This was the VERY scene which introduced me to The Incredible Hulk. I had missed the first half of the episode, so I didn't know what the show was about. When I saw David turning into the Hulk for the first time, I was beyond shocked! :) From that night on, I was hooked.
@3912James I agree. His being "stuck in between" being David and the Hulk actually helped him get the plane on the ground although I don't think David necessarily "planned" it that way.... Also, by the time the plane touched the ground he was fully the hulk and didn't understand "Press the brake pedal". The plane would have crashed had that kid not rushed back into the cockpit the second and helped the Hulk stop the plane. Great episode. My heart still pounds every time I watch it.
This episode in a way proves that David just let's the Hulk out go nine times out of ten, if he can delay it like this. 1 minute 35 seconds when normally he's Hulked out in about 10 seconds.
"Who are you? Where's David?" It's always interesting how many of the characters on this show seem to ignored how the big green monster wears the same clothes as David or how the two appear at the same place (in this case, a cockpit.)
The boy with the glasses is Brandon Cruz. He was co starring in the Courtship of Eddie's Father. Bill Bixby and Brandon Cruz would remain in tough until Bill Bixby's death in 1993. In 1995 Brandon Cruz would name his own son Lincoln Bixby Cruz.
I think what was more dramatic was the sense that as he is slowly changing into the Hulk....his comprehension began to diminish reflected by the increasingly echo from the airliner navigator assistant attempting to guide David in landing the plane.
This is genius, David was trying to stave off the full metamorphosis for as long as he possibly could to stay conscious enough to respond to the instructions, whilst harnessing the gamma injection of strength he was receiving. It was brilliant teamwork and strategy all round for a safe landing.
You got to give him credit because this Hulk show his personality there are moments in this TV show where the Hulk was so calm and he learnt a couple of things other than smashing and there was one moment in this TV show Hulk like looking at this dummy shopping store and it was green and that's when he started become shirtless I think it's kind of funny and cool
I know this comment is old, but you're exactly right. The slow transformations were always the scariest to me as a kid, not only because he looked so creepy in mid-transformation, but you could tell David was fighting it every step of the way.
This is what was lacking in the 2003 Hulk film; no white-eyes. They remedied it for 2008. Without that key moment you can't tell when he's gonna change. Hope they don't mess with it for Mark Ruffalo's Hulk in The Avengers.
Hi again! Brandon Cruz hasn't given up acting, but he did spend quite a few years as a punk rocker in Oxnard, California, where he spent most of his life. He's also been married for close to 18 years, has 2 children, 1 of which is named after Bill Bixby and nowadays he dedicates his spare time to helping others kick alcoholism and drug addiction, both of which he had a problem with until 1996. He also traded in his glasses for contact lenses by age 21, but may have had LASIK by now.
Of course anyone who happened upon that situation would think " He has shreds of clothing on that resemble David's , obviously this guy is David after transforming into a monster . "
@NoSteveNoPoint Because David knew that if he transformed into the Hulk then he along with the passengers would perish....so for the sake of their safety he had to fight (albeit in a losing effort) to prevent the Hulk's primitive mind from taking over. I also think that David took a gamble....betting that he could remain mentally conscious as long as possible while using some of the Hulks strength to help land the plane.
When the flight instructions became echoey in the latter stages of the metamophosis, im guessing that is to convey of David's progressively clouded mind & conciousness at that time. I also thought Lou Ferrigno portrayed the hulk's utter bewilderment & confusion in the cockpit brilliantly!
Lou Ferrigno's Hulk and Bill Bixby's David Banner belong to my generation growing up in the 70's and 80's and will always be my favorite combination no matter what CGI they come up with.
The boy who played Kevin is Brandon Cruz from "Courtship of Eddie's Father". I love this episode of "The Incredible Hulk" and I'm a big Brandon Cruz fan.
Bill Bixby(Dr David Banner) is dead. Lou Ferrigno(The Hulk) is still alive today. This was a great episode - feel sorry for The Hulk - he was so confused especially at 3:50.
Hi! I'm not Brandon Cruz's wife, but his wife's name is Liz, just like mine. He met her through Nicolas Cage and Patricia Arquette. Also, you can now find Season 1 of "Courtship of Eddie's Father" on DVD, available on Ebay and other similar websites. The Warner Archives website is one of them and there's 2 part podcast interview on it with Brandon Cruz.
@Pinhead554 You're right! I never thought of it that way. "Stay in control, David. Pull back", "Don't overcompensate!" That could have meant the plane OR himself in that situation!
Ha ha, "recycled" footage from movie "Airport 1975" - I saw this episode on TV and could hardly believe they re-used scenes of the "Columbia Airlines" 747's emergency landing.(American's N9675 I believe - went on to be a freighter for UPS) If you look closely, in the head-on shot you can see the "damage" to the flight deck when a small plane collided with it in the movie.

So David is sitting in the pilot's seat and then the kid finds a green monster with a ripped shirt. No one can figure out that its David. Also, how does David get his duffle bag back?
Best Hulk out ever, David is being told to "stay in control", as he is changing..
That’s my moms favourite episode
Thankyou for flying hulk airlines ..please leave the aircraft via the large hole on the left hand side and have a nice day 😄
he managed to control the transformation into the hulk just enough for him to land the plane safely classic episode and a great hulkout!!!
Lou is so good. Portrays the Hulk’s confusion so well.
Get out Get outtttt love it. Bill Bixby was amazing. Rest in peace.
Unique. David is actually fighting and slowing down the transformation to give him enough time.
Man, I loved this show when I was little. Still awesome today

man your first hulk-out scene was one of the best of all time :P

A very good episode in season 1 Dr. David Bruce Banner fights to his transformation into hulk because he must put the plane safely to the ground.
Sometimes David turns into Hulk quickly sometimes don't. It all depends on the task he's going to do.
that some scary transformation, the make up, the expression.
I loved running in slow motion like the Hulk when I was a kid. 😀
"Who are you? Where's David?" It's always interesting how many of the characters on this show seem to ignored how the big green monster wears the same clothes as David or how the two appear at the same place (in this case, a cockpit.)
That last scene where he tugged....it was like David merged with Hulk, retaining his mind and Hulks strength
Incredible Hulk, the biggest marketing campaign at the time for Green Giant's sweetcorn to get lift off the ground! lol 😉
Must-get-the-whole-episode. This is sooo good!!

The 70’s was so much better, you just watched it and believed it, nowadays kids would rip this apart.
The guy David is talking to is Officer Kirk from Happy Days.
Oh my god, you're right!
aww bless the hulk he was so confused lol

I thought the very same thing when I saw "Thriller" for the first time. MJ's werewolf transformation totally reminded me of a Hulkout.

Oh shit, in this situation this is where David's metamorphosis would become a handicap not a gift.
he out while trying to land a plane , it is so wonderfull !

At 1:16, the hormone in David's brain begins to secrete and that triggers his metamorphisis in the the creature...The Hulk.
Of course anyone who happened upon that situation would think " He has shreds of clothing on that resemble David's , obviously this guy is David after transforming into a monster . "
me too . I love that I can show it to my kids on u tube . the old show had more charactar thats a fact
Lol Incredible Hulk Flying High Crossover! They should have had Leslie Nelson as a guest on this one

Why does this make me think of Sully with Tom Hanks? 😂
Nice
Anyone else founds it creepy when bruce is trying to transform into the hulk?
the best I could see fantastic
3:06 i like Hulk when pull the yoke after the plane landed, he strong.
Just one word :epic.

I agree. They were the best. Nothing can out do what they did.
I don't understand how people enjoy the CGI theatrics of today's "Hulk". To me, this is the REAL Hulk...
I bet no one would dare hijack that aircraft if they knew who was at the helm.
3:25 ,3:49 , 4:17 , 4:29 , 4:41 , 5:01
5:20 : thank god, the Hulk got the plane stopped! Impressive.
The man in the check suit was later in Airplane The Movie with the same clothes and hairstyle.
This hulk should've fought Thanos
This was way before Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video. This episode is from 1978 or 79. "Thriller" is from 1983.
hi daivid good hulk (((:
Childhood memories 😊
The boy who played Kevin is Brandon Cruz from "Courtship of Eddie's Father". I love this episode of "The Incredible Hulk" and I'm a big Brandon Cruz fan.

Bill Bixby(Dr David Banner) is dead. Lou Ferrigno(The Hulk) is still alive today. This was a great episode - feel sorry for The Hulk - he was so confused especially at 3:50.

LOL. Hulk as the pilot
But then again, how common sense is to assume real world people just transform into monsters?

He started wearing glasses at age 5 and wore them while filming "Courtship of Eddie's Father" from 1969-1972, as well as during tutoring on the set
