Peace be to you both! I'm a subscriber. I REALLY like this format!😀This information was very valuable. I'm glad Ms.Anan got exposure to the elderly population! There's going to be MUCH more of them in coming years! Keep up the great work you are doing! Thumbs up!👍🏾😀👨🏾‍⚕️

Only thing I know about medications in psych is some from when we did geriatrics I’m pharmacology which was our 3rd or 4th pharm lecture. But I thought we were told not to use haladol (not sure of spelling) in the elderly and I assume long term care/nursing home is elderly. Not sure if that’s right but I thought that’s what we were told. Or maybe it was to use that instead of another but I thought it was the former.

Say you’re correct given the time and place. Although Haldol and other antipsychotics have to be used safely especially in long term care, sometimes when patients are actually agitated they are given haldol although it is not the BEST drug especially in the elderly. You remember correctly from pharmacology, it does Increased fall risk and has inc risk of mortality. You have to weigh risks & benefits as always in medicine

PA Gold Standard yep you do. We didn’t do much, literally just one lecture on all of geriatric pharm but I think this semester we are going more into depth of psychological drugs.
