Warm Regards,
Destin
I love how clearly you can see the feathers rotate to allow air through on the up-flap.
I think that's one of the best videos I've ever seen.
Aaron Everett came here to say that and glad I'm not the only one. Glorious.
Exactly my thought. This may not have been "planned," but it is fantastic.
Gurjar ghum vo
The sky, the grass, the sunflowers. Perfect background. What a beautiful video.
That moment when you wished you would have lowered your hand 3 inches.
Yep. I had one shot.
SmarterEveryDay It looks amazing. You do great stuff.
You just need to leave your windows open more often. Or visit a nursing home.
@@smartereveryday that hand makes the story perfect
This may be my favorite shot ever recorded. I love it. The cross section of the wings on the upstroke is incredible
It made me cry, and I can't quite grasp why, but ugh, it's so beautiful. 😍
This is a prime example of how only you control how you spend your time. With all the drama and useless videos trending on RUclips right now, it is nice to find little gems like this where someone can learn and discover so much. Lots of love, keep it up.
No joke I nearly cried it's so beautiful....
You have the same name as my girlfriend. lol Logan Thompson
Jacob Taylor too bad I'm better looking 😉
Sad to think this bird will never know it was the subject of such a beautiful video
Beautiful and elegant creation at work. Stunning to watch. Thank you Destin.
That's quite possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever watched.
Look how the feathers rotate on the upstroke of the wing to let the air bypass, and then fold back into a plane on the downstroke. Amazing
Oh my gosh I love Shell In The Pit music so much
Needed this one today. Thanks, Dustin!
So tranquil. You're the best man keep it up 👌🏻
Thomas McMahan That's the word, isn't it? "Tranquil"... The video has a sort of meditative quality to it.
Amazing video, and your choice of the soundtrack is really great! Thank you for sharing.
I really enjoyed the translucence of his/her feathers as they spread to begin flight. Nature is cool.
⬅️⬅️? 🤫
The most beautiful thing can only be seen in less than a few seconds.
Wow I just loving seeing this video over and over again
Love your work and always stay healthy to see more and learn more.
I love how the feather separate to reduce the drag on the up stoke.
😘
Destin, your love for the world around you evident. I like your videos very much! This was an amazing shot. Please try to do more flight videos with bats, 🐝, squirrels, and other birds!!!
You make people look closer at the every-day-things with an appreciation of the details.
Ps19
Note how his shoulders rotate back so far that when he first raises his wings the wing is traveling nearly perpendicular to the earth. He doesn't spread his feathers and lets the air through as he does on the second flap, instead he actually twists the whole wing so it's "leading edge" is pointed straight up.
I’ve never noticed how the flight feathers separate when the wings are on their way back up to allow air to pass between and then re-lock for maximum surface area!
Top 10 videos I've ever seen... Stunning.
I really don't get how you still don't have millions of subscribers. Love your videos.
Nature's design is beautiful. Well done.
This is probably one of the best videos on the entire internet.
What a magnificent creation!
There is so much going on here that I have never thought about. I need to watch this a few more times to take it all in.
The song is the best minute and 33 seconds of my day
I love your work!
And i am very interested in slow motion, because it just explains you the craziest things that you would not belive if you only heard it.
For example last week i filmed a butterfly in slow motion and me and my family where absolut amazed by how everything on this tiny insekt is working togheter to create the motion it needs to stay up in the air.
Very cool. It's amazing how fast their little brains function. Wing and eye coordination happens so much faster when they are so close together and the mass is so little. Nature at its finest.
That is amazing, also such a good reference for animators.
Absolutely stunning.
Idk why but this made me tear up. It's so beautiful!
There is someone you miss, that you didnt picture in your mind directly while watching the video, but it swelled in the subconscious heart area.
Its been almost 11 months since it was released, but it still gives me goosebumps and makes me nearly tear up. So beautiful
Hey Destin,
Thx for all the great videos mate...
Currently I’m learning swimming & I’ve noticed most beginners find it hard to breathe while swimming.
It’d help immensely if you could post a slo-mo video of swimmers up close.
Simply beautiful...
Beautiful and fitting music.
Simply beautiful
Do you know how wide my smile was watching this? I love birds, thank you so much. Is this some kind of sparrow?
I actually re-learnt birds jump a few days ago while I was researching what would be the wingspan of a biologically accurate dragon. I had monk parakeet as a kid and, yeah, I remember feeling the pressure against my body whenever he took off. It was so normal to me I just took it for granted.
Simply Amazing!
Weird question.... I may be looking into this too much but on the up stroke you can see the shape of the outer feather (primary and secondary). Almost like the bird is channeling the air flow through the wing. Do you think that motion produces lift? Control of body motion ? Or are birds doing that to reduce drag on the up stroke of the flap?
As I watched this for the second time, I lost focus of the video as I got distracted to a moment of praising the Father with my eyes closed. Open them again, and see "Genesis 1:20" haha. Beautiful touch, Destin, God bless you & may the grace of the Father of Glory abound in your life & your family.
Love this
As a student of aircraft design, this is one of the most fascinating things I could watch, thanks for making awesome video's :)
Love your videos!! The first instagram link goes to a different page not yours FYI
Beautiful!
I just had a thought: More you learn about nature, more you want to learn. Its like drinking alcohol.
BTW: beautiful shot
No, with drinking you blackout and can OD. With learning you can learn new things every day.
And me i hate getting shitfaced, 1 beer and a pack of smokes is enough for me.
So majestic
The fact that this whole video is just one fifth of a second is crazy
Hey Destin, I'm amazed how you manage to capture the small things in our everyday life and show how fascinating they could be if you only take your time and look a little closer. It really puts a fresh perspective to life.
Recently came across the term 'counter steering' which is used mainly by motorcyclists. It basically is when going above ~15MHP steering the handlebar to the right would make your bike turn to the left and vice versa. From what I heard this feels natural when doing it but thinking about it in theory feels really counter-intuitive. Do you think you could look into it with a scientific approach and why different speeds affect this fenomenon differently?
Cheers
Nice touch with the music!!
This is freakin awesome Destin.
This is art
Run with this it’s wonderful! I also am subscribed to a person on RUclips named LesleytheBirdNerd she has gotten very close to all kinds of wild birds. Do a slow motion of the blue jays . She just posted one about it but your camera is off the hook and that also means she is into the topic.
That was breath taking!
I love these topic, i want to see more these slow mo-bidio.😊
this is really amazing, i'm gonna draw this bird, thanks for this incredible video! :D
It's a juvenile Chipping Sparrow if you wanted to look for reference photos of other angles.
I came here because I’m basically trying to animate a bird taking off
But I ended up loving this video
Idk it’s just so interesting seeing this slowed down
You never really think about those things whenever it happens in you day to day life
Smarter Every Dave videos I don't hesitate to like before I've even watched the video.
And usually by the end I'm ready to like it a couple more times.
Just wow.
Aaron Reichert as long as you're pressing the like button odd number of times
I know 213 milliseconds isn't a long time, but I'm still amazed at how little your hand moved relative to the bird.
Those are some nice sunflowers Dustin!
I think the tail goes down not only to minimize friction, but to give the bird little extra push while it is jumping
its just magnificent
Why did this make me tear up?? 😂😅
This is a great refrwnce, thanks!
Nailed the shot!
To begin to realize that other lifeforms live life at differing frame rates of time, all around us!
Animation sudent here. This is super helpful, thank you
why does this make me wanna cry
best video ever
so neat yet so complex.
Very good and helpful indeed
it looks like the tail press might also assist the hop from your hand.
Fascinating content, Destin!
he also uses his wings for the first jump. They are exactly on the top when his jump is done, that gives him extra momentum.
Amazing!!!
Interesting how the feathers spread at 0:30, prefectly spread out so that the wing is one feather thick for most of the wing.
Hi, may I have permission to use this in a creative video project?
Awesom video !!
Amazing, Beautiful!
Liked for the music :)
Thanks for the vid but i wish the camera would have been slightly further up
Flight. A real superpower.
Smarter every day 2 is for the REAL nerds
Incredible!
Wow! Imagine how fast that song is in real time.
that's beautiful stuff right there
Beautiful.
Even your skin hair didn't move in those 213 ms. :) it's beautiful video, but I was waiting for your hand to shake tiny bit. Can you do a video about how people hands are shaking? If there is a any significant pattern in it? But then you will have to cover different ages too, or diseases, like Parkinson's disease, where hands (or body) can shake non stop over the time.
That would make a great music video for a song. Slowed down to half the speed and timed so that the bird's feet leave your hand at the climax of the song.
All of that happens in 0.2 of a second. By the time you read this comment, the bird is gone. Amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Thats great! Now how about slowing Abby the Spoon Lady down for us?
amazing!
Fantastic video! I'm a game designer, and I'm using this video to send to my 3D Animator to get more realistic dragon wing flapping animations! Cheers!
It’s almost like it’s swimming in the air!
Beautiful
Idk why.. but i guess this footage willbe everywhere from.now on..
Spectacular
Awesome!
Wow 👍🕊
