    The WHEN and WHAT of snacking! Are you snacking, do you know when you are doing it? Often snacking is mindless and full of convenient unhealthy foods like pretzels, chips, and cookies. This week we have a few mini goals:
    1) When are you snacking?
    2) What are you snacking on?
    3) STOP! or choose fruit and vegetables for your snacks, a glass of water, or trade it all together for a walk or your favorite hobby.
    Snacking keeps insulin turned on; insulin is the anabolic hormone that helps us BUILD. If insulin is on, it send extra glucose to fat cells for storage. This is good! This is what it's supposed to do (it also builds bones and muscles), but insulin needs to be on and off throughout the day. If you snack all day you are constantly firing up insulin and telling your body to store away extra as fat.

      Yes thinking about when we are eating can impact put health and energy just as much as what we eat!

    I keep almonds, pistachios and walnuts in snack size portions on hand for a quick snack along with an iced herbal tea. It’s the perfect snack late afternoon for me.
