I was stationed there for 3 1/2 years 1963-67 as an Aircrew Life Support Specialist with SAC 494th for a few years, then German AF and helicopter flight training and general aviation support. Don’t recognize anything in this video. Amazing makeover.
I went through tech school at Sheppard in 2013, I barely recognize it now! I was in the old 362 dorms, all the new dorms were either just built or being built at that time. I was one of the few guys in my class who had his car brought down by a friend, so I was quite popular on the weekends haha. Good times
The airman's club served more beer than a lot of countries. I was lucky I was in class in the AM, and back in the dorm by the time it got too hot. The number of Jackrabbits was surreal.
Its all different, but I spent some good hours in the old airman club first time I ever drank a course beer was there. They didn't sell coors on the east coast then.
Should have seen this base in the 60’s, this base has changed so much each decade since then. Other than the flight line and street layout it is almost unrecognizable.
I went through tech school there in 1982. It was 6 weeks I believe. Then on to Dover Afb. I spent the rest of my time in the USAF there. Great memories
I was there in 1979-80. To be train as a telephone linesman . Went back in 1987 to learn how to splice fiber optic cable. That base sure changed a whole lot . I wonder if White Hall is still there.
I arrived at Sheppard in Nov. 1968 after completing Basic Training at Amarillo AFB......wow, so long ago I don't even remember what the base looked like. The only thing I remember is the red and white checkered water tower with the rotating green and white light on the top. :)
I was there from Aug to Nov of 79. Nothing looks familiar. I do remember the Airmans club across the street from our barracks. Every morning we got in formation and marched to the hangar for training. The B-52 used to be kept there. I think there was a go-cart track right outside of the gate too. Long time ago.
I was born as a crew chief there in 1967. Came from Basic @ Amarillo. Did the time until August 67. Made 43151A. Worked on 121s @ Otis and McClellan. Had a pilot back up a 121 because he over shot the nose point. Told him reverse his two inboards to back up the 2 foot overshot he did. Spent a year at TSN @ Saigon working on a 123 named”The White Whale”. Thanks for seeing my home for 16weeks many years ago.
Done away with like all the major commands. Ask any of the current personnel what SAC, TAC, MAC, AFLC is, and they'll look at you with a puzzled look on their face
@@vertisjohnson219 I was there in 1970 for crypto training. There was a SAC detachment with three B-52s then. I had KP one day on the SAC part and we got to eat steaks like the aircrews did!!

Thank you for this.. I haven’t been here in years.. it’s crazy how much this base has changed
Ain't it though, can't recognize it at all.
Spent two years there 93-95 as an instructor. Had some wild weather in that part of Texas. Thanks for the memories
Dude I was there summer of 95 it was hot as hell ... I was medical tech school I think it was 383 sq
I told the wife once they had a pecker checker school there and she said what's that
I can concur about the weather.

I went thru in 1983, my old MC-130P, 660223, is now a maintenance trainer there. Think I feel old?
2007 to 2020. I got out. Been there 3 times.

I was there in December 1986-February 1987 for Air Cargo school(60531). My dad was there in 1953 for Reciprocating engine mechanic(KB-29)
As an observer looking from the perspective of what I know to be true. Whomever built this Air Force Base had survivability in mind. Well done.
I was there in February 1991 for Crew Chief training on C-5. Brings back memories.
Tech school Oct 93-Jan 94. Good times.

Were there class rooms inside the hangers? Like a building built inside, if I recall from about the same era.
I was there from July 5th of 78 to February of 79 for Biomed training and then off to Germany, then back for advanced training in 80.
July - Aug 84. Air Cargo School 60531. Had a blast there but was a rough summer that year for heat. Enjoyed my short time there though.
I was there for 60531 in 82 . Loved the airmans club. 70 degrees one day sleet the next. Crazy weather but I love Texas
My dad was stationed at Sheppard AFB from 1968 to 1970 and taught Block 5 jet engine mechanics. From there he was stationed at Zweibrucken Germany.
I was stationed at Altus AFB 1966-70 but did go down to Sheppard a couple of times. It most have been the old-old Airmen's Club we went to!😅😅
Was there in 1975. Saw the worse thunderstorm I had ever seen in my life. LOL.
Do they still have an F-111 on a pedestal?
I was there, in ‘84.
Wow i barely recognize since early 1990s
The F5 static display used to be an old Phantom...they wouldn't allow later the Eagle because she was too classified
I was at Shepard in the latter part of 1956 For transportation Teck school. Would never recognize it now.
Was there Nov 82, 431 school. As a lot of mentioned I don't recognize any of it. Hope for the betet
Spring of 70 for me, tech school, 431 acft maintenance. Luckily I had my car there so I got to see a lot of Texas!
There in 85 for tech school sucked. I remember there was a bar outside the gate somewhere that soerved a 60 oz steak though
I was there in 1974!
I was there in ‘84.
Things sure have changed since 1978....
Did all my 3 AFSC's there. Alot has changed in 16 years.
My third duty station, assigned to ATC training Vietnamese pilots during Vietnam war. Shipped out overseas in 1974…
I grew up on air force bases in the USA and in Japan.
Do what you gotta do
You misspelled the name of the base. Just........WOW.
Out of 10 stateside and 10 overseas they gave me Torrejon Spain...I studied my ass off...
My second tech school.
I was there in 1978 and 1979

Is this a TAC base? So small.
It's under AETC
Looks gigantic compared to any base I was stationed or TDY.
It was an ATC base.
Do keesler afb:)
No people. ATC ?

@@tma-1704 I was there TDY in 75, and there was 2 BUFF's, and 2 tankers there on alert.
Terrible video, doesn't even show half the base and is very outdated compared to current conditions
