I have a lot of faith for Emilia Perez
Netflix will push hard for them in USA and UK, so you better watch out
Would love to see it Emilia Perez championed for an awards campaign. Currently I’m not so sure. Need to see how it’s received when it’s released to the masses. It might be just a bit too out there and unorthodox for many. But we shall see 😁 x
I think Demi Moore could have a better chance at a Best Actress nomination than you think. Apart from it being a sort of comeback vehicle which is already a good narrative, the fact that it's somewhat widely known she's helping care for her ailing ex-husband Bruce Willis could give her campaign another boost, possibly enough to overcome genre bias.
I think you’re overestimating Anora’s appeal. Also, Seed of The Sacred Fig is looking very attractive for many nominations.
Modi did congratulate All We Imagine As Light, so it might get nominated
Damn. Many “gotta sees” from Cannes this year. My favorite film of the year a few yrs ago was Titane, and it looks like the gnarly goodness continues with The Substance. Kinds of Kindness is now only two weeks away here in the US. Excited that Emilia Perez is to be on Netflix, and I’m going to watch Audiard’s Paris 13th District (on Hulu) again to warm up. REALLY looking forward to Anora too! Thanks for ur Cannes videos.
My pleasure, thank you for watching them. I’ll have my reviews for Emilia Perez and The Apprentice up shortly. I got into a bit more depth about them there x
I don't get why Furiosa isn't doing better at the box office. It's a terrific movie, but too many fan boys who haven't seen it are putting it down, and people believe all the negatives (lies) before the positives if they read it on line.
I cant even see WN going too hard for Furiosa honestly. If Joker 2 is good, thats gonna be their top priority followed by Dune 2.
Yeah joker 2 could be a massive player. My guess is it’ll get a venice debut and have a nice fall momentum into Oscar’s season. Kinda like the first film x
Seems like the only possible picks in my opinion
The apprentice
Anora
Seed of a sacred fig
All we imagine as light
Emilia Perez
I’d love the substance in makup and hair and best actress for Moore
Emilia Perez I want lead actress for Karla and supporting for Selena
Picture for seed and all we imagine as light and Anora
I do think Emilia Perez will win comedy musical at the golden globes and comedy musical actress, is biggest competiton is wicked.
I’d love a
Erivo vs Karla
And
Selena vs Arianna battle
Zaldana is the preferred supporting actress for Emilia Perez, she's in more of it
Hehehehe you reckon wicked would come out on top in those battles for actress a supporting actress? X
@@LukeHearfield I do think is gonna be close. Erivo is a known name but I think she needs to nail defying gravity. Like Jennifer in dream girls and Anne in Les mis. I think erivos awards run is being based off of the biggest song in wicked. Ariana and Selena both starting out as child stars at competing kids television networks would make a fun battle. I wonder if the academy will give Emilia Perez an original song nom
@@alejandromangieri1495 I do think given Selena’s fan base and her makeup line , her music career and her Disney channel daisy hell even her time on Barney I could see her getting it
@@gabrielcastaneda9700 you could make similar arguments about Zoe Saldana. She's the second highest grossing actress of all time. And the co lead in the film. I think Selena comes along if Karla and Zoe are already in. It ultimately comes down to how Netflix campaigns this. I can only see the movie getting a foreign film nom as of now.
Unrelated to Oscars, but how was Emma Stone in Kinds of Kindness?
She was greet. I do think plemons gave the most interesting triptych of performances but she was still really good. X
I heard she doesn't have very substantial roles in the first two stories, which is a little disappointing by how it has been marketed (her being first billed and all). Apparently Plemons has much more screen time and interesting roles to work with. But it's nice to hear that she is still really good.
It seems to me that, since the script was written many years ago, Yorgos didn't have any roles for her and just pasted her in somewhere because he likes working with her. The last story they wrote later, so he probably had her in mind for that one. I haven't seen the movie yet, just based on multiple reactions and probably overthinking it 😅. I'll definitely check it out next month.
@@hopsfd maybe in the first one but the second story she does have a substantial role in the story. She plays Plemons wife who goes missing then is found. And she’s great in it. The third story is defo where she has the most to do. She’s really driving the plot in that one. Whereas it’s plemmons who drives the other 2.
Oh okay, that's good to hear! I don't think I'll love it as much as Poor Things, but I'm still very excited for it!
@@hopsfd I watched the press conference for it, no one asked jesse anything. Im going to stream it on Amazon like i did Poor Things
EMILIA PEREZ EMILIA PEREZ EMILIA PEREZ!
The Apprentice won’t be eligible without (some version) of a US 2024 theatrical release
You are so wrong about Plemons and Kinds of Kindness. You did the same mistake with Poor Things last year- the make of Oscars hs changed dramatically and Lanthimos has a very very strong audience nowadays

As a trans woman we need to start an Oscar campaign for Karla Sofía Gascón asap!
I’d love to see it happen. I’m just not sure the movie will be accessible to the masses and it may fall the wayside. Happy to be proven wrong though x
I can't wait to see Anora! Sean Baker is such a talented & original filmmaker.
He really is, and he’s only gotten better and better as a filmmaker. I hope Anora has a great awards journey ☺️ x
I really just clicked the video to see if Megalopolis was mentioned.
Hehehehe it was indeed - but pretty much in jest 😆 Oscar contender? Hardly hahaha
Oh.
So much Oscar’s excitement already 🎉
Hahahaha not as much as last years Cannes but we defo have some players that have emerged from the Cannes like this year x
You say in the description that you discuss Flow and The Girl with the Needle, but you didn't mention them in the video.
Yeah I only noticed after I published the video. Flow could make animated feature. Girl with the need international feature (Sweden) x
I doubt kinda of kindness will get in
have you seen it
Cannes is good at celebrating unorthodox films? Either you are joking, or your taste is extremely mainstream taste. Also, the pronunciation of Fargeats' name was ludicrous.
I think he means compared to the Oscars.
