Well said. A lot of people are calling Sandy a bitch but you have to look at it from her perspective, she had to share the love of her life with someone else, who doesn’t even want Frank. And yes while Claire gave Frank a choice, upon learning of his affair and discovering he did in fact have feelings for Sandy, she never made a move to get a divorce so he could pursue Sandy in public so he could learn to move on and have another chance at happiness.
I understand Sandy’s feelings all too well sadly, because I too know what it is like to have to share the love of my life with someone else, to not be able to express my relationship in public because the other is in an empty marriage.. and it hurts.

Frank was selfish. Claire was selfish. But Claire was pretty upfront about her selfishness. She wanted Jamie and she was pretty clear that she wasn't going to act like it didn't happen and love Frank properly again. Frank though was secretly selfish. He chose to raise Bree in a loveless, sexless marriage and not commit to Sandy. He had plenty of opportunities to give up the facade - the most important one being that he knew Jamie was alive and Claire returned to him. When he brings up taking Brianna to England without Claire, he makes zero mention of Jamie being alive. It might have healed some pain between them tbh. Both could finally be with the people they loved. But he was selfish because that would mean he would lose Brianna once she found out he wasn't her real father. So Frank is not innocent by any means. Sandy shouldn't have gotten involved with all of that. Bree didn't even know Frank and Sandy were together - can you imagine the fallout?

I can’t believe that people are actually blaming Claire for Frank’s decisions. And even blaming her for not be able to love him like she used to. Feelings are not like buttons besides frank is the selfish one and he is the one that wanted to have everything the marriage and the mistress this speech would suit frank more than Claire. Frank did not even embrace her and her experience how to love someone who expect you to act all the times. He was selfish not like Jamie who got her to the stones to go back to frank and Frank found that Jamie is alive and did not even give her the choice to go back and live a normal life with whoever he wants

This is so true. Claire was prepared to raise Brianna on her own. It was Frank's choice to raise Brianna, to be married to a women he knew didn't love him, and he never left. He had every chance to. Yes it was harder in the 50s and 60s to get a divorce, with public shame but it was possible and he didn't choose that path. While Claire isn't completely without blame, he made his own choices. Sandy will have to come to terms with that.

I guess she felt that Claire should have been the one to make it clear to Frank that they were never going to be a couple the way Frank wanted them to be. So, she thinks Claire should have "cut the rope" and just divorced him so he wouldn't be hopeful to eventually be a family. She never commented on Frank’s mistress, and never hid the fact that she did want the divorce and she was more than willing to share custody. And then this woman reads her to filth cause she’s grieving and is mad at the wrong person. I’ll always be pissed that Claire didn’t retaliate. She didn’t deserve ANY of what was said to her.

In the end, does it matter that Claire and Frank were unhappy if he still clung to his feelings for Claire? Sandy is right, Claire couldn't appreciate Frank throughout their marriage after the life she had with Jamie, but Frank himself decided not to leave the marriage for all those years. He kept Sandy in the shadows and fueled her feelings towards him without being able to commit fully in any way. How is that any better than what Claire did?
I know, they had Bree, he didn't want to risk getting enstranged from her, but Claire would have never kept her away from him. It was his decision not to leave, and chose not to take a real chance with the woman who loved him. And the outcome was it was ok! I'm still accepted! There's not much character actually to the story. I would love the time travelling aspect and old English and Scottish era. But the series is so badly written and one sided. I don't like how Claire can be so dumb in the first seasons putting herself into trouble. And how this series is centered to love making scenes and painting the fantasy of "I'm making mistakes, but everyone will still love me and will never let me go". But that's all to it really. Personal opinion but I genuinely felt sorry for all of them, mostly Frank. So, the love of your life disappears for a year was it? And suddenly comes back PREGNANT. Now what really happened is totally fictional, but for the sake of the series, Claire really did travel back in time and came back with Jamie’s child. Imagine if that happened to your SO, it’d be pretty hard to believe he or she traveled back and fell in love with someone from that time period and came back with a child from said person. Frank’s mindset was trying to piece the puzzle. But in all the confusion, Frank loved Claire, and for him, it was absolute heartbreaking, like she was stolen from him, granted love sometimes happens far from our control, she was still ‘his’ in a matter of speaking. So now, Claire is completely devoted towards Jamie and simply doesn’t love Frank anymore, while he’s still facing the fact that she’s over him without there ever being a time for him to adjust to this sentiment from her. He wasn’t ready to leave her (and as mentioned from Candy) I don’t think he was ever ready to leave because he deeply loved Claire.
Then came Brienne and he grew attached! He was her step father but gave her all the love and attention Jamie would’ve and that was beautiful! Yet rather then move along and forget Jamie, Claire held on just as frank did her, and that was their problem. Instead of starting out their family, she was never able to forget Jamie. Claire and Jamie were meant to be, Frank was her first love but sadly not her true love, but Claire was still his, and once upon a time he was also hers as well, before she went back in time.
He found Candy and began an affair with her because he couldn’t handle the way his marriage was going, but one thing is to have a fling with someone and another to truly love someone, and we all know who was who for him.
Shit like this happens and it’s sad, a heartbreak after another, a never ending cycle. Jaime and Claire, Claire to Frank, and ultimately Frank to Candy.
At first I felt angry towards Claire fro treating Frank so badly when he was doing his best to make the marriage work. But in the end I realized that love also matters, and her love for Jamie was also pure and beautiful. Still I felt so sad for Frank being left behind, and even more so when he died and unable to find happiness during the chaos that was his life. A true tragedy. But no one is to blame, thats just life. Sometimes it’s unfair and cruel

idk why people hate on this woman so much when she and claire really aren't that different...? was she a mistress? sure she was. but then again in a way so was claire. she was married to frank and she still married jamie in the past and had his children. not only that, but she lived for the next 20 years loving another man while being with frank. i'm not condemning claire's behaviour, i'm just saying it would be kind of hypocritical to condemn frank or frank's mistress if you're going to sanctify claire. i think that's the point of this scene: love is messy, and there's never going to be somebody that keeps their hands completely clean when you're that in love. claire married another man and had his child because she was so in love with him. frank didn't separate from claire even though it probably would've saved him and claire from much agony because he was so in love with her. this woman became frank's mistress because she was so in love with him. everybody's a bit shady tbh.

Her being a mistress is not the problem. Her having the nerve to blame Claire for her and Frank not being there and to do it while Brianna was there is the problem for me. And while I agree that nobody's hands are completely clean in here, it's hard to compare Claire and Sandy's situations as Sandy didn't not go the extreme situation that Claire went through.

Cocogurlluv thing is that Brianna actually knew about sandy and knew that her parents marriage was only one of obligation and duty I’m quoting from DOA in saying that . I happen to think this is why Diana married laoghaire and Jamie to show that both Claire and Jamie had relationships of obligation that their hearts weren’t truly in because of their broken hearts

So u want to compare someone who was transported back in time, had to marry another man to save their lives and somehow fell in love in the middle of a war while being chased and sexually assaulted by a man that looks just like her husband with someone who started making googly eyes with her married teacher one day

Personally, i think one of the biggest mistakes the writers made, was, to humanize the character of Frank, as well as give him more space in the series, i think that this change, did not help Claire's character, HER story, her story with Jamie, the relationship between Jamie and Brianna, and the character of the latter !!! ; I understand the reason for this choice, but i really think it was a HUGE mistake !!! ; I would have preferred an anti-hero kind of character !! .

yes frank had many opportunities to leave claire but he never stayed for her. he knew she could never love him. he stayed for brianna. he was sterile and could never have children so raising a child instead of leaving a single mother on her own WAS his decision. he loved brianna as his own till the end. its too bad claire can't stand that everything is not about her.

Cocogurlluv maybe because claire didn't care. the mistress didn't even know frank as long as claire did and yet she way more moved about frank's death than claire. claire didn't have to love frank thats fine but she shouldn't lie to herself and everyone pretending like she did

waves That makes no sense. So, because she didn't take a moment that was supposed to be about honoring Frank's life and make it all about her she didn't care as much? Also, she's just living the lie that BOTH she and Frank agreed to. What was she supposed to do? Stand up on a table and announce to his friends and colleagues that she didn't love the man? No. She tried to keep the day about Frank. The mistress made it about herself.

    • @vicewaves369
      @vicewaves369 5 лет назад

Cocogurlluv Cocogurlluv yeah claire didn't care about him. and the mistress simply had a private conversation with claire. at funerals people make a speech about how much that person meant to them. its not like she called claire out in front of everyone and made a scene. THAT is making it about yourself.

Like the fact Claire gave Frank an out and he didn't take it. I take a lot issues with the way Claire treated Frank when she got back. I thought she was really unfair to him, but this is one confrontation she didn't deserve. She's being blamed for Frank's decision now.

Claire really screwed over Frank. Claire fell out of love with him through the choices she made. Frank did what was right and suffered for it. It's always been the sad part of the story. As beautiful as her love with Jamie is the other side of the coin the betrayal and hurt she caused Frank is there.

I understand the thought process and my heart also hurts for this version of Frank (because book version was a dick). But I'm still confused as to how people manage to put so much blame on Claire. The girl tried many times and I mean MANY to find her way back to the stones and go home. If you watch the show, circumstance after circumstance stopped her; it was never her choice to not go back UNTIL she finally fell in love with Jamie. She even got harassed by Black Jack Randall twice in attempts to go home (once when she first comes and the second time when she runs away from Jamie and the group of men). She tried to go back EVEN WHEN she was falling in love with Jamie. The girl tried her best and fought her hardest to leave and while I understand the situation is complex and Frank really did go through a lot, it's hard for me to give equal blame to Claire. In this whole situation, she made mistakes, but I don't she heartlessly cheated on Frank; her situation culminated into her finally deciding to stay, but that girl fought every step of the way to go back, so it's hard for me to agree with the statement that she fell out of love with him "through the choices she made."

Everyone in the comment is caping for Claire because Frank chose to stay because he wanted to be a father but like Sandy’s not wrong either? Claire used Frank and stayed because of her promise to Jamie. She waved it constantly in Frank’s face that Bree wasn’t his daughter. She threatened to use his adultry against him if they divorced. If she truly wanted to leave, she would have divorced him herself. She wanted him to be the bad guy so she would feel deserves in her righteousness. None of these characters were perfect but Claire doesn’t get called out on her shit enough.
