Dude's got a crystal mind. They should invite him to a long podcast, I think everyone would love to learn about how armwrestling developed all these years ago.
He's right Brzenk has great genetics for armwrestling plus the talent and experience. He's a super talented, genetically gifted arnwrestler who actually fulfilled his potential. The perfect storm
I'd argue that Brzenk never realised 100% of his potential since he never really trained in the gym. He pretty much always did only table time. Almost never training his muscles. Had he done that like many Eastern athletes do, I'm sure he would be even more dominant.
The thing with John that separates him from most USA pullers is-his relentless and endless drive to win he is like a genius at attacking his competitors weaknesses. Devon does that just as well. Devon has a lot more personality which makes him so much more popular, but John has one thing that I wish Devon had and that’s control of his emotions. Sometimes it takes away from just how good he really is.
What a beautiful video. I never thought we would get a video of Johnny talking about his experience at East vs West and sharing his legendary knowledge with us. Stuff like this needs to be archived forever
It was a honor meeting Johnny at EvsW 14. Let me tell you he still is strong. He grabs your hand and pushes down. You can still see all the definition in his forearm.

He was toying with Jerry who is running over the best right now. Not P4P, he's an open weight top 3 of all time, with only Levan being a favourite over him. He made a 286lb Devon crap his pants and drop in a KM at 58 with 4 months of training.
@@NSB25445 he would have beat him in 2008 if he had time to train. He wasn't paid either by Neil. Devon got his money. Weird how life is to a nice guy like John who did it only cause devon's house burned down back then. Never got the rematch in due time.

It was great to meet you yesterday, Ray. That was the first arm wrestling event I was ever at and I lost my voice. It was freaking nuts and so awesome dude. I know you didn’t get your W but you did a phenomenal job on the 🎤. 💪
Love hearing that OG stories, our elders have so much more to offer us than we think. Listen...Levan, Ermes, Devon(younger), all very strong guys but I saw John Brzenk at like 50 or so and was out of shape pull hammer grip 92kgs with relative ease, I don't even think Denis was doing that in his prime guerilla days. Remember John was an airline mechanic too, he got that trade strength also.
Walker still on point and sharp as hell. Need him much more present in this great sport! This is simply amazing. Greatest time ever to love arm wrestling 💪🏼👑💪🏼
Johnny no doubt is a humble guy.. He won 7 world titles stright and i feel he was the greatest of all time and was a true pioneer in the history and progress of arm wrestling..
Johnny lived in a house in West End Atlanta. He had an Arm Wrestling table in his dinning room. Such a nice guy. Beat me easily while i pulled with both hands. I was 17 years old then 1982. 220# highschool jock. Crazy lock,
They say Johnny still has the record for most matches won overall, because he starched everyone for ten years. He is know as the best armwrestler of the '70s along with Cleve Dean.
Johnny has always seemed like a more than decent man! Wish he could have got paid when he was in his prime. Maybe he will make a little on appearances at east vs west
Brzenk at his absolute prime pound for pound is the king. The new generation is a lot more about big size and tons of juice, but John in his prime would kill all these guys. HE just one a couple days ago at 60 years old !!!!!!!!!!!!! What would a 25 year john of done to that guy it would even be a contest.
its about exposure, when your peers dont practice a sport youre not exposed and you dont end up pursuing it. The reason east europe has such a big ammount of pullers is that the sport is popular and part of the local youth.
They also usually have higher bone mass on average. Which means they would have to cut more then someone who doesnt. And then competes against more muscles on a frame with lighter density bones. I dont know if thats an advantage or disadvantage. But i feel like it all evens itself out again
