    How it is that you don’t have more views I have no idea. SUPER nice content. Like another commenter on this video, I don’t receive bell notifications either

      I appreciate that! It's fun bringing folks along for a ride. If 1 or 100? It doesn't matter. Smiles all the way around!!! You should receive notifications now. For the first six months, I forgot to check the notification box.

    Hi Larry. I started watching this episode yesterday, but had to go to work so finished watching now. It was worth the wait! In those closed in canyons, I thought it a perfect place for an ambush on a Saturday morning western serial. Question; What is that canister on the right side rear of the roof? Is it something you would deem worthy of a tech video on? Ok, that was two questions. have a good evening.

    Do you have upgrades from oem level suspension, steering components or lockers added to the drive wheels? It looks stock height too...

      @VintageOverlandAdventures  3 месяца назад +1

      Hey JR. In the Mengel Pass Video, the bus had a stock 1967 VW Type 2 Bus drive train, down to the single-port 1600cc motor. The front axle has a stock steering box, spindles, and tie rods. As for the transmission, it doesn't have lockers or a Heavy-Duty Differential, the gear-box is all stock. The bus is stock-height with 215.75.15 tires. That's the biggest tire I can use and it's the smallest Mud Terrain that BFG makes.

      @@VintageOverlandAdventures Amazing effort that shows how using momentum goes a long way offroad. thanks for the info. I'm heading up there some day but I'll leave my 14k lb. camper om the flats.

    what month did you do this? A few friends of our went in january 2023 last month and one section over the pass was pretty rough and not passable without high clearance

    Stunning views! You're really out there! Love this vid and the exterior shots of the bus on the challenging stuff, so the end segments are a real treat (I do miss your commentary tho!). Really great stuff. I have some questions, if you don't mind :) 1. Were there any parts of this road you felt were a little too challenging? 2. when you're tapping on your ceiling mounted phone, whatcha doin (no way you're getting service out there, right? :D ) 3. How long would you say the trail takes to complete (few hours?)

    • @VintageOverlandAdventures

      I miss the talking also. Guessing, It could be the hero 7 inside camera. Scratching and popping to nothing than back working??? Ok question #1, Challenging trail | It's all pretty challenging when your in a VW Bus that was built in 1958. I don't have a chase vehicle, it's a solo remote adventure. So, I watched RUclips videos to gauge if it's doable. @ 18:29 you can see tire tracks on the dirt outside the window, nasty angle. Look at my body language. crazy. Ok question #2, I use Gaia GPS @gaiagps and view the downloaded the area maps I made earlier. I wanted to spend the night at Barkers Ranch and do Supper and a night shot of the surrounding area (Mansonville) but the late summer monsoons had Goler Wash Rd. washed out. So I went to the top of Mengel Pass instead. | Time wise question #3 the trail/road was 8hrs and the whole outing was Thursday to Sunday. As for the trail, I left Ballarat at 11am and got back to Ballarat at 7pm. Camped, ate and slept. Drove home on Sunday. No trailers, Drove the Bus home 55mph with a 40mph side gust. Got home around 3/4pm Sunday. Little over 300 miles. Equals a Crazy Vintage Overland Adventures.

      Yes! We thoroughly enjoyed this one, the music too! You were out 8hrs here and 300 miles for a four day weekend? Crazy!!! Thanks so much for posting these videos of your adventures, much appreciated!!!

      @@VintageOverlandAdventures Great stuff! Thanks for answering all my questions lol. That's up there. I'd unfortunately have to trailer the Willys no matter where I go. It'll be central Los Angeles soon and freeways will definitely be a no-go. Loved every second of this vid and am totally looking forward to more!
