  • In July 1997, Gail Benedict was invited to teach aspects of the style of Bob Fosse at the Jazzart Jazz Dance Festival at Western Kentucky University. Gail was an original cast member of Fosse's 1978 show "Dancin' " and was an assistant to Fosse.
In this video Gail teaches four rarely seen "Fosse Walks" from Dancin'. Note - this is amateur video.

She's doing steps from Calypso from Fosse's Dancin'. They used to give the bumps and double bumps at the auditions. if you couldn't do the double bumps, you got cut. those with the days My dear we thought they'd never end, but they did. What fun it was to dance like that.

Now that Ive just discovered Fosse, I swear Michael Jackson dancing in " Smooth Criminal" and other moves and poses I can see were done or heavily inspired by Fosse
