What Tanya said about needing to keep working toward learning to read is very important. There is this sentiment that as long as we read kids good literature, they’ll pick up reading and spelling sort of by osmosis, and that’s simply not the case. Explicit instruction is always best practice qnd we also know that early intervention yields the best results, so if a child is really struggling to take off with reading (or if we don’t even try until they show interest), we miss a very crucial window for diagnosing and addressing learning needs.
Yes, bring the teachers back more often.
