I just found your channel day before yesterday. I was streaming your videos yesterday and my husband walked in. He sat down and watched with me. He finally said "I like her". I told him I did too because you don't act all high and mighty. You're just in there cookin'. Today, we sat down to lunch and when we finished we went to the living room and Jimmy said "Put that woman on". I knew he was talking about you, so here we sit, watchin' Talli Faye cook. I'm so glad we found you. You will be a main source of ideas for good meals. We live in North Florida, about 40 miles east of Tallahassee. Can't wait for the next one...God Bless!

For those w. Diabetes make an apricot pie , need a crust. Just cut up a bag of apricots diced small put in pot & cover w. Water. Simmer until the fruit is mushed tender watch close add water if needed , just a little, once its soft mash up add a little corn starch to thicken. & bake .no sugar needed the fruit is sweet enough. Bakes @ 350 for 30 min.

I made it and made a couple of adjustments according to your comments. I was worried about sweetness also so I used caramel chips and then poured out half of the can of sweetened condensed milk and filled it back up with heavy cream mixing good before adding. Turned out great, let it cool completely and it was delicious. So rich.

That pie does look appealing once baked. Thanks for testing this one out. Sometimes, unless you make something yourself, it is hard to tell what you are going to end up with or whether you are going to like it, especially with something that has mixed reviews. Thanks for all the tips. This pie sounds like a pie someone made up in his head, putting things together he liked not out of a test kitchen. It does sound like an expensive one to make.

Hi Talli Faye!! Greetings from Durham NC!! I just found your channel yesterday and love you already!! Your remind me of my family! Lol. Your recipes pulled me in but your personality will keep me here. 😂 Your recipes (especially the chicken and dumplings 😋🤤) reminds me of the food I grew up on and also cooked for my own children. I will be sharing your channel with my youngest daughter (she's 24) so she can continue to learn how to cook because she moved all the way up to Ohio. She's not near me anymore so I can continue to teach her cooking skills but I feel like she could learn a lot from you & your videos. Also, just a word regarding the sweetness of the pie, when adding salt/salty elements to a dessert, it actually intensifies the sweetness so maybe I will leave off the extra salt on the top of it if I make this.

I have never heard of this pie. It does look good! I would like to try it but with the following changes:
    1. Like you, I would leave out
    the caramel and use the
    toffee (Heath bar bits)
    2. Leave out the broken
    graham crackers and add
    an extra cup of broken
    pretzels.
    3. I would eliminate half the
    sweetened condensed milk
and replace that with 7 oz
    of homemade clotted
    cream.
    4. Instead of adding Kosher
salt to the top, I would add
a few pinches of flaked salt.
Hopefully, these changes would significantly decrease the sweetness of the pie without affecting the texture.

My thoughts are that one reason this pie may turn out *hard* could be that the mixture was pressed to firmly into the pie shell. I would definitely smooth the top of the mixture, then ever so *lightly* press it into the shell. But, I would not compact it. I believe the mixture would *bake/melt* in the oven & produce a somewhat lighter filling. ☺️

I'm certainly a nobody... but if I were to make this diabetes in a pie shell, 😅😅 I with all the complaints she said she read...
I'd mix the butter with all the pretzels and Graham crackers before adding the sweetened condensed milk, I think you might get crisper 'flour products',
then I'd bake it into a sheet cookie instead of a deep pie. Just some suggestions from "can't get near sweets again" person. But I think I'd like this if I indeed could eat it. ❤

To cut more of the sugar, I would use half saltines/half graham crackers, unsweetened coconut. Gotta have that chocolate! Maybe some salted caramel drizzle on top. Looks almost as sweet as me (LOL).

I would use unsweetened coconut, just to help cut the sugar a little bit.

Love your video. Looks a might too sweet for us tho. Maybe a video sometime stirring up a scratch cake sometime. As grandma used to say, "Scratch us out a cake"

Looks great. Would adding a couple eggs to it help to lighten it up?

i would try with the caramel, but, i would leave out the coconut and pretzels, and maybe add some mini marshmallows maybe and i would crush the stuff

Hi Tallie Faye !! I love watching your videos and I’ve made 2 of your recipes so far. Last night I made the Texas trash pie but with a couple changes … instead of 14 oz sweetened condensed milk I used 7 oz and 7 oz Evap milk it’s still sweet but not as sweet I don’t think. Tell Buzz I said hi 👋🤣! Don’t be scared to show me more recipes now 😋
