We all know Crew Dogs run this joint. I was proud to be a red rope for my class and proud to say morning 62 to barking brothers to fire them up for the rest of the day. Calling cadence on the way to class and letting other squadrons know we were the best. :) The only mistake I made was getting over 200 people to whistle the Bridge on the River Kwai song before the sun came up, which turned out to be loud enough to wake a few people up a little early. It was beautiful while it lasted and when was I going to have the chance again. Look the song up, you know it even if you think you have never heard it and imagine around 250 students marching to class. I enjoyed my stay at Sheppard learning my craft for the A-10 and had great instructors, so I will always be grateful for the knowledge and friendships I gained there.

Very good representation of the Air Force’s crew chiefs. The men who put these aircraft in the air with nothing short of hard work and dedication along with long hours every single day. They deserve all of the credit they can get 🤙🏽 #wekeepthemflying #aimhigh

The actual work in the real AF is nothing like what is presented in these films. I graduated as an Honor graduate but it meant nothing at Base X. I also graduated as an honor graduate from the field training school. Again, it went no where. We worked like dogs. We were rode hard and put away wet (as the saying goes). To this day, I have to say that I had some of the best NCO supervisors. They taught me so much about leadership. It was a useful experience but it was hard. QC was the biggest joke on that base.

1996 grad. IA ANG 20 years.F16C and final run on KC 135s. I remember TSgt Barnett, SSgt Evans "Easy", SSgt "Moe" Mobley. Best men I was ever trained by. A very good time in my life. Retired 2015. Miss it at times. 3 6 2 the crew.

Bring back memories when I was at Sheppard Afb back in the spring of 1991 training to be a C-5 crew chief.

How do they get their next permanent base, is it a list they get to choose from now or it is already assigned to them. Basically do they get to pick where they want to go if applicable. Great video. I was in 362 in 1997. My son will be there shortly working the F-35. I crewed B-52H in minot. Thank you for your time.

The assignment selection depends upon what airframe the Airman is assigned to, where those airframes are based, what bases are listed on the Airman's "dream sheet," and the needs of the Air Force.

I have been there 9 times in my career, I went from crew chief to E and E and back to crewing. At first I didn’t like Sheppard but after my 3rd time I had a great time.
