Layout Update Spring 2022 - New station area, rebuilt track and new sidings

  • I've been working on the layout almost every day since that last video. What started off as re-profiling the curves heading into the station turned into a huge project that took about 180 hours to complete. With everything now back up and running I'm really looking forward to getting some scenery done in the large area.
    Hope you enjoy the new changes, cheers.

    The main difference i notice from some other layouts is the smooth running of your track. No 'jiggly' coaches. Very impressive.

      Same! He did a brilliant job rebuilding his layout!!!
      And so true about other layouts! Whenever a carriage wobbles a little on a layout, that would translate to broken bones of all the passengers if scaled up to life size!

    Richard...thanks for buying our sleeper spacer tool and glad it went some way to assisting what is most probably the most laborious task but as you rightly say, the end result is well worth it. I can't believe what you have also done on the layout in this space of time and looks flipping awesome.

    I've had a Bachmann IC livery Mk1 BG coach sat in a drawer for years that I only bought to sit on a diorama shelf I made. Genuine showroom miles. One owner from new. Future classic. If I'd have known you'd been after one I'd have reached out to you!
    Your new sidings have my imagination going wild there, Richard. If you were to sacrifice them to the scenery gods, remove the center line and replace it with a platform, you could easily pass off that entire area as an old disused station; The original Everard from before the war and before the junction and new station were built in its place. The now head-shunt would have been the original single track line before the new main line was built to replace it. Leave the bridge section out, probably taken away to be melted down during the war, but put the supports in on the other side and you have the remains of a 'once upon a time' line. The flats even look like they were built in its place once an original viaduct was demolished. The rear wall of your viaduct would have been the front wall of the original. Brings a bit of history to the area.
    I think that area is standing out to me because where I live we have loads of abandoned arched viaducts where the [Lancashire & Yorkshire] railway was taken away decades ago, now reclaimed by nature, but the viaducts remain as most of the arches have been converted in to shops. gyms, garages, etc. Please do have a look down Love Lane, Liverpool. Postcode L3 7DD on Google maps. It's quite the sight! It's exactly what I imagine your viaduct would look like from behind. There's even a narrowboat shell dumped down there on the road side. Goes well with your canal. There must be a local boat builders in Everard!
    Keep it coming, Richard.
    Take care. Mike.

    What is impressive about your work is that when you watch the trains running you know that you are seeing a model railway but it makes you forget that because of all the small details that take it that step further. Watching the progress of it being built is really interesting it is a joy to watch the trains running. The weathering on the trains and locos looks just right for what they are and only add to the illusion created with the scenery. Thank you for sharing the process and progress with us.

    Such a brave thing to do, ripping up a huge section of a perfectly good layout to redo it however can see why you did and the results are fantastic. Looking forward to seeing how you tackle the station area and what sort of building/s you go for now. Completely agree on the hunt couplings too, they really are a god send however they can be a bit brittle and some need to be glued in as you say, certainly a step in the right direction though. Cheers, Dave

    • @EverardJunction
      @EverardJunction  2 года назад

      Cheers Dave, glad you enjoyed it. I really like redoing bits around the layout. If those couplings were injection molded that would sort most of the issues. 3D printing isn't really meant for mass production of thousands of units.

    Some of the terraced houses like these sometimes did not have very big gardens, especially if they became multi occupancy property, and then subsequently demolished as part of the so called slum clearance schemes of the nineteen sixties up to the beginning of the seventies, in London. I think the amount of space that you have allowed looks very realistic in proportion to the viaduct.

    • @EverardJunction
      @EverardJunction  2 года назад

      Thanks Alan. The houses are based on real properties in Brixton. I've got close the the size for the gardens now so should be able to pull off something realistic. Will be sorting that out over the summer. Cheers

    I’ve massively fallen out of love with model railways for various reasons. Yours is the only channel I still watch because of just how good your layout, videos and stock are.
    I love the new corner of the layout, it’s just a shame you couldn’t find a way to fit in the old carriage shed you built. I’d love to see it on the layout again some day.

    Just a 'Wow'...what an amazing job Richard, really opened up the look and feel of that curve and that whole area looks so much better for it. Got to say though that other than you're explanation about how the curve in its original state was & did look to you, on screen it looked 'good' as it was - just shows how much effort you put in, that on-screen it wasn't really noticeable, other than being a little tight for the siding but it still looked ok. As for respacing all those sleepers...respect for wanting to go through that again.

    • @EverardJunction
      @EverardJunction  2 года назад +1

      Cheers Chris. Its certainly hard to get across the changes on camera. In the flesh its far more obvious and I'm much happier with it now. I wont be respacing any sleepers for a while now, Id forgotten how horrible it is!

    Once again Richard another outstanding video your skills are first class. I say it all the time I’m a long time viewer been with you since your very first videos testing points saw the start and finish of your original layout and have watched every single video as far back as I can remember . I unfortunately don’t have that time / space to continue my own layout which I’ve now sold but you keep my passion alive ! I don’t comment enough but I had to give my two pence aha. Outstanding modelling and another outstanding video! Big fan Rich keep it going !

    I finally was able to start a hobby I've been interested in for some time (long story). Modifying RC vehicles. I thought that was a lot if work, until I see the huge amount of work you've put into this setup. Your results are just amazing! I love the details.
