30 years after having gotten out of the Air Force I still look back at my Maintenance days with fondness. I didn’t end up doing a manual job afterwards but I learned things I still use every day. And man I love jets to this day.
Campydtv , of all the aircraft what would you recommend the most? Fighters, bombers, or helicopters? (As in, what aircraft am I least likely to die working on Lol)
Being a maintainer is perhaps the crappiest thing to be in the military. You never get to do anything cool or fun. You're just the workhorse. A janitor for the ones who actually get to use equipment. Maintaining sucks.
I was a crew chief on F-16's from 1990-2003 before expediting and pro sup'ing. It had its days, but would not change a thing. Does suck that a guy working maybe 40 hours a week up at MPF makes the same as you working 50, 60, 70 hours out in the elements. But I would not have gotten the same enjoyment pushing papers.

Any maintainer knows there is no rewards, only challenges. Hold the carrot out in front of us but we never get it.

Was an f15 crew chief , don’t do this unless you REALLY WANT TO DO THIS, or else you will be miserable, other than that job is fun sometimes

Kurt Foster HH-60 is the best one to work on imo. Coming from a f-15 chief.
Go USAF aircraft maintainers..my grandson at Tinker AFB!!! I PRAY FOR ALL MILITARY. ❤
