Watch Brian's video's all the time. I like the size of both of these knives. Thanks for the opportunity. Two knives, one on left one on right side. Seriously would give one to brother.
Love your videos Ben. Going through and watching them and learning amazing amounts of info. Just wondered what a "hot spot" was. I have heard you mention it multiple times and I figured I wasn't the only one who didn't know what that was. Thanks.
Like these knives a lot. The 1095 steel is my first choice, for outdoor activities and the SCHF series by Schrade, gives the most bang for the buck and I like them all.
Great review on both knives. Thanks for letting me be part of the giveaway. I'd love to see a side by side field sharpening test with these two blades. A proper one going from coarse ,to fine, to strap.
nice review, thanks. I liked the looks of the 42d better (colors) the 42 did seem to function a bit better, however, I might have more of an issue keeping the 42 sharpened as I am not very practiced in sharpening a recurve
I like them both and it would be hard to choose witch one to get. I think I like the SCHF42D. The video on these knives was a good demo of there performance in camp jobs.
I like both, both are great looking and Schrade quality. If I had to pick just one it would be the 42D. I like the cut of blade on it more. I personally like that straighter edge style on my knives. I'm sure both are phenomenal products. Just a personal preference really. Great video bye. Thanks.
Excellent review comparing these blades that was spot on showing the difference when batoning & the recurve definitely does take stress off your hands and wrist when feathersticken. I just recently started getting into knives and the Schrade Schf52 and Schf 42 were my first purchases, Iove both of these knives BUT I HIGHLY recommend newbs (like myself) to be careful sharpening that 42's recurve. I watched all kinds of DIY videos and thought oh thats a piece of cake no problemo....NOPE it does take a bit of skill, lets just say I screwed mine up right out of the gate:( It works now but the factory grind is long gone which bumbed me out but its a great knife and for $45 its awesome. Once again great review man spot on, the only knife I see that can compete at that price point is the Gerber Strongarm, and those blades are two completely different styles.
+Cricket Just Cricket Wow where do you live? Im guessing Canada, the inflation up there is horrible. The Schf51&52 is so much more comfortable then the 36&37 and the 52 for me is such a great all around wood eating beast of a blade. I can't wait for the Condor Swampromper coming out soon that knife looks promising, but the price point on the Gerber Strongarm is awesome at 45$-50 its a great deal here. When you live somewhere that has higher prices you really have to get the best bang for the buck and the Strongarm is really well made.
Airik1111 yup you guessed it. But even when are dollar was a little higher things were always inflated way above lol. So all I'm really hoping is we get new schrade stuff on Amazon under $80 lol. Yea I do want to pick up thr strongarm! Maybe wait for a sale hopefully
If I was going to choose, I would buy the 42D knife instead because I love the design of that knife better and I am getting a KA-BAR knife similar to the SCHF46D and waiting to receive it.
These two knives SCHF42 and SCHF42D are great looking knives there's everything to like about them the blade the handle grip, and the size great for splitting wood SCHRADE always put out Awesome knives love to win Thanks for the chance
I'm looking for some info if anyone knows about the us army ever making a 12" trench knife, I have one but can't find any information, would be greatly appreciated
Personally, I would use the 42 as a knife that I would take hunting. That belly would serve me well while opening up game. However, I have never owned a knife with that shape of blade. So it seems to me that it would be difficult to strop or sharpen. I think I would choose the 42D. But before I go get one, I'm going to wait to see some more reviews of the new full tang Mora. Thanks Ben. Take care
Living Survival If I have a knife with a really dull edge, I use the Lanksy 3 stone system. After its a razor's edge, I strop on a 1/8th inch piece of leather on my desk. I'm thinking I would need a hanging strop to do the inside belly
Great comparison video. Both look like awesome knives and I would love to own either (both?).... leaning a little towards the 42 - simply because I don't own a knife with that much belly. Also probably do more fine work than batoning. Now I just need to get me a steak........ ;-)
+Dan Hasson i purchased a red rhino customs sheath for my schf9 and scales from Snarski, together they cost 5x as much as the knife :) but i love the set-up
Ben, great video brother. Loving the 42D :D Beef looks good to hehe. Also on a side note, what camera are you using please? Awesome quality as always. Stay Safe out there :D Chris
More issues with videos simply not loading on my stupid Chrome, I cannot figure out why some days it is fine and others not, half your videos Chrome will never let me watch! GAHH! Wanted to see a good head to head, good job, going to load and watch now lol. Schrade makes good affordable stuff as far as I can see right? Seems that way! TY Ben.
+Barry Dutton Do you perhaps having Windows 10 with Chrome? Ihave the issue also. It is caused by Chrome and the Windows Audio system. Restart Windows Audio under services, will solve the problem for me. But sometimes it will not restart and then i have to restart Windows to solve it.
+Barry Dutton Forgot to mention: When i leave f.e. YT open, the Audio system causes this more often then when i close YT when doing nothing. Hope it helps you out.
+KnifeCollector031 The Netherlands (Messenhobby) - Great advice but no --- I will never put Windows 10 on anything lol. TY brother. I honestly cannot figure this out over the months, very frustrating! Bless you man.
Those are two Very Nice Knives! Thanks Much, Have Fun, Stay Safe, Stay Warm! Ok Dang-it, now I have to rock fry some Pork Chops tomorrow afternoon and Roasted Marshmallows for Dessert! Make me hungry in the middle of the night! Oh yeah, BACON TOO!
Very nice comparison of the two blades. I love side-by-side comparisons. Helps to make the decision easier.
thanks for the review of both of these fine knives, this will help me decide what my next edc will be.
Excellent comparison! Thanks for showing several standard tests side by side!
+BearHart Outdoors thank you!

I'm not too crazy about leather sheaths but those are two fantastic blades. We'll worth the money. Thank you for sharing. Be well & stay safe.
+TheTacticalDefender thanks for watching
Like these knives a lot. The 1095 steel is my first choice, for outdoor activities and the SCHF series by Schrade, gives the most bang for the buck and I like them all.
very cool blades, I would be very happy with either one. thanks for the comparison, it is always good to see blades side by side.
Thanks for the opportunity to participate in this giveaway. ..Great job Brian. ..Beautiful knives
Great review on both knives. Thanks for letting me be part of the giveaway. I'd love to see a side by side field sharpening test with these two blades. A proper one going from coarse ,to fine, to strap.
Great tips and comparison! Not a real big fan of the slight recurve blade on the SCHF42- Love the SCHF42D, though! Thanks for the video!
I like the 42D, the color and the straight blade. Great video.
+Jose Luna thanks
Another beautiful knife from Schrade be a good birthday present for sure
nice review, thanks. I liked the looks of the 42d better (colors) the 42 did seem to function a bit better, however, I might have more of an issue keeping the 42 sharpened as I am not very practiced in sharpening a recurve
booth look very nice but something about brown leather sheath on 42d that just looks great
Great video! The 42 looks like it'd make a sweet companion for my bk4 or my kukri!
+Yo Adrian that it would.
I like them both and it would be hard to choose witch one to get. I think I like the SCHF42D. The video on these knives was a good demo of there performance in camp jobs.
With what you demonstrated, having the 2 knives gives you the ability to do Multiple Tasks.
I like both, both are great looking and Schrade quality. If I had to pick just one it would be the 42D. I like the cut of blade on it more. I personally like that straighter edge style on my knives. I'm sure both are phenomenal products. Just a personal preference really. Great video bye. Thanks.
Great video btw....gotta love that autocorrect.
Wonderful review. I like the 42 for camp chores.
man you always eat so well in your videos, it makes me hungry even though i just ate lol
+aznelite325 LOL
2 awesome knives!! Great review. Love seeing the two of these compared together!
looked to me as though the 42 sliced right thru both logs with considerably less effort than the 42D
Very nice video. Would love to have the SCHF42.
Excellent review comparing these blades that was spot on showing the difference when batoning & the recurve definitely does take stress off your hands and wrist when feathersticken.

+Airik1111 thanks for the comment
I'm jealous we don't have the schrade 52 yet :( thr 42 is $80 and the strongarm is $72-100. I love my schf 37 tho
+Cricket Just Cricket Wow where do you live? Im guessing Canada,

Do you still have these knives? I am interested in buying them. I have been looking for years.
Is there a way to get the black scales and sheath on the 42d?
I like the 42 works great on small tasks. I'll be using a hatchet for splitting. rather have two cutting tools than one
+gene smith ;)
Great set of knives, makes it kinda difficult to choose one over the other.
+MI Timberwookie i'll take the belly ;)
These two knives SCHF42 and SCHF42D are great looking knives there's everything to like about them the blade the handle grip, and the size great for splitting wood SCHRADE always put out Awesome knives love to win Thanks for the chance
I like the review on these two knives , and sure would like to try them out.
I'm looking for some info if anyone knows about the us army ever making a 12" trench knife, I have one but can't find any information, would be greatly appreciated
Awesome Video paired nicely with a Super💀Sic Knife, would love to own one😏👊👍
Would definitely love to get any one of these! Great review!
is there a purpose or specific application for the curve of the profile on the 42?
Lol...next time I'll wait til the end to ask questions..lol

+Brennan Jones takes some skill to sharpen but worth it to me

GREAT VID!! I would sand the handles for more grip with gloves .
