I had never thought about Dragon Quarter in this conversation though I always thought of two sets: one that's more of an HD ports of 3 & 4 and another that's more like a remake or one of HD2D for the first 2 games. From what I hear, I played these games as a child/young teen so I don't remember those details, they also would need some retranslation.@@johnmotsinger4542
I'm really sad that I won't have my old lovely hardcover guides for Lunar 1 and 2. I don't always use guides, but those books absolutely enhanced my experiences with those games.
That should be in the game bonus section. Like Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection did with the promotial material.
I would love to see an Illusion of Gaia remake. I know it isn't a JRPG in the purest sense of the word, but it's a great game that never really got the recognition it deserved.

I think that the Quintet trilogy, Mega Man Legends (including the stuff the US missed) and Mother trilogy, though not my personal favorites, would be HUGE!

It feels like there's some drama & maybe even division in the wider gaming community, but that never happens in the jrpg fandom. Maybe this resurgence of jrpg's can spread out & have a good influence on the rest of gaming culture. Thank you for always being a part of keeping this genre alive.

Never played any of it because emulating Saturn was always so conplicated (though I hear it's gotten better) and I didn't own a Saturn back then
Agreed, them bringing it to a modern audience is awesome to see from all companies. Also, I see it getting back to the old-school art style and making the 2.5 style appreciated and companies see that. With that companies could continue series like Suikoden or others. It also shows we don't need all these glamorous and high-end graphic JRPGS. Worldbuilding is more fun and detailed under that style. Normal modern JRPGs, sometimes feel dull/boring in many ways or just out of place. but that is my opinion. Lastly, I feel they can more focus on story building under the old school build.
I completely agree, companies should take great inspiration from this new movement! And they could definitely focus on the story and vibe!
That would be awesome, I want them all on PC so I can play them again like the golden years.
A remastered Shining Force or Phantasy Star collection needs to happen
Yes! One of my first thoughts when I think of all these remakes, remasters, etc is to Shining Force. My brother is really a JRPGer but he's an absolute fan of those games (as am I)
As someone who's never played the Suikoden or Lunar games, I'm stoked! Also excited to see Fantasian being brought out of it's Apple Arcade prison, that's a day 1 buy for me. On the subject of Mistwalker games too, it would be great to see The Last Story, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey come out to modern platforms as well since those are stuck on their respective consoles. Would also like to see a Xenogears remake, and actually give all the resources needed to make the second half of Xenogears fleshed out. Lastly, I want to see Legend of Dragoon become something more than just the one game that was, whether that be a remake, sequel, or prequel doesn't matter to me.
Really loved the Star Ocean second story remake. I'd love a port or remake of Til the End of Time. Legend of Dragoon would be nice to have again too.
That remake was my favorite JRPg of 2023! More folks should follow suit and remake their games like SO2R
Let's see... Breath of fire collection definitely, Arc the lad would be nice to see again, oh and also Skies of Arcadia and some past Tales of games that never got a english release. And realizing next year I really am going double header on the rpgs coming in 2025.... the Suikoden 1+2, Lunar 1+2, and also DQ 1+2 after the 3 HD2D remake
Not really JRPGs but besides ones you mentioned I would love to see Viewtiful Joe and Professor Layton collections
I'm most excited about Lunar 2 being remastered. We had Sega CD, PS1, GBA, and PSP versions of Lunar 1, but Lunar 2 has been left alone since the PS1 version.
Which JRPG collection needs to happen next? I would go with the Shadow Hearts games. And maybe the original .Hack (Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, and Quarantine) games.

I'm so hyped for the Suikoden Remaster, Konami.use the Time and now its looks pretty awesome! Even the Menues looking so much better then in the first Overlook.

I'm loving all these remasters and remakes! Super stoked for romancing Saga 2 so far.... And the lunar series gunna be goated. Hopefully they'll do breath of fire next... Maybe chrono trigger too! I wish we could see the attack animations in dq 3 so I'm gunna pass on that game unfortunately :/
Im so happy to see all these remasters and enhanced ports of classic jrpgs. Lunar and suikoden are very expensive to track down and with the quality of life improvements like combat speed up these games have some of their slower aspects improved. So cool to have them all on modern systems and physically to boot! (well....they usually are and I am confident Lunar will too at least on limited run if nothing else)I have never played a Lunar game. Could never find em. Will buy it day one for switch.
It would be awesome if the Jade Cocoon games got some sort of remaster.

Breath of Fire series. A Collection of classic BoF games would be insane, Capcom!
Tales of series (especially earlier ones like Phantasia, Destiny or Eternia). Bandai Namco is currently reviving the series, but I think they stick to the most popular for now)
Lufia 1+2 collection. A forgotten classic, no more words needed.
Terranigma + Illusion of Gaia. Also classics from the 90s, which probably were played by a lot of people back when they were kids.
Golden Sun 1-3 collection. I know the first two games can be played on NSO, but a remaster would be pretty neat.
I want a chrono trigger in the 2D HD remastered and then I wanna see earthbound in Zelda echoes of wisdom graphics
Xenogears, I wasn’t aware of this game when it came out, but I love Xenoblade and would love to see where it started
Suikoden 1 and 2 are 2 of my favorite rpgs of all time.
And to be honest, I'm a little concerned I'm gonna be disappointed with the remasters. So far, these remasters look like something they coulda done on ps2. While the core of the games themselves are amazing. I haven't been impressed by these upgrades.
Ff4 in 3d, now that's a remaster and that was done forever ago.

Shining Force remasters, Wild Arms, Breath of Fire, Phantasy Star, Popful Mail (never got to play)
Shining Force and Phantasy Star are my top 2 at this point
Three things:
1. The Shadow Hearts series. Among the best JRPGs of the PS2 era. Some real gay panic stuff in there though. Feel free to edit those parts out.
2. Valkyrie Profile 1 & 2. There is still nothing like them. Real shame about Valkyrie Elysium.
3. Vagrant Story. The best thing that Square has ever done even to this day. (And almost unplayable by modern standards because of its HORRIBLE and frequent loading.)
Bro, I was looking for someone whos posting Vagrant Story in the comments. This game means a lot to me and since I sold my PS1 I am not able re-play it. It has a great story and an incredible art style

Lunar and Suikoden are my dream JRPG games that I played back then. Now I'm having 3 new lunar sssc and 3 lunar eternal blue games, which I did not open. This is how much I love the game. The original box is the one playing, which is already opened when I bought it back then. So a total of 4 each!! Suikoden having the same case as Lunar. 2 new PS1 just to play them and enjoy. And guess what.... can't wait for the release of the two games 😍 Grandia 1 is nice to see it remastered again with better graphics.

I'm all for JRPG Remakes and Remasters and Collections! Gotta have both the accessibility and preservation and new experiences for those who missed out on them!
I'd would love to have a Breath of Fire collection by Capcom (plz), and maybe if Bamco be wise and do a Xenosaga Remastered collection.
Xenosaga HD trilogy please!!! After that, Breath of Fire and Shining Force would be next for me. Many others too, but those are my top 3.

Xenogears. Give me voice acting, reorchestrated music, a less frustrating Tower section and keep it far away from ONLY the Switch and I'd be very happy. I don't even care if the second disk remains a visual novel. This game deserves a resurgence already. For that matter, the same thing with Xenosaga, literally my favorite JRPG story out there. Yes, I even a bit more than Xenogears. I'm still salty that the Xenoblade series is stuck on the switch. It's literally the only series I'd buy one for, now that so many exclusives aren't exclusive anymore.
I hope jrpgs studios do modern takes on classic era jrpgs. Be it remakes or sequels or new rpgs but with hd2d or ps1 framework but with today's anime graphics like trails, tales of, ni no kuni...

I honestly think that Breath of Fire is coming, whether they remaster all the games or just part of them. Also got a good feeling on Wild ARMS.
I would also like them to do something with Shining Force, the rts series. Those games have been left in shadows and dust compared to the Fire Emblem which is somewhat similar, but I like Shining Force better.
However DUE to the Warrior/Gadabout (Jester class) female being censored in DQ3's upcoming remake will the 2 Lunar remakes also be censored after all Lucia appears naked in at least 3 Lunar animated sequences including the OPENING of the game for Eternal Blue and the FIRST Lunar game has a FEMALE Hot spots area to visit though going their is optional.
I have a huge backlog of JRPGs (P3R, Star Ocean Remake etc.) & I just got myself a 3DS XL... too many JRPGs too little time!
I hope lunar and suikoden 2 get proper remakes later

Say what you want, but Working Design's translation made Lunar famous. I heard they god rid of it in this new collection, and since I couldn't force myself to finish the PSP version it is very likely I'll skip this one.
I wish theyd leave the difficulty alone and make the "qol" stuff like auto saves optional..

Wish Atlus would localize the og Devil Summoner or port the PS1 versions of the SMT SNES trilogy. Its also strange that Chrono Trigger isn't on consoles, yet it's direct sequel is.....
Lunar remaster? More like a PS1 game ported to PS4-PS5... pathetic. And they do not release it on Switch (a handheld)... really doesn't make sense.

As a diehard OG Lunar fan, we've all been waiting for Lunar 3 for 30 years now after it was teased in the Lunar 2 Eternal Blue Sega CD manual and several times after in interviews by Working Designs head Vic Ireland. Game Arts/Studio Alex were the creators but Vic at WD was the talking head or face of Lunar in its heyday. If we didn't get that then at least the superior Sega CD OG Lunars should of got a Remaster, the meh kiddie, less mature Playstation Complete Remasters have already been Remastered a few times.
However I'll take Lunar anything at this point, hopefully this is the jumping point for the Lunar Series and us long term OG Lunar fans finally getting what we have wanted for 3 decades now. Lunar 3
