristic and better display and design, so i will pick the note 20 ultra. I love the S pen too!
Me too. I've been using note phone since note 4 and currently have the note 9. But I just love build of this new iphone. I just don't know if I can handle the OS difference tbh I really like the customization of android and truly loath iTunes. I can't decide though. I will say I've had to deal with samsung customer service a few times and its terrible. Which is the main reason I'm considering the switch to begin with.
When it comes to phones I could careless about the camera, at this point they are all good. I truly hate that the camera is the emphasis every single year for every single phone.
Yes. Its like its being marketed as a camera with a phone. Whereas its still a phone with a camera. Would really appreciate reviews on call quality, signal strength.
Ellie Whitehead I’ve been a Samsung user for a long time. I just traded in my note 20 ultra for the 12 pro max. There’s a few reasons why I did this. I used all the Note 20 features that the iPhone doesn’t have a lot. The S-pen was my go to, split screen was defiantly handy. After having Note for 3gens, the S-pen wasn’t such a big deal in the end. Sure it was good for when I was felling lazy and laying the phone down to swipe through pages or using it for quick use with the calculator.. but other than that I only used it for writing down notes. Split screen was handy but I only used it to write down a number from text for what ever website. iPhone you do need to worry about this as it gives you the option to copy number from a text message instantly to varify. Samsung’s keyboard is insanely frustrating, especially while using chrome. If you are to search something in the address bar ‘.com’ comes up as a button and takes up room so you’re constantly hitting that by accident while writing in a subject. As well as a full stop. iPhone I haven’t misspelled something yet. Bixby vs Siri. Bixby is downright terrible. I’ve always hated it. It never takes what you say properly, it doesn’t react to your voice properly. To me it was utterly useless. Siri on the other hand doesn’t miss a beat, and I’m finding myself actually using her a hell of a lot. The iPhone feels a lot sturdier compared to the note with its thick edges A major problem I’ve had in the last few months is, and this was happening with the S20+ as well is that I could not do video-link appointments for doctors and paediatrician appointments there was ALWAYS a problem that I had to get the doctor to call me back over the phone. Different websites. I’ve had to use my mother in laws iPhone or my hubby’s. Another thing was the NFC, I gave up using careless payments because I was never really sure if it was going to work or not. This is with various cases, thin and thick. Very inconvenient. Now I’ll have a whine about the galaxy watches. I’ve had the active 2 and the galaxy watch 3. These were also terrible with NFC. Not only that, the apps were very limited. And again bixby sucked on it, and doing voice to text on them again, sucked. And lastly I had to pay a $50 a year subscription for virus protection, Samsung is not secure. With iPhone I don’t need to fork out this extra. These things mightn’t seem like a big deal when you’ve just entered the Samsung Note world.. and I would’ve never thought I’d get myself an iPhone because the fact you can’t modify a lot of settings like Samsung and don’t have options in ways of theme (visuals with phones is a big thing for me), but after getting the hang of my husbands phone I decided to change. My 6 years with Samsung Note is done and gone
I was waiting for this comparison, specifically from you guy's. But I couldn't pass on the black friday deals so I went with a 12 pro max in pacific blue. First time switching to iphone since the 6.
@Rex I've had android since its infancy. Currently have the oneplus 7 pro which I love, but I needed to try something new. After a while you want to break from the same routine.
@Rex Why do you feel the need to comment on other people's choices, nobody asked for your unsolicited opinion. Change is good, you don't need to act like Android is your god.
You will be happy. I switched from my note 10+ to the iPhone 12 pro max and I love it. I wil definitely buy the AirPods pro and Apple Watch so I have the full ecosystem when i go out
@Rex stop acting like it's that bad dude, i have used the xs max and switched to ONEPLUS 8 and i must say there's not too much difference between android and IOS. I don't know why some dumbos who can't even afford to use an IPhone or another android phone come to the comments and start trolling it
Finally a reviewer that actually choose a device at the end. Great video and comparison. I am an iPhone user that has been using the Samsung galaxy note 20 ultra for the past several weeks and I am blown away. What I miss is apples ecosystem and how everything syncs, no smart watch can beat the Apple Watch. When it comes to fitness and health and applications Apple has the upper hand. However the endless possibilities with the note 20 ultra it’s futuristic.
Nice lie lol. Only an idiot would consider switching from such a recent and one of the best phones to another phone. So you're either an idiot or a liar. Android fanboi liar (y)
"Flat display we all wish Samsung would adopt" speak for yourself! Been getting the curved displays ever since they released them. Now I can't go back. Hated the flat screen of the Note 20 and exchanged it for the ultra
If Samsung would make a note with a flat display I would go back I don’t like the edge screen never cared for it. I had every galaxy phone since the s5 and I had notes as well. I buy new phones often I avoided the curved screen until I had to get it with the s8. I bought the 12 pro max for my very first iPhone is was a hard pill to swallow with everything I own being Samsung and I couldn’t be happier being back to a flat screen and I enjoy the keyboard more.
"On one hand you have the best iPhone Apple has ever made and on the other hand you have the most beloved Samsung that's actually not the best Samsung makes (means Samsungh has other crazy giants)" that summed it up for me. Samsung is too versatile and creative. Period!
I'm blessed enough to say I daily carry both of them and this video was pretty accurate. I, too, would choose the Note 20 Ultra but the 12 Pro Max is close second
I also have both well technically 2 of each because I buy my wife the same phone I get. I love the Note, but I also love the iPhone, battery last longer on iPhone and no hiccups where my note does give me hiccups. iPhone is overall smoother and you can’t beat the ecosystem, HomePod mini, Apple Watch, iPad Pro and air pods and don’t forget Apple car play is light years ahead of android auto.
I'm Samsung user and love Note phone, but I have to admit Apple is starting to look affordable when compared to Samsung, their phones are just getting ridiculously expensive.
All the phones like these are over priced. If you pay 1000 -1300 for a phone, it should literally have EVERYTHING on it, in it and included in the box.
If there's one thing I can tell you as a guy who switched from the iPhone 12 to note 20 ultra, trust me, once you actually see and feel the note, you'll be mesmerized
@@maverickmig211 Bro I was just fed up with the stupid notch on the iphone. They haven't changed much in design in the last three phone. Even though there have been spec upgrades within the new iphones, those don't make any significant difference for a regualr joe such as myself. But the note just feels premium when you hold it, and that alone made me switch.
Same here, I have both phones. The camera of the Note is just so much better, it’s as good as a fujifilm camera. While the iPhone’s okay, but you’d know it’s taken with a phone.
@@anthonyt425 I have one too and for me, it's the overall productivity. But if I had to choose, I'd say it's the S-pen along with the 120Hz refresh rate, they work like magic together! A feature that doesn't get talked about at all is Bixby Routines. So you know how people complain about no WQHD+ at 120Hz? Realistically, why would you need that? With Bixby Routines, you can set a "routine" that switches to WQHD+ 60Hz every time you open RUclips, for example, and when you close it, it switches back to FHD+ 120Hz. You can set all sorts of routines However, even after owning my Note 20 Ultra for 3 weeks, I couldn't test out the camera apart from quick snaps here and there due to quarantine. The photos that I did take look absolutely great! I love how detailed they are!
They need to make the fold more practical. Thinner and have the outside screen be as capable as a regular phone. I hated having to open the phone for many tasks cuz the outside screen was still subpar.
Since i bought the Note 9 in March i won't be upgrading anytime soon but i guess my next phone would be a Fold whenever i like how it looks and functions.

"The iPhone has the flat screen we all wish the Note had" No. We don't all want a flat screen. I really dislike when reviewers use a completely subjective point and use it as a disadvantage, even though most people like the curved display.
You nailed it. Drives me crazy when they mention subjective things and label them as cons. ie. headphone jack, removable battery, expandable mem, wireless charging, etc. Just mention what the device has and doesn't have. None of the afore mentioned "features" are things that I need on a phone or care that it doesn't have.
@@Gunny_101st you also nailed it. Phone reviews aren't phone reviews anymore. Its more of a comparison of a phone vs THEIR ideal phone. They don't talk about phones on their own merits anymore. Its compare to this and compare to that. Its as if in all these years not a single phone reviewer has realized iOS and Android while both being mobile operating systems, are 2 totally different things almost entirely and yet we compare them over and over. From features to benchmarks. SMH. I guess thats the only formula to get views.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but the curved screen is less usable screen real estate. I think it is more of a gimic to stand out. I personally don't see the reason for the curved screen.
Excellent review and I do own a Galaxy Note Ultra & a Z Fold 2. I also ordered an iPhone 12 ProMax but cancelled after I actually handled one. Not only does it feel like a brick, it's also wider than the Ultra and that to me is on the extremes of what's comfortable in my hand. Whilst Apple are slowly catching up with Android for user interface, I still muse at how excited IOS guys get at what they have only just got that has existed on Android for years on the latest release. The fact that on a phone so huge as the ProMax you still can't have multi-window, is frankly hilarious. I'll stick with Samsung thank you very much and no doubt when Apple finally catch up to where Android is today, the latter will be even further down the road. Oh, good luck with not having a finger print sensor when you pop out wearing your mask on your new $1200 iPhone too.
They should have an S pen by now too gaurantee apple people would finally realize why it's more amazing on a flagship phone then on a tablet. It's like having a mouse on ur labtop
I have the 20 and its great. I've had experience with both and the Samsung is MUCH better. The iPhone 12 is just a copy of the IPhone 11 but the s20 series is different to the s10 and all of the Notes are different.
It’s worse w Samsung. As soon as a device comes out (ex Fold 2), they already leak the new one coming out in June or July. They do this all of the time.
I still experience occasional lag when I copy paste stuffs from the browser to certain apps or editing my own older content on the Note. I sold the Note last week for a new IPhone 12 Pro Max.

I used a Note 10+ from release till last week and was pretty satisfied. But since I‘m kinda bored of Android I bought a iPhone 12 Pro Max. Yes, the Notch is really big. But honestly, even coming from a Note 10+, it doesn’t bother me that much. Also there are so many good Apps That are better on iOS or aren’t even available on Android. Last year I thought that my next phone has to have 120hz, but if I’m being totally honest, I don’t even care. My iPad Pro 2018 has a 120hz screen and my new Laptop has a 240hz screen and I only see the difference when I actively look for it. If not, I’m not even aware it is there. So far I’m pretty happy but I only got it 7 days ago. The Note 20 Ultra is really compelling but to me it doesn’t look too interesting. But this is obviously very subjective.

funny how my iphone 6 s plus has for 6 months been lagging and shutting down randomly but stops finally right when I start looking at switching to android
The new Samsung phones now get 3 years of major operating systems updates but apple still gets a little longer in the update department but the differences is how long it takes to get updates while apple gets them right away which can be good but also bad in that you can a lot of bugs but they also get fixed faster while with android it can take some time to get updates that improve and or fix bugs but in the end it’s up to the user what they like best

I'm talking about a Galaxy S4. 7 generations old and still works. Problem for you Apple lovers is you watch too much RUclips and never live and try things yourself. You let these "knowledgeable" reviewers tell you what you want to hear, instead of experimenting for yourself. I have over the years watch many Apple sheep turn to Android and especially Samsung once they give it a try and get over the pain of the learning curve. I guess you see value in 5 years of updates, even tho your hardware wasn't meant to run software 5 years in the future but you guys never consider that or the fact no one really keeps a phone for 5 years as a daily driver. The fact that Androids don't need the latest OS version to run apps. Again something iphone users don't know anything about. I don't mean to make this an iPhone vs Android thing. It's just iPhone users are so misinformed about Androids. Most of you are still spouting arguments from 2012. Lagging? Samsung doesn't lag anymore. Support? Androids don't need the level of support iphones require simply because its an open source operating system and has a large development community.
I upgraded from the 10+, as I cracked it. However I went to the pro max for work reasons. I agree, the 10+ is awesome. If you really need a good quality camera, spend your 1000 + on a camera, Buy a DLSR or a mirror less.
I too didn't expect the iPhone to do better with photography than my Note. Was stunned when it did. I'm now carrying an iPhone with me. But I still have my Note for all of the reasons that you mentioned. If I could only have one ... tough call as I take a LOT of photos and videos. I love the Note, but on that side, Samsung has been showing a bit of wavering on commitment lately. (How many more Notes will there be?). Also Samsung has been removing features on each iteration. Most recently the loss of the 45W fast charger, they cut the base storage in half from 256GB to 128GB, the loss of the TOF sensor, etc.). Apple at least has been consistant with adding features (unless you count the 3D Touch or the charger in the box).
Same! It's just hard to get away of the apple ecosystem, specially if you own also an apple watch, Ipad, and MacBook. It's just to another level. I wish the IPhone was better tho, is like 4 years behind Android phones.
It's a double edged sword. They have a great ecosystem but they aren't good at dealing with other systems. If you don't go all in with Apple, it can get annoying.

As always, an unbiased and objective analysis and review from Jaime. You rock, Jaime!
Unbiased?! Jamies favorite phones have always been the note series.
I swear this guy is so pro
Yes he is one of the biggest reasons I research tech everyday and a whole lot of other youtubers as well.
Jaime is completely, 100% biased towards anything Android/Samsung especially the Note series.

I’ve been a Samsung user for a long time.
The iPhone feels a lot sturdier compared to the note with its thick edges
A major problem I’ve had in the last few months is, and this was happening with the S20+ as well is that I could not do video-link appointments for doctors and paediatrician appointments there was ALWAYS a problem that I had to get the doctor to call me back over the phone.
With the Google Assistant Note 20 Ultra features not 1 but 2 personal assistants.

Finally a reviewer that actually choose a device at the end. Great video and comparison. I am an iPhone user that has been using the Samsung galaxy note 20 ultra for the past several weeks and I am blown away. "The iPhone has the flat screen we all wish the Note had"
No.
The reviewer is clearly a biased apple fan.
@@chrislee4485 why’s that? Just because he likes a flat screen?

Honestly the lower range iphones have been better value compared to the androids in the past 2-3 generations rather than the flagships so in this case I'd definitely go Note.
Seems these comment sections have been overtaken by generic anti-Apple sheep. I’ve seen many a few comments that hit on the M1 MacBooks performance simply because, quote, “ARM and x86 are completely different! You can’t compare them!” Jeez what braindead idiots
@@stacia6678 People have their preferences. If those preferences are different from yours. It doesn't mean they're "sheep"
@@stacia6678 my comment was not anti apple at all, I'm the first to admit that if it wasn't such a closed ecosystem (and so expensive) I'd have jumped on it ages ago, I'm impressed with what they achieve but in this here comparison the Note to me is just flat out the better value for money device, when you go down the price range with the non ultra versions of the note or the plus versions of the S line and a lot of other flagships Iphones make more sense to me.
Just my opinion
I had every galaxy since the s5 and I bought the 12 pro max a few weeks ago and it’s my first iPhone and I’m pretty please with it coming from a s10+ I went to iPhone cause I fell in love with having a flat screen again I never cared for the edge and never used the edge feature for me it was a waste of time and I also get better battery life with the iPhone and seem to download things much quicker then my galaxy ever did. If Samsung releases a note with a flat screen I’ll switch back until then I think imma gonna keep my iPhone.
I switched to iPhone 12 Pro Max from s10+ too and I love it

I have a iphone 12 pro max Pacific blue 128gb but I will day the note 20 ultra is a beautiful phone

@@dennisa4220 why wouldn't he be able to use an android that long? Maybe you should go buy an old android. A cheap one from 2014. Turn it on and watch how it still works.

Apple at least has been consistant with adding features (unless you count the 3D Touch or the charger in the box).

yeah, once you have other Apple products, moving away from iPhone seems difficult.
It's a double edged sword. They have a great ecosystem but they aren't good at dealing with other systems. If you don't go all in with Apple, it can get annoying.
