What an amazing, astonishing film. So, before I depart Earth, I want to fly with the birds. I thought I was the only one who wanted to cry. Beautiful and pure, just beautiful and pure.
Oh My…..what a magnificent film. How privileged are we to have these beautiful birds allow you to fly with them! Wow. Thank you SO much. I wish my mother could witness this as she gave me her Love of birds.
For those of you concerned about the birds...Christian Moullec, from France, rescues and hand raises orphan birds. He then teaches them to follow his micro-light so they can learn safe migratory routes and go back to nature. His is foremost a conservationist and taking some tourists onboard would help finance his efforts I imagine. No abuse there, just knowledge and dedication. The canadian Bill Lishman pioneered flying with birds in this manner and the film “Fly Away Home” was inspired by his work.
It made me cry and to remember my dad who I lost when I was only 8. He loved birds and was into amateur photography in 1980s when it was a fortune in Hungary. He was a great role model for me to fall in love with nature and appreciate its ultimate beauty. Thank you for reminding me. Beautiful! I lost words.

As an aeronautical engineer who has researched flow near propellers, I find the part of this video where the bird is gliding near to the pilot, and allowing him to touch his/her body to be absolutely fantastic. This is because the bird is taking advantage of the air-flow ahead of the propeller. This air-flow is being accelerated ahead of the propeller (to a speed above the general airspeed) and by it, but somehow the bird which has stopped flapping its wings and is taking advantage of the faster air-flows here. I would imagine that the opposite should be the case, because the greater speed airflow creates more aerodynamic drag, not less. Ain't nature wonderful!!
The bird is being drafted by the plane. it is in its slip stream and the upward lift in the front is pushing the bird ahead of the plane and causing an acceleration in speed. If it got too ahead of the plane, this would stop. If it got too far below the front of the plan, more towards wheels, it would be pushed underneath. Hope this helps.
That only would make sense if they are been raised by them. This has been pointed in other post. But there are several groups of very different birds. Some of them seem unlikely to be domesticated, for example the ones from the start.

it's crazy to think how much bigger a bird sees the world compared to us. when they land they're just birds on the ground but in the air they see so much more than an average human ever could or would in a lifetime.

It is funny and wonderful to see how the doves play there, in the air ! It is unbelieveable, what a fun they are having. Always when I see them I am extremely happy and at the same time I could cry because of emotion ... Often I laugh because it is TOO FUNNY and too nice to see this ... When I hear some people saying, doves are "the rats of the air" and other stupid things I think, such people are jealous because they are not able to have such fun or they are really, really dumb ...
Defo not what the powers that be would want us experiencing, even at second hand level, doubt they even enviviosioned this possible. This is what the life has on offer for us if we fight the powers that be and beat them. They are trained to follow him, he asks the people that ride-along to touch them. That is part of the experience. I've seen him fly at airshows and he is a great guy and treats the animals well. So don't just judge like this.

Los humanos nos es más dificil hacer lo mismo, nos cuesta mostranos felices en "bandada" viviendo en sociedad. Las aves me hacen muy pequeño, hasta el punto que emocione y casi me salen lagrimas de envidiosa felicidad al contemplarlas.

No es el hecho d estar en bandada o no, sino CÓMO lo estamos. Es decir, estamos y solemos hacerlo muy mal, pues la inmensa mayoría vive la vida desde el deseo d estar por encima d la mayoría o por lo menos d unos cuantos.
