Boy do I know how you feel. I moved into my new home in Sept 2022 after 4 years of planning and construction. 2 of those years I lived in a literal storage room and had to shower at the gym. Then I moved into a small travel trailer next to the construction for 2 years. It had a shower but no hot water so I heated water in the tea kettle. You will REALLY savor those first few showers. Good luck to you.

Go the Cats! You are working so hard, I’m glad technology these days mean you can listen to or even watch a footy match from across the other side of the world before hearing the results & to help with minimising homesickness! That’s what we missed the most living overseas for years, (decades ago) without being able to follow the footy. For the grand final one year, my husband came back to Melbourne (for work), watched the match while taping it, then jumped in the car with VCR tape & frozen 4n20 pies in hand, to be driven to the airport in time for the flight back. At the other end, we drove straight to a sports bar with the tape. It was packed with fellow Aussies after the word had got around, ready to watch the replay 18 hrs after the match originally started, & while eating a heated up meat pie!! I hope you get to have your longed for shower rather than a bath after a long day’s work soon! You are both amazing, as is Truffle! Thank you for sharing this journey.

I can't imagine the hard work that has to go with every step of this remarkable restoration.
As a side note when watching her down on the floor lifting up tiles, etc. I thought to myself "that's the best example of how sweat equity works."
The expression "sweat equity" in my country (USA) means the owners themselves turn in and do the labor needed for whatever purpose.
I can't wait to see the next episode with the tremendous effort and work. Congratulations also with your determination that everything will be done so well with the attention to detail.

'Carn the Cats'!!! 😀❤I laughed when I heard 'got to stop work for the footy'. No matter where you are in the world, Geelong crops up somewhere more than any other city in Australia. I went for a job interview in Melbourne once upon a time. I had to face 3 people & the last question I was asked was, 'what footy team did I support?' Oh boy! I knew it would make a difference of failure or success. I could've lied & guessed what footy team the boss supported being in Melbourne. I had 15 chances to pick what Melbourne footy team it could be, but I went with honesty instead. I told them Geelong! I got the job & it turned out my new boss had a photo of Gary Ablett Snr (AKA GOD), on his desk from the days when he played for Hawthorne. Clearly I picked the right team.

Thank goodness you didn't say Collingwood. Always controversial, as is teams from interstate. In Melbourne, Geelong is always a safe bet, and some always has a friend or relative from the country who barracks for the Cats. (Mind you I was always the lonely Cat's supporter at all my different jobs.) PS: Sad to hear of the health issues that Ablett Snr is facing, along with so many others. What a stunning player!

There's a long way to go, but glad to see the boys getting back to form and the new team starting to gel after a slow start. (Then again I think we were like that last year...) Secondly, the challenge to create that first shower is one step closer to becoming a reality and not a dream. An enormous effort by the whole team. Good luck with this, and all your other dreams and endeavours. Your determination is amazing.... Go Cats!

It makes complete sense to have laundry rooms on the floors with all the bedrooms, as that is the place where most of the washing is generated. Awesome, I’m a believer in the ability to adapt, too many bone heads with more money than brains that want to “Remodel” not “Restore”
    Keep it up

Please please always wear your masks - get one for puppy too --- my husband a heritage contractor for 40 years - never made an exception but still medical repercussions -- protect your lungs.

Restoration of these chateaus should be handled by a large construction and architecture firm. They literally need to be stripped down to the stone walls and then have an entire new support structure built within, along with mechanicals, because they are too old, and unsafe for do it yourself crews to work on. Plus the enormous cost of restoring these wonderful chateaus is just too much money and work for owners. It would be nice if many of these abandoned homes sitting in disrepair all across the French countryside were completely rebuilt to modern day standards while preserving the facade and any other period details that need to be, and were turned into Bed and breakfast hotels, so that many folks could get a chance to enjoy them.

AGAIN your architect is from the Palace of Versailles, so the French Gov is well involved in all your renovations. Makes me wonder if you actually own this chateau or if you are just renters.

We certainly are the owners of Purnon. We purchased Purnon in 2020 at which point the chateau was in grave peril. We immediately started the restoration of the château roof and facades in order to save Purnon. The first step in this process was appointing a monument historic architect. We selected Frédéric DIDIER who, as you stated, is the chief architect at Château de Versailles. We selected M.DIDIER for many reasons primarily however due to the fact that he his an 18th century specialist. We cover this in previous videos on our channel which you may like to watch to familiarise yourself with the enormous project we have undertaken here , at our own personal risk, to restore Château de Purnon.

@ Thank you for the clarification. In your video I find it confusing. Per example the time it is taking to do one side of the roof. Why, are there technical details? More rebuilding and restoration that was envisage at first. Now installing bathrooms, running water, heating system? This would be helpful to know. Wishing you happy restoration.
