The most extraordinary aspect of this movie, something we realise only after the ending is that, every single thing that George Kutty does, even if it initially seemed so disconnected from the original problem, right from the start of the movie, is all for safeguarding his family. And Mohanlal's acting. Just super. Towards the end, when the family realises certain things, the concerned look he gives to Meena and then the momentary glance at his daughters, where in addition to the concern, there is a flash of sorrow and back to the original expression to Meena is just wow.

Kamal is at the .01% of actors who ever lived, he then can write screenplay, direct, sing, dance, a true sagalakala vallavan. Anbe Sivam Virumandi Guna Micheal Madana Kamarajan Sappani in 16 vayathinile Tamil audience like acting and there is no such thing as natural acting, its called performance it originated from stage, no wonder you don't know what acting or performance really is. Malayali's like natural ones? there is nothing natural about a movie or an artist performance, its how they convince the audience o their role and if Malayali's like natural ones then you don't know acting and performance. Marlon Brando once quoted Sivaji Ganesan as the greatest actor he has seen, so yeah what fellow actors consider as the best keep changing and don't mean shit. I think he missed something in the film. If he had watched the film carefully he wouldn't have commented that mohanlal become rich immediately like other Tamil films. Here director clearly says how he gets money to buy a theater. He gets money by selling his property and and the property he gets from his in laws he also talk about loan. So he didn't become rich overnight like in other films

Still some reviews say first 30 to 40 minutes slow. Only Maran reviewed how important that 40 minutes happenings.. in the end of the day Indian director proved their talents. You want to see real acting watch Daniel Day-Lewis in almost all his movies and Kamal Hassan's portrayal as the mayor in Indrudu Chandrudu.

My statement about Mohan Lal stands, he is a average to below average actor and 99% of the time his expressions, emotions , tone and appearance (not talking about make up here) is the same, the movie you mentioned is a great example of his below average acting except when his hiding behind the Kathakali makeup, a 1 min clip of Kamal dancing barathanatiyam is at a higher standard this Lal's performance in this whole movie.
Kamal is at the .01% of actors who ever lived, he then can write screenplay, direct, sing, dance, a true sagalakala vallavan.

Unfortunately hardcore Kamalians will never understand and will use Kubrick, Daniel Day Lewis etc etc to cover Kamal Haasan and make him look great. Btw....Kamal Haasan is a trained dancer....Mohanlal is not...and Acting is make belief not doing things real....If Mohanlal can convince sensible audience as an auto driver or a Kathakali artist or a dancer or psycho....That's acting. That's what actor requires. That doesn't mean trained actors have no role. But thats method acting....Most Hollywood actors and some actors like Mammotty and of course your Kamal Haasan does that.
Mohanlal doesn't need to do that to convince the audience while portraying a character. Just like he doesn't need to wail out loud to express a tragedy...a mild silent cry with tears in Bharatham is brilliant enough to portray the moment and the scene.
As I already said, Kamalians won't understand....After alll Cinema = Kamal Haasan for them..and some exceptions use Hollywood biggies just to support the Kamalian effect.

I think he missed something in the film. If he had watched the film carefully he wouldn't have commented that mohanlal become rich immediately like other Tamil films. Here director clearly says how he gets money to buy a theater. He gets money by selling his property and and the property he gets from his in laws he also talk about loan. So he didn't become rich overnight like in other films

Still some reviews say first 30 to 40 minutes slow. Only Maran reviewed how important that 40 minutes happenings.. in the end of the day Indian director proved their talents.
