My 2012 Jeep srt8 user manual calls for 75w140 Front/Rear diff fluid with Friction Modifiers and NV146 Mopar fluid for the transfer case. ATF+4 only for the auto transmission.
How do you find out how much additive to put in? I guess it's not very exact? A lot of different sized rear diffs that need different amounts of axle lube use that stuff, correct? So how do they all use the same amount of additive and where's the info that says that? My manual doesn't say shit.
Hello and thank you for sharing both videos. Can you please post all the Mopar parts numbers? Also, do you have the 230mm RIA with the ELSD differential?
Well, this might sound like a basic service video , but believe me when I say it’s god damn essential, My SRT was literally just due for. Service 145000km, and just before you know it, developed a very harsh shudder when steering at low speeds, and I mean it feels like it’s about to come off the front axel at times, as if you released the clutch too soon and it’s forces it to bunny hop, really scary and annoying. You’ll feel it get worse in warm weather, Now annoyingly ended up with 1: radiator Leake , then 2: front AC condenser Leake and NOT at the same time, literally lost AC cool right after the radiator change, If only they happened together I would have saved so much $$$, but shit happens, So changed radiator, then changed AC condenser and the shudder stopped, I thought it has something to do with the condenser cooling transmission lines and some steering, And not long after, 2 days later , the shudder started and stayed, AWD system disables while driving, and you lose cruise control and radar guided cruise, and my scanner showed misfire on cylinder 1 , which isn’t true at this point, that’s when I researched it and found that it’s the rear diff in bad need of new oil and a MUST have friction modifier additive and it has to be the moose friction modifier or one that meets Chrysler 4318060 standards and god knows how you can find that and here in 🇦🇺 my local dealer had the very last bottle and said they’re on back order since late last year, So lucky for me I guess, But the rear diff and clutch need this shit done as an essential part of the major service or it will kill your clutch and diff. It’s an easy to do DIY job but much easier with a lift as you can see in this video, doing the front and rear to ensure it’s back to normal. Thanks for sharing bro. Looks like us metal heads like them HEMIs LOL
absolutely when i bought the fluid the parts guy sold me enough only for the rear , even though i said to him i needed for both , he stated that is was enough for both , i told him it wasn't but whatever i will do a video not he front soon , the front is almost exactly the same as the back except you only need 1.2 quarts and no slip additive
mark sinsel another question. For doing just the differential front:rear I know Forsure I need the GL5 fluid, Now with changing both do I need to add the friction modifier? The slip stuff.. to each? I know they come in 4oz bottles. I have the 3.6 GC 2016
I had my ‘16 Grand Cherokee in the dealer to have the transfer case fluid changed for the first time and they told me they couldn’t because the fill bolt was stripped and removing it would risk breaking the entire transfer case (???). I call BS since it’s literally just a bolt. They literally said to lie about a transfer case problem so they could replace the entire thing under warranty.
Just did thanks! Fluids were about 257$ alone I’m doing the job myself on Sunday! Thanks for posting this kind of videos! You going to save me at least 400$ on labor 😅
mark sinsel Got it, thank you. By any chance do you know at how many miles or how frequently I should get my transmission oil changed ? Couldn’t find it in my owners manual
From what I understand there is no interval it’s a lifetime transmission fluid however I am going to do a video on the transmission fluid change and show you how to do it but I recommend never change it
All of your answers about when you should replace all vehicle fluids is revealed when you subscribe to www.alldatadiy.com for your car, your wifes car & your sons car...Also reveals what every Check Engine Light Code stands for - the exact amount of Torque that's supposed to be applied to the Tire/Wheel Lug Nuts ( Every car Torque for Lug Nuts is a different Torque ) & much more info. Thomas Wilkerson dealership specs one full bottle
On a 2014 SRT with the 3023 transfer case it takes 2 quarts (1.9 litres) NOT 1.4 quarts (1.3 litres)

Frank Hernandez Yes I will post everything in a minute yes I have the same differential with ELSD
@@mrbungle6visix thanks!!
Frank Hernandez OK so I’m actually looking up the part numbers right now I’ll let you know just give me a little bit
How much did you guys charge for this job?

Absolutely love hemi and glad have it sorted
So did changing fluids help with this issue ?
Any reason why you didn’t service the front diff? Just curious. Looking to service my diffs and my transfer case soon

Doing this to my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6
Do I need to do the transcase? Or should I just do the front and rear differentials?
Daniel Dilorenzo They say that we never have to do the transfer case ever but once you hit 100,000 miles I definitely recommend it
mark sinsel another question. For doing just the differential front:rear I know Forsure I need the GL5 fluid,
Now with changing both do I need to add the friction modifier? The slip stuff.. to each? I know they come in 4oz bottles.
I have the 3.6 GC 2016
Daniel Dilorenzo just the rear only
mark sinsel I been searching everywhere and seriously I can’t find a consistent answer
i have a 2014 you think i should make the dealer change my trans fluid full flush,i like ur video ,
tony, may Absolutely should change it they say that it doesn’t need to be but it doesn’t hurt
@@mrbungle6visix thanks but its the flush that bothers me,every one say dont flush but if i bring it to the dealer, what do you think,

Maybe you should try it yourself because I doubt that the bolt is broken

Jtoxtle6.4 Just watch the video you’ll see exactly how much we put in
Just did thanks!

Jtoxtle6.4 Yes I have to watch the video to I forgot how much I put in there because this video is been a while since I’ve done it
mark sinsel Thanks again!
*sweating as they start to talk about people straight piping their SRT jeep 😬😅 (it may be a little loud)
I would never straight pipe this however this set sounds amazing now
How often should I service the transfer case and the diffs ? I have a 2018 Jeep GC 4x4 Limited
Mark Ortega I would say 30-50000 miles for diff and transfer case about 30000 but I would check the manual
mark sinsel Got it, thank you. By any chance do you know at how many miles or how frequently I should get my transmission oil changed ? Couldn’t find it in my owners manual

it’s possible, but they are definitely different part numbers
it's weird for some reason the transfer case fill plug and the rear differential drain plug are not fitting 8mm at all don't know why??????
Not sure why have You tried other sizes

Are you able to post a picture or something so I can see
For the transfercase fill until it leaks also? Or is there a different way to check if its on level?
High Point Visuals you could yes but i filled it to the edge of the hole but either way works
