    I have been blown away in the past 7-8 years when I get new students who have NEVER done isolations let alone understand why we do them in a jazz class. Unreal.

      I agree, Jolie, younger students often do not know isolations, especially of the hips and in the Luigi style epaulement of the shoulders in relation to a forward step. As in, left leg stepping forward with the right shoulder pressed forward and the left shoulder pushing back.
