When chemical weapons are going off all around you youre supposed to take a second to unwrap the filters, unscrew the cap, screw the filter into the mask, and then worry about making sure the mask is fitted to your face? The filter might store a lot longer but it seems more realistic to keep at least one filter attached to the mask at all times, even if its not good for the filter... Right? Its like not keeping a round in the chamber until you need it... Doesnt quite make sense
You are not actively at risk of being assaulted with chemical weapons at all times, Are you? If you ever come under such a threat, by all means, set up your mask for quick deployment. But this video was about how to store the mask when it is not needed (99% of the time) and how to make it last as long as possible when not in use (99% of the time) so that when you are going to use it, it will be functional.
Fyi, those ww2 masks you can buy have absestos in the filters. Ww3 coming up, i just care about my fellow americans. Theres a lot of those tan masks out there. Stay safe. Buy contemporary filters.

Its different between law enforcement and military. Police decides when to deploy CS gas, soldiers need to be ready for gas attack at all times

In law enforcement you have time to setup your mask, because the only “threat” you face with it is your OWN CS gas that your guys deploy.

Probably wanna highlight if youve got a beard, youre fucked because the mask wont seal.
If you are smarter than the mask it will seal just fine. Alittle thick grease, like vaseline, will seal it just fine.
