Hi. Just to check in. I did this by myself two weeks ago. Not a big deal just good organization and no problem. Took me 8h to disassemble everything, and about 4-5 to put everything back together. No left over parts or screws nor missing ones and also nothing broke. Did in one day. Needed tools are minimal (3 torx, 3 hex, 1 pliers, few flat and philips screwdrivers, clamps for hoses so you don't have to drain the coolant from the whole system and MOST important a lot of light, and a good light with magnet). In my country evaporator original Valeo was 120 euro, that was the total cost for me. No orings or seals to change, no errors on the computer, just a a bit complicated LEGO. Very grateful for your video because you encouraged me to it by myself and also showed few tricky spots that I would probably get stuck onto.
Thanks for the helpful video. Used it alongside some other e90 videos to do this repair on my e82. Probably would have had a much worse time if it wasn't for this video
Just had my E87 replaced both the evaporator and expansion valve. Watched this video beforehand made me more paranoid about the process, but the specialist had good reviews and finished it in about 5 working hours.
Thanks, this kind of task are easy, complicated tasks are when you try to diagnose a problem when someone else heave done some modification or mistakes 😀
Im watching this so I can remove all of the material lining the firewall that smells like crayons. It wouldnt be so bad if it didnt stick to my clothes, hair, skin etc. Looks daunting to remove most of the dash but your video in slow motion does help.
This video inspired me to get it done myself and the desert heat. And the 3000 usd bill shops would charge for this job. Not my first DIY but extensive nonetheless
Multumesc.

Hi, I have a 1M Coupe and the car drops coolant at the drain of the heater core (drain located above the transmission). Therefore I assume thar my heater core has a leae. Moreover, I have some kind of burned smell when I turn the heater on. I guess and hope that it is all related. Going to try to change the heater core next week. Or do you thing it might be something else? Kind regards, Max
Hi Max, if your coolant is leaking, it may be a broken heater core or its pipes, normally your windshield should be steaming on the inside, it should have an oily film (coolant vapors)

Hi, Is it possible to leave the old evaporator in place, and instead install a new one in the engine bay infront of the radiator, and then reconnect the ac pipes from the old evaporator to the new one in the egine bay?
It's impossible, the evaporator work is to cool down the air inside the cabin. You have to push the air to the evaporator to it . If you don't change the cabin filter per year, the three leaf, dirt, goes to the evaporator and with some wet, it will rotten and leak the gas from A/C system .
