- The back (or rear mount) is one of the most dominant positions in Jiu-Jitsu, with the highest submission success rate. The collar choke from the back, in particular, is the most effective submission in the gi. However, even with solid control, it can be difficult to submit opponents who have strong defense, especially if you focus on just one submission attempt. That’s why chaining attacks is crucial: by continuously applying pressure and transitioning between submissions, you can disrupt your opponent’s defense and create openings for a finish. In this video, we explore different pins and submissions we can transition to from the collar choke, along with discussing the mindset behind chaining attacks.
