If you look at the video after the 15 minute mark and watch Leonidas glance at John while he is sitting in his corner, and he has a warm, smile on his face. No anger - no bad vibes. Just pure admiration for the guy he is competing against. That's freaking sportsmanship.
It's almost like he knew it was over and respected him already for besting him. His cornerman was giving him advice but it seemed like in his head he was thinking "that's the GOAT right there, what advice could possibly work?" haha

Honestly the best match I've seen in a long time - great sportsmanship, no drama bs, no complaining, no bragging. Just raw arm wrestling and a highlight on technique and the performance. it's insane really, look how jablonski reacted to his defeat in comparison. is leon the only guy that can actually take a defeat without getting super salty? and it was a super clear defeat for leon and he didn't try to sugarcoat it at all.
How you cannot be excited, Leonidas had played matches with schoolboy and Auden and have completely obliterated both of them so I absolutely wanted to see how brzenk compared to current crop of young wrestlers

Watched this live from third row center. I'll never forget it, one of the most fun and electric moments I've ever experienced. Even got my old Pulling John dvd signed the evening before this, best weekend ever
I watched it live from the left side in the middle of the crowd. It was absolute insanity. One of the most insane nights ever. I’m so glad I got to witness him pull in person. I know everyone keeps talking about it being warm in there, but I think that just made it even more epic.
I see that most people are congratulating John on his victory. I acknowledge that he is already the greatest arm wrestler of all time, but Leonidas is also deserving of recognition. He is a rising talent. We have to give him a lot of credit! I am quite amazed with him already!
It doesn't really come through in this video HOW LOUD the crowd was. Everyone near me was hoarse at the end of this event. And this match was absolutely incredible. John is the definition of a legend.

14:09 one of my favorite moments of the match when John transitioned to the hook you see the Ref Hristo crack a smile seeing John do that. We’re all fans of the GOAT, I’m so happy I was able to witness it live through the ppv. I felt every emotion like I was part of the crowd. Please do more USA events, the crowd cheering plays a huge part in where this sport goes.
Cherish the moment of the G.O.A.T. We may never see as great of a performance from him again. His heart and will to win was of Historic levels. He needs lots of time to recover from that match. But he never ceases to amaze us all.

I remember him saying that he felt armwrestling was his calling. An I told someone recently that his manner has most likely had a positive influence on 1000s of young men, who have watched him pull. He is a great role model in my opinion.
I think I will remember this match for the rest of my life, it really defines John's fighting spirit. He looks so tiny next to Leonidas, but size isn't the most prominant factor in the equation when you are the GREATEST ARM WRESTER OF ALL TIME. I think at 10:00 in the first round when Leonidas took John's wrist from him the room got quiet as the crowd realized that John was in big trouble and probably over, but unexpectedly John suddenly stood tall and transitioned into a press and dropped Leonidas while the room exploded. I had to re-watch that a few times. And John was just getting started!
John is the greatest story in sports and it's a shame it doesn't get the coverage it deserves. Better than what LeBron James is doing at 40 or anyone else in sports at an advanced age. This man is 60! He crushed this young stud. Amazing
John is something else. To HOLD leonidas for that long 3 inches over the pad and bring it back all 3 times....his experience and 45 years of old man strength won him that. Incredible pulling.

I remember him saying that he felt armwrestling was his calling. An I told someone recently that his manner has most likely had a positive influence on 1000s of young men, who have watched him pull. He is a great role model in my opinion.

No one has his level of experience and I swear I think he's stronger now than during the peak of his career.
I think I will remember this match for the rest of my life, it really defines John's fighting spirit. He looks so tiny next to Leonidas, but size isn't the most prominant factor in the equation when you are the GREATEST ARM WRESTER OF ALL TIME. I think at 10:00 in the first round when Leonidas took John's wrist from him the room got quiet as the crowd realized that John was in big trouble and probably over, but unexpectedly John suddenly stood tall and transitioned into a press and dropped Leonidas while the room exploded. I had to re-watch that a few times. And John was just getting started!
John is the greatest story in sports and it's a shame it doesn't get the coverage it deserves. Better than what LeBron James is doing at 40 or anyone else in sports at an advanced age. This man is 60! He crushed this young stud. Amazing
John is something else. To HOLD leonidas for that long 3 inches over the pad and bring it back all 3 times....his experience and 45 years of old man strength won him that. Incredible pulling.

Ich dachte, Leonidas hätte eine echte Siegchance, weil John in vier seiner letzten fünf Spiele große Probleme hatte. Ich dachte, das Alter würde John endlich einholen. Wenn man sich dieses Spiel ansieht, sieht es so aus, als wären es nur Verletzungen gewesen, die John zu kämpfen hatten, und jetzt ist er gesund und wieder da, wo er im Jahr 2022 war.
Leo ist gerade mal am Anfang einer Karriere. Also alles gut. An Niederlagen baut man sich auf. John mit 60 ..einfach irre :D
