So refreshing! With this type of reporting it almost feels like being there. You are an amazing critic… not only telling us about the films but also the festival experience.
Fantastic vlog and reviews! Sorry to hear you got assaulted, and appreciate how positive and strong you continued to be. Cant wait to see a lot of these, and Flow and Motel Destino sound right up my alley.
Seed of the sacred fig should have won the Palm, but it didn’t bc people kept saying oh it’s only winning bc the story. Hopefully it wins large at the Oscars
Think it was a disadvantage that it premiered so late. They will not admit it but I am sure the jury had decided everything before that and they didn't want to change everything.
I'm a little late into this, but I'm so sorry what happened to you and at least glad that It didn't escalate into anything much worse. I enjoyed this series of videos.
Anora, Sacred Fig and The Substance were my absolute biggest highlight of the festival, but I’m sad to not have been able to appreciate All We Imagine as Light as much as you and other people. On the ticketing side of things, not being able to see the availability of a movie you already booked when they made it possible for a different movie at the same time is INCREDIBLY STUPID. Hope they fix this issue next year, I heard that a lot of things got better in this edition (for example they added english subtitles to more venues and the site did not crash anymore).
I managed to sneak into a couple of grand lumiere premiere and can confirm the atmoshphere is completely different, but if you end up not caring about the movie it’s not really worth in my opinion. Funnily enough the best screening I’ve been to was at the Licorne (usually were lowest badges are confined) where a multitude of loud and enthusiastic people were dying to watch The Substance after the review of the previous night. Felt the sheer passion all around and the movie did not disappoint in return!
This is good to know for next time! I never tried a Licorne screening because the website always had it listed as "No English Subtitles". Is that true? - M

I think this statement is unfair to Anora and how well it was received by Cannes audiences

No, it was a really bad film.
