Because those ratings are not independently veryfied they don't mean anything. What actually matters in terms of insulation is the total down volume which is calculated by mutiplying the fillpower of the down contained with the total amount of down contained (total down weight). And if you look at the price of down, the down in a Moncler jacket alone is worth more than 3 times as much as the total cost of your jacket. Therefore it is mathematically impossible that your jacket is even remotely close to the insulation power of a Moncler or Canada Goose jacket.
Greetings from Finland; great video as always, thanks! I recently bought a black TEI4 rated Canada Goose jacket and have been loving it. I wear it over my suit and it looks good, unlike a Moncler which is way more casual. Today it was -20c during the day and it kept me warm; way better than my old North Face Summit series jacket.
Richard Harris Did you not watch the video? A cheap zip, stiff and filled with duck down rather than goose. And I was talking about luxury brands in general.
I tried this jacket on in a Scheels and I was impressed. Though I've never bought even a 200$ jacket, so my being impressed may be someone else's meh. But I found the chest pockets to be cozy and I liked the materials all around the jacket. Plus it fit me like a glove. A few weeks and I'm going to get it. Thank you for the review Gent

Gentleman's Gazette First of all, thank you for replying. I see your point and I will definitely support your channel as it’s so helpful for people (like myself) who love dressing up. Thank you
Gentleman's gazette is more niche, without diversifying their content more they aren't going to get as big as the other two. Alpha M targets the largest net. RMRS is somewhere in the middle.

I own a Canada goose jacket and actually live in province in Canada where it's ridiculously cold. It's definitely warm when it's -30 °C outside, but there are cheaper jackets that are just as warm for sure. I find that my $150 boxing day special Tommy Hilfiger down jacket is pretty well just as warm, and for a fraction of the cost. And the zipper does such for sure!!!!!
Bought my Canada goose a couple of years ago and I still like it a lot. Thought I was smart and ordered it online but it was taken by costums so had to pay way more than 1000dollars 😒 still the best winterjacket I have had
If you in am extreme cold environment that statement is likely false if you not though the Canada goose is overkill and you can find better suited ones for cheaper for sure

I own 2, one Expedition, and one Snow Mantra. I live in Minnesota, and there is no other coat I would wear if the temperature is going to go below -20 F or more. The Snow Mantra is bulky but if you have to plow snow you are not worrying too much about your image. People worried about their good looks are not going to venture out much when the temperature will freeze your skin in mere minutes. All of that said, I never experienced a problem with my zipper on either coat. In fact the only problem I had with either, was the placement of a velcro tab on the storm flap on the Snow Mantra. It rubs the nylon cuff while fastening the zipper, and eventually it pulls loops off thread out of the cuff. Canada Goose did replace the cuffs free of charge, but the same is starting to happen again. If I again return the coat I will recommend moving the velcro tabs where this is not an issue.
That's four thousand pounds spent on two coats that wear out after a few years of use out in the freezing cold. What are you going to do when you need another warm coat, and there are no better alternatives? You can buy an old goose down coat for sixty-five pounds which will last longer and will stand up to rough use. When I say old, I mean very old. Old and hardly used. New stuff just doesn't cut the mustard.
@@stuartbritton4811 4000 pounds? I don't know what the conversion rate is these days but I don't think I spent nearly that much on 3 parkas, and yes. I bought another one since then, another Snow Manta, vintage Snow Goose for about $800 usd. The Expedition was $950, and the other snow Mantra was about $600. I'll let you do the math on what that converts to pounds. I have bought a couple of jackets from Noize at about $90 each and have worn one of them. It will keep your coffee core warm below 0F but your face will freeze unless you wear a mask. It wasn't long after I wrote this originally that I got a new personal record, -37F. I plowed snow. Unprotected skin will freeze instantly. 90 pounds won't cut it.
Just two weeks ago I bought Canada Goose Jacket. I am not rich person by any means I am student at the moment, but for years I’ve been wanted good quality winter jacket. I looked around to spent up to 300 or 400£ for good jacket I still couldn’t find anything that would keep me warm and look stylish at the same time. I bought cheap one three years ago just to wear it in cold days so I don’t freeze but never really got the job done. When I bought the Canada Goose I thought I’m gonna regret spending 895£ for a bloody jacket is way to expansive, (we spent over 1000£ for iPhones every 2 years), but let me tell you after wearing those days which has been cold here in London I absolutely did not regret it one bit. I had to work some extra hours to pay for it but is worth it, is not something that you buy every year or even every two years. I have lifetime warranty for it if any manufacturing defect come up and they will fix it for free, it keep you so warm but it doesn’t make you sweat, it’s water proof and I will keep it for good few years. If you have the money buy it you not gonna regret it. So looking forward to the winter this year and staying warm. Each one for themselves, in the end of the day we spending our own money, I like products that is worth paying for, even if you pay 2-3 or 4 times more than you expected sometimes.
+ 100 points for Sven still doing videos. I don't mind the new guy at all and still enjoy the videos. But I've become quite fond of Sven over the years.
I live in an amazingly cold Canadian province, and I bought my Canada Goose jacket back in the mid-2000s, when it was a little less expensive. My jacket is far more simple, sleek, and stylish than the style in this video. As others have mentioned in the comments, the zipper also functions really well as long as you keep the line relatively straight. I bought CG jackets for my parents a few years ago. My mother never struggles with the zipper. My dad struggles immensely, but he also makes the same mistake as done in this video, where he tries to curl the bottom end up, towards him. Personally, I still consider this to be one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. The only other items that even come close are my Canada Goose gloves and my navy Thom Browne seafarer jacket.
I live in Southern Manitoba where it actually gets to -30c , it has never got to -40c in Ottawa. I bought my down parka at Mountain Equipment Coop. I just spent 2 hours blowing snow, I'm not too worried about which jacket is more fashionable. I have a thinsulate lined leather jacket for when I need to be fashionable. When it comes to frostbite, function is more important than fashion.
Ya but no one gets that. If it’s -5C and some snow they call in the army. I’ve seen people with a regular jacket and short standing at the bus stop at -25. How’s that bow flex workin out?
My CG bomber is 9 years old and was starting to look a little shabby and the fur was toast, so I sent it in to them and they restored it to basically new for a $47 cleaning fee which I had asked for. Lol, so the lifetime warranty is super comprehensive, no joke... all I wanted was new fur and to get as many of the stains out as possible. They replaced the fasteners, the buttons and zippers (which are metal), the cuffs, the tags, the little hangers off the zipperheads, and removed all the stains... here’s some free advertising for Canada Goose 🇨🇦.
I bought a black Chilliwack bomber late January here in Chicago when the temps were in a record low -17°F with windchills between -35° and -45°F ... I went over by the lakefront to put the coat to the test. All I had underneath was a t-shirt. I was warm the whole time. Price I paid for it was $910. It is a lot but I think it was worth it.
Bought Canada Goose's Chateau parka when I moved to Chicago and was especially thankful for my parka when we had a week-long stretch of temps in the single digits, not including windchill. Canada Goose is certainly expensive, but it's an investment that will last you years provide you treat it well.
FYI...coyotes are hunted by the Canadian government because they are a nuisance to livestock...they breed uncontrollably and have no natural predator in the ecosystem to control their populations....so regardless if companies like Canada Goose use coyote furs in their jackets it would not affect the hunting of coyotes.
Wow lucky that humans exist. What would nature do without us?? This continent must have been a mess before humans showed up, just coyotes breeding uncontrollably. What a great reason to wear a dead dog.
I have a CG expedition parka purchased in 1980 and still going strong but cost today is ~ Can. $1500 and works well at -35C but I also have a Russian Bekesha sheepskin purchased fo Can $ 170 and works well at -35 C which one is better you tell me, in final analysis depends on your income.
My CG zipper is perfect, so easy to use. None of my family ever have problems with any zippers. We all love our CG because it’s so warm, so worth it. I always wear only a shirt inside the jacket during the winter and it keeps me warm.
That’s actually a nice looking coat. Many times better looking than the Monclair. I have a navy parka made my Canali that is more elegant and better quality. I have no regrets about that purchase. Though I had to get rid of the fur. I don’t like that at all. I’ll consider reattaching if I ever make a trip to the north pole or Antarctica. I would say it’s a fairly stylish coat for the colder days. There’s a time and a place for an overcoat. It’s more suited to smart dress. Most style conscious people, most of the time, are going to be dressed more casually. A coat of this style, especially in winter, is perfectly appropriate.
@@cammid2110 Moose knuckle is probably similar quality to goose, plus they had that scandal where they said their stuff was made in Canada, but most of the production was done overseas.

Fine review. The problem with bulky, well insulated jackets in the city is that when you go inside to go shopping, say, you’ll be taking it off and lugging it around. With a pricey one, you’ve got to be carful about theft. I’d rather layer, in a manner appropriate to the day’s weather.
Greetings from Minneapolis... To Minneapolis! (The street signs were the tip-off!) Thanks for being clear about this brand . As a native Minnesotan, I was skeptical about these coats, as they've been popping up everywhere -- but they're so incredibly expensive. And up here, form must follow function, especially with the weather we've been having lately.
fill power of 625 fill power duck down for $1000....LOL Even my Karrimor Sub Zero down jacket has 90/10 Goose down 800 fill power, which was £50 in a sale a couple of years ago. I use it to zip into a £80 Laksen Mouflon Jacket.
Living in quebec / canada right now is minus 30 degrees celsius. Canada goose is the best invesment I have done. And Im the type of woman who gets cold in the summer....
You can’t critique the jackets for having plastic zippers because they are made for cold weather. Metal zippers freeze up really easily and are harder to use when cold in general
I am based in England and also have a disability of the spine which means I feel the cold really badly. A friend recommended this brand to me and sent me a discount site link so I paid much less for mine than retail (yes it’s legit I bought out of season). Mine has literally kept me comfortable in some very cold days and harsh frosts. I have the longer parka and I wouldn’t have paid full price for it simply because I can’t justify spending the regular $900 price tag. Although I am so happy I got it because it is so warm and comfortable.
Arc'teryx Cerium LT - 850-fill grey goose down, much less expensive, much lighter, and has awesome zippers - layer under a shell jacket in those rare conditions where it's both wet and below freezing enough to justify wearing these types of coats. The Thorium AR is a bit warmer with bigger pockets but quite a bit heaver (but still about one fourth the weight of the Canada Goose).
I owned the Cerium. The problem with this jacket is it’s paper thin and rips easily. I had down leaking out of my jacket after wearing it only for a few days. It’s not durable. I returned it.
@@Bankrollprimo Granted if what you're doing is going to have it rubbing against rough surfaces or you're going bushwhacking with it on you probably want something thicker for an outer surface. If you are serious about surviving outdoors in the winter, real winter, a down coat with a real fur trimmed snorkel hood is a must. That way you can cross-country ski at 54 below (no wind chill factor) without feeling the cold. Been there, done that.
I have had a Canada Goose Parka for about 7 years. I live in Pennsylvania but my inlaws are Canadian and my mother in law gave me the coat. It is overkill 90% of the time in the Northern U.S. Unless you are in Wisconsin, New England or north the coat is actually too warm for most conditions and I tend to sweat in it if I am doing outdoor activity. However, when it is around Zero Fahrenheit it comes into it's own. From there and colder it is unbeatable and I can spend as much time outside as need to. I have been in temps of 35 below zero and that is where it is really meant to live.
When you first step outside with a parka on you can still feel the cold, however when you start moving than you will quickly warm up and stay warm. More feathers could be too warm.
don't think its your cup of tea, you look a lot more relaxed in you overcoat video.. with a bit of thrift shopping i think i could buy 10 overcoats for the price of the CG

My Canada Goose kept me warm this week in Ontario when it was -35. Best jacket I have ever owned for cold weather
-35 c or f?
Which cg jacket you own?
I have two Canada Goose jackets and I love them! Worth every penny!
I got my -50 rated parka at army surplus for $50.
Maybe you can attach a nicely designed round patch that reads, "I saved $1,000"?
I bet it looks swill.
@Sirthom: you're spot on. No need to line the pockets of fashion designers. If it was good enough for the army it's usually good enough for civvy street.
i have an used artic parka, the price was 80 bucks and its was enough for austria and central Hungary :)
Like many luxury brands you’re paying for the name.
True thats why military surplus is cheap and it's gets the job done
You’re not paying for the name with Canada Goose you’re paying for quality, do your research

I love this channel and I don’t understand how Alpha M and Real Men Real Style have over a million subscribers and Gentleman’s Gazette only nearly had 500,000. This channel is for men and gentlemen and I would say that the others are you boys. Apart from that, great video 👍
They started before we did and they attract a different audience. With your support, we get there too :)
Gentleman's Gazette First of all, thank you for replying. I see your point and I will definitely support your channel as it’s so helpful for people (like myself) who love dressing up. Thank you
They attract young audiences. This channel is not.
Sartorial talks, love both
Gentleman's gazette is more niche, without diversifying their content more they aren't going to get as big as the other two. Alpha M targets the largest net. RMRS is somewhere in the middle.
A Michelin Man in a garbage bag! I wonder when Raphael starts his new job with Moncler?
It's an accurate assessment! ;-)
I'm not sure, Raphael's review of Moncler was very fair, with undertones of 'not entirely worth it' if I remember correctly
i rather end up like Jack Nicholson in The Shining with the same expession than be seen in that ridiculous Moncler coat. i feel shame for the person unfortunate enough to wear one. the Canada Gose jacket isnt that bad. but it should be made from natural materials like wool.
I laughed out loud at that one. Perfect description!
I pick up Moncler one at the airport. One with clear look. The one in video is classic one. I won't recommended that one.
Thought I was smart and ordered it online but it was taken by costums so had to pay way more than 1000dollars 😒 still the best winterjacket I have had
where are you from? how cold does it get where you are
Canada goose can't HOLD UP TO CANADIAN WINTER ironically !!
Then try alternatives.
Good review, but what are the better jackets for half the price?
yes, he says ''there are better jackets for half the price'' but doesn't say what they are!
If you in am extreme cold environment that statement is likely false if you not though the Canada goose is overkill and you can find better suited ones for cheaper for sure

To be honest on a budget, you can do a lot worse than the North Face Mcmurdo or Arctic/expedition Parka.
I watched this, and I will never need a down jacket.....I live in South Texas....
:-) I live in Vienna. from time to time we do have cold weather, but the climate change pays it's dues and most of the time I don't need a very warm jacket PLUS I am female. and still I watched this one! (would rather buy a solid mountain gear instead of a jacket 'edited' for urban people. that way I can use it both ways. but again - really seldom it's really that cold)

Best jackets ever. I own two. I live in Toronto, worth every penny.
You won them, so you got them free and they were worth the money? Eh?
Jay fritz fixed the typo. Yes they are worth it. Thinking of a third one.
I’ve had mine for 7 years, and I would say it’s 1000% worth it. I wouldn’t hesitate buying. 100% worth the money
I go to a very high end gym and a good rule of thumb is that every brand that people there start wearing all of a sudden is not worth its price.
But CG been popping at least 10years now. Is your gym in 2011?
So any brand well off people wear isn’t worth it? You go there, i guess everything you wear counts too
I bought one of them, l real like the jacket , it keeps me warm especially with extreme cold.
Jacket is very well worth it! I love mine and I think if you live in a cold climate buy one good jacket instead of a new one every year...

While it was pricey, it is incredibly comfortable and warm. I'm glad I bought my CG.

Ethically sourced Coyotes after snapping their paws in half with traps.
Canada Goose stuffed with duck feathers. Lovely

Fine review. The problem with bulky, well insulated jackets in the city is that when you go inside to go shopping, say, you’ll be taking it off and lugging it around. With a pricey one, you’ve got to be carful about theft. I’d rather layer, in a manner appropriate to the day’s weather.
