Very interesting approach with asking singers to sing at a tempo that feels natural! Pretty compelling and it elucidates the importance of your A Tempo project in general. I feel like you're uncovering the innate beauty of these musical pieces that might otherwise be lost when played at the modern, faster tempos that we normally see today.

Dear Mark, thank you for your comment! It was a fascinating experiment for me, too. Indeed the aspect of "cantability" is one of the most important criteria for musical interpretation. In this case it points towards a noticeably slower tempo - in other cases it might prevent an all too slow approach...! Thank you for taking interest in the A Tempo Project!
