Fern is very unlikable. She constantly calls Stark a pervert when he’s not and just tries to help, and she also looked at Stark naked without his consent. That is very messed up. I’m a Catholic and was told this show was wholesome and had no fan service and that was clearly not the case. The show has several moments of fan service, while it’s not as “obnoxious” as some other shows it’s still definitely there and it’s still definitely something I’m not letting my kids watch. Plot gets boring real fast after the first few episodes. Very overrated show.

I started reading the manga because of all the hype and I had to drop it about 20 chapters in. It tricks you by setting up an interesting concept but then quickly turns into a pointless walking simulator like you said. Apparently the later arcs are even slower paced than the beginning. Thanks maad I was thinking to watch this because the idea of a immortal character or long aging character mentally dealing with their friends passing away as they still live sounded interesting but yeah this is not what I’m searching for, personally I think that with elves this kind of story does not work well I mean this set up like having a party and stuff is always going to be cringe, but like with elves I don’t feel it works very well because if we think about a elf is more mentally ready to handle such emotional events because they are meant to live long I think this kind of story would have work better, like the main character being secretly cursed with immortality before killing their enemy and then they don’t realize they are cursed until their friends starts aging, and because of this curse they isolate themselves because they don’t want to make a connection or stay friends, but realize they made a mistake and try to fix it till their friends have already reach old age, and most have died, and our main character would take care of one of friends last grandchildren and the friend of our main character would die and together with the friends grandchild, they would go out to a journey to figure out how lift the curse, and we actually could get some interaction with friends grandchild asking the main character how was their grandpa when they were their age and stuff, you know, so we could get some flashbacks( I like flashbacks OK!!!!) okay like I was saying by this desire to remove to lift this curse they would have to face hardships and stuff, while our main character deals with the mental toll that immortality has had on him and learns to appreciate life and teaches the Friends grandchild to appreciate their limited time or something cringe like that. Will this be for everyone? No but this is the best way I can think of fixing it plus I’m not a writer I’m just a viewer
Finally someone said it. I was so excited for Frieren but it’s such a hollow plot and poorly written. The animation is beautiful but I think the hype is riding on that too much. I kept waiting for character development but everything comes too easy for the protagonists it’s hard to get invested

As long as you have *ideological*, *emotional*, *philosophical* or *Physical* conflict(s) then you have a story that will move with momentum.

My Anime List audience is freaks, so paying attention to the ratings there will only drive you crazy, because the best quality works will stay at the bottom, while the crappiest works will always be at the top. So if you don’t like it, then that’s fine since it’s your taste, who am I to judge. 4: A copy of the Naruto Exam Arc??…I genuinely don’t know where you got this idea. I hope you can be more specific with me on that one. 5: The world building is a bit too complicated to be considered “lazy” and “half assed”, that’s for isekai anime. 1: It is literally called Frieren: BEYOND JOURNEYS END. Of course flashbacks would be an integral part of the series and the core value.
2: Just because you don’t see characters yelling every second and then having emotional swings every minute doesn’t make them an “emotionally stunted robot” character.
3: It doesn’t take too much of your time to realize that this is more of a slice of life fantasy, than an action fantasy, so this part is entirely subjective. So if you don’t like it, then that’s fine since it’s your taste, who am I to judge.
4: A copy of the Naruto Exam Arc??…I genuinely don’t know where you got this idea. I hope you can be more specific with me on that one.
5: The world building is a bit too complicated to be considered “lazy” and “half assed”, that’s for isekai anime. While I will admit it does take the format of a hero defeating the demon king storyline to start with, it quickly strays away from that and focuses on a normal fantasy adventure with mostly slice of life events.
6: Like I said in my first reply, it’s fine if you don’t like it, but calling it “dogsh*t” from a story perspective is a bit of an oversight and is a more subjective viewpoint.
