Many creative and useful ideas to inspire additions to my 1961 (June 1960 build) double-door panel bus. Thanks for a great video. Suggestion: create a vent for your 12v Dometic fridge so it can dissipate heat, operate more efficiently and last longer, buy reducing the frequency of the compressor being activated.
I miss my buses! 😩 - 64 Standard Micro walkthrough: totaled while parked on Pennsylvania Ave. in La Crescenta. - 62 Panel that I bought off that guy on Foothill Blvd.
Hi, i like concept of metal framing and thin plywood ! It is very inovative an unique+ lightweight which is as i think most important thing for such small engine van ❤
Thanks AsknD! I need to get the bus mechanically sound first, Transmission is stock. That will not take a trail bashing like Shasta. That group hauls ass! I've known most of the Ogs for thirty years. Peace and I'm glad you found my channel! - Larry
SuperDude, really enjoyed your walk-around, thanks! Come up to Alaska sometime and we can do some epic road trippin' in our '58s. Your's would do just fine, it's a beast!✌
@@VintageOverlandAdventures , good question. When I found her abandoned in the woods, she still had the original pear wood paneling and Hehr aluminum frame tilt out windows, so she's a professionally done camper conversion I reckon. Maybe someday if I can figure out this video stuff I can do a walk-around of the HiBearN8R and share the joy. Or you can check out AkDude on theSamba ✌
@@VintageOverlandAdventures Video has a nice flow and you covered it all, you're a natural at this. A legit overland rig! Sales flap functions well in this setup, would have not guessed it. But I like it a lot, good views and airflow. That's crazy, you said 12/58 build? Most likely are buses were built within a couple weeks of each other! Thanks for the tip on KM2 vs KM3.
I’ve seen all this in person and this video is still amazing! Love the idea of the onboard compressor and the cabinets and bed. Chad is awesome met him a few years back at Prado
Just love it ! Nothing fancy but everything you need and it all works and is very practical.. Enough said. As a versatile and all purpose overlander you can not easily beat a VW bus. Keep it coming, enjoy ad be safe. PS - your bus reminds me of another FB overlanding family 'Karstan and Maxine' in a similar bus doing Australia. Have a look !
I can't get enough of your bus! Great to see it still providing adventures! I have a few questions lol. 1.) Why do you keep the gas and oil in a cooler? (I ask because I don't know) 2.) There appears to be a fixture/valve(?) on the drivers rear brush guard. Can you tell us about that? 3.) Knowing not much about VW buses, are the skid plates underneath stock or did you add those (they look great, btw). 4.) What kind of gearing are you getting in first gear? 5.) do you ever carry spare parts? Thanks for taking the time to consider and answer my questions!
Hey! 1. Cooler - it's a great old vintage cooler box to hold and hide stuff in. So I really try to avoid anything new looking from showing. 2. Nitrous Valve - It's a GoPro camera mount, 3. Skid Plates - That is a stock thing, They came stock on sunroof buses and buses with cargo doors on both sides. 4. Gearing - I'm not sure, there is reduction boxes on the end of the axles to lower the gearing. (VW used the same reduction boxes on there Jeeps in WW2) 5. Spares - Fan belt & some ignition items. 6. Name - Larry :o) 7. PS - Your going to like Sundays Video
Very cool. I’m about to make my 66 13 window into a camper and love what you have done to yours. Question, do you Uber to take the whole rear bumper /Hearst off to get the motor out ?
Love your vintage bus over landing . Funny no 4x4 bus . Your bus is the Beast !
Thanks, 😊

Thanks! It's been fun putting it together. The next time I'm by the truck scales, i'll weigh the whole rig. 🧐🚐✌️
Awesome bus. I hope my 67 splity turns out as nice and functional as yours.
✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.

BRAVO! Quality work man!
Should do the Shasta Snow Run, you look like you'd breeze thru it no problems

Your bus looks well equipped for the type of driving you like to do. Just wondering if you have a box of spare parts and a good set of tools on board?
Good Question! I have some spares & some tools, I guess I’ll just have to make a Video for you. 🎥 🍿 ✌️

Hey William, Yes I do. It does come off pretty easy. I have a engine pull showing this. Playlist - Maintenance Monday. Thanks for watching.
Hi, do you know where I can get a Westfalia tent like yours? thanks
I purchased it from BBT Belgium, they're out of stock right now, But Bob is retooling them as we speak. Keep a eye on his webpage. shhhhh top secret
Such a coool bus. Do you have an Instagram?
