  • The clip was directed and edited by Travis Miller and shot all over Los Angeles, from Downtown LA to Dockweiler State Beach near the band’s hometown in El Segundo, CA.
The video tells the story of a man haunted by remembrances of things past. A found letter propels him on a bleary eyed, midnight adventure around the city of LA, searching for something he can’t quite name.
Josh Linden, the band’s lead singer and mandolin player, explains:
“With this video, we tried to touch on the major themes from the album - loss, memory, and searching to find a place in this world. Much of your life can be spent in the dark, trying to find a light at the end of the tunnel. If you look long enough, there always comes some point of redemption. That’s what we tried to communicate with the video for this song.”
The video comes hot on the heels of the release of Mourners, the band’s third full length for label Hardline Entertainment. The twelve tracks on this new record are brought to life by soulful melodies, driving punk rhythms, and a heavy dose of twang. Country influences - mandolin, acoustic guitar, lapsteel, and spanky telecaster lines - abound.
In celebration of their album release, Hoist the Colors has been added to 3 dates with the Dropkick Murphys for the west coast leg of their 20th anniversary tour. Tour dates are as follows:
9/29 - Tempe, AZ at the Marquee w/ Dropkick Murphys
9/30 - Los Angeles, CA at the Hollywood Palladium w/ Dropkick Murphys
10/1 - Chico, CA at the Senator Theatre w/ Dropkick Murphys
    About Hoist the Colors-
Hoist the Colors is a five-piece folk-influenced punk band from Los Angeles, CA. The band first gained notoriety with their 2012 label debut Miles To Go Before We Sleep, a record that earned recognition from both punk and alt-country taste-makers, and the admiration of underground music fans across the U.S. Hoist was named an artist to watch by Alternative Press magazine later that year. Their latest effort finds the band expanding on their trademark mix of folk traditions and punk energy, exploring new sounds and focusing on songcraft. For fans of The Pogues, Bad Religion, Dropkick Murphys, Lucero, and Chuck Ragan. More info at www.hoistthecolors.com and www.hardlineent.com.
