      Christ supports Nemo too. He literally hung there, for him. Yet nobody who Christ disciplines is in "good" company. But that's up to Nemo now. For every Korihor who stuck to his guns only to find he was deceived and then ended in a ruinous heap, there is an Alma the Younger or a Saul of Tarsus who turned their life around and served God instead of being a disturber of His kingdom. Let's hope Nemo has the best outcome where he and the Lord walk in lockstep. But in terms of who needs to change for that to happen, my guess it isn't the Lord.

      @NoteworthyAnalysis 4 месяца назад +3

      Oh, well, if you’re being objective (as one does), then yeah, Nemo totally crossed the line. In his LadBible interview, he tossed objectivity out the window and used every single question as a chance to take cheap shots at the church. He even claimed the garment reached up to his elbow-because, you know, nothing says “serious critique” like trying to make every member look like a total weirdo. But honestly, that wasn’t even the worst part. Every answer he gave was either flat-out wrong or hilariously one-sided. And then he has the nerve to still call himself a member? Please. The church had to step in, and frankly, it was the only sensible move.

He even brought it up *twice*, so don't try to let him off the hook. And it doesn't stop there. Nemo blatantly lied multiple times during the interview. His absurd claims about the church’s involvement in electroshock therapy or why they had to leave Kirtland are enough to make anyone question his so-called expertise. He completely disqualified himself and revealed his true, destructive intentions. But what’s the icing on this cringe-worthy cake? His supporters actually cheer him on! The blind leading the blind has never been more painfully obvious. If you have even a shred of self-awareness, you should have run for the hills after that interview.

    One of the most barbaric things about excommunication is that it happens to people who want to remain in the community, and it’s the community deciding to ostracize the excommunicated. For those of us who leave on our own, there is no discipline or even acknowledgment that we were even there once upon a time, but for those who want to remain, they establish a kangaroo court and let you know that you are not wanted all while telling you that they love you.
    In the big scheme of things, there probably isn’t an afterlife so it doesn’t really matter for the salvation of your soul, and it won’t matter to those in the Mormon community, or those on the high council that vote you off the island. The process is designed to hurt you and your family alone. It’s designed to make mothers cry, spouses feel ashamed, and put your children on an entirely different path outside of all the positive values the church claims to provide for families. So much for being a brother’s keeper.

I’ve been watching the series on racial equality with Matt Harris on Mormon Stories and one thing that’s struck me is as much as the leadership of the Church try to present this image that they are above influence of external and internal criticism, they are deeply affected by it. While leadership have ousted many in the struggle for things like racial equality or historical transparency, these people ultimately contribute to a driving force that causes the Church to be better. Nemo, I see you as someone asking your institution to hold itself to the standard of integrity it holds its membership. Unfortunately the Church may excommunicate you, and yet I think it will become better as it is forced to reckon with its own lapses in integrity.

      Nah, he's been attempting to deceive people into leaving the church while saying he's still a member. When somebody does something like that at a government level, the punishment is capital punishment, it is considered treason.
      I understand he believed the church was false and that we are all deceived sheep, but that is his point of view (which you likely share), not the point of view of many informed members that still are members and do believe and don't go around finding ways to make other members ditch their faith by finding ways to slander the faith he supposedly belongs to.
      He should have given up his membership status ages ago and only kept it to see how long it would take for this to happen, only to play the victim when it inevitably did. The church was exaggeratedly patient in this matter. I've seen people excommunicated for much less.

    My heart goes out to you, Nemo. I've been watching much of your content since the beginning. I am a multi-generational member in the US, in later life. I quietly stopped participating ten years ago or so having done all the things--mission, temple marriage, kids, and many years of full participation. I have not had to wrestle with the removal of my name from the rolls so far. But it's something that, as grave as it may feel (it does feel grave to me, even now), is out of our hands. You have consistently met your burden of truth and fairness, of giving the benefit of the doubt, of reserving judgement, of not impugning the motives or character of your leaders, and only assuming the best intentions on their behalf. You have clearly sought the truth, regardless of outcome. I suspect all of that has rightly delayed the onset of disciplinary action. But I have to say I thought it inevitable from the start, as I expect many others did, too.
    Many people feel like they have sought the truth. But if one rises high enough in the church--Stake Pres/Miss Pres level--one's loyalty to the chain of command will be tested against the principles taught in the beatitudes and commandments, and any effort to suss out truth. That loyalty (fealty, really) is the gate through which all high leaders must pass to continue to rise, to be "chosen" rather than just "called." It is not integrity or adherence to Jesus' word that makes them "worthy" although those ideas hold secondary importance--and I still believe there are many outstanding individuals in stake and even global leadership callings who "know" but find ways to make peace with knowing differently than those like me who exit. But sadly I think the outcome of these more visible "courts of love" is often used as this loyalty test--again, loyalty to the Brethren, not to Jesus or his teachings. These leaders are under tremendous pressure and face a very real risk of shame, losing social status and even personal identity in these roles, should they step out of line. But they are agents, and must choose and be accountable just like you and me. Jimi Hendrix wrote, “I'm the one that's got to die when it's time for me to die, so let me live my life the way I want to.” I would change "the way I want to." to "according to my conscience." or some such. But you get the gist. If God is real, if Mormonism is even in the neighborhood of the truth, I believe he will judge us on our faithfulness to correct principles, not our loyalty to men, no matter what status they hold in the church. And we can bet that those guys will be scarce when our time comes. So keep moving forward no matter their puny efforts to stop you and tear you down. Wishing you peace with whatever the outcome may be.

      This channel is a collection of priestcraft and rebellion. Maybe start the list there. If Nemo is unhappy with how Christ runs His church, through servants He has chosen, then Christ is giving him an opportunity to hear a call for repentance from one of his angels, as was given to Laman, Lemuel, Alma the Younger, Saul, king Noah, Zeezrom, Sherem, Korihor, Nehor and others. The angel is his stake president, but the one who sent the angel is Christ. Call it an act of mercy, call it a wake-up call, what it now becomes depends on whether Nemo wants to keep feeding the mob, or wake up to his own awful state and turn back to the Lord. Not the church. Not the leaders. Jesus Christ. You can't attack church policy without attacking the leaders. You can't attack those called to serve by revelation without attacking Christ who extended those callings. You can't attack Christ without attacking the Father who sent Him. So in this test of fidelity, Nemo is found wanting, and no doubt this formal action is not the first time he has been spoken to. God is longsuffering and patient, but ultimately He won't be mocked by one who has received so many blessings and made sacred covenants with Him, which he is now blatantly acting out against. Nemo has been saying for ages how wrong he thinks this and that is. So let nobody be surprised that the King of the kingdom could show him door. In his heart of hearts, Nemo knows the reasons all too well.

Church disciplinary councils make a mockery of anything resembling a fair judicial process. Secret, not public, trials by ambush. There is no due process where the church engages in trial by ambush. Best of luck Nemo!

      Trump's team was provided with TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-FIVE _THOUSAND_ documents -- the majority of which were initially supplied by Trump himself, and were therefore in his possession before proceedings even began. And that's to say nothing of the fact that all defendants knew all the charges against them as of Sept. 21, 2022 -- more than a YEAR before the summary judgement was issued.
      To add injury to insult, it was actually TRUMP HIMSELF who failed to turn over communications in accordance with the discovery process (see: April 25th letter from OAG to Engoron). Trump even had to pay a $110k fine for failing to comply with a subpoena. But pErSeCuTiOn, ammirite?!

Now Nemo has reached a point where the Lord wants to save him from himself and from the bray of the mob he's built around himself, which only eggs him on, further away from Christ. There are plenty of people in ward and stake and even Area callings who are asses. But the First Presidency and the Twelve are not among them. And neither is Christ, who has sanctioned this step. No doubt the mob will want their pound of flesh, their cup of blood, and demand Nemo share every detail of what should be a very private and soul-searching 'time out'. I doubt anyone can reach the clarity they need to see, or the stillness they need to heal, with such a din. I hope Nemo takes it seriously, and not as a tabloid opportunity. I've participated in multiple disciplinary councils. In ZERO cases were the outcomes in favour of the accused. The determination of the council was ALWAYS an inevitable and foregone conclusion. This is not a trial! There is no due process. Laws of evidence and assumptions of innocence are not factors. It's a sentencing hearing! I've also sat in many of those councils where now a substantial number of the council are themselves disaffected from the church. I've never witnessed such bored and awkward groups of 16 men before or since. It's a complete waste of everyone's time. I hope they all have to give up something important to attend.

    My testimony was weakened most by President Nelson's comments regarding the Arizona child abuse case. When He celebrated the Church getting away with not reporting heinous sexual child abuse I lost all respect for President Nelson, and all belief that He could be called as God's current prophet. In contrast, Nemo's faithful efforts to remain within the Church despite his own faith crisis and concerns with various issues in the Church has helped me to not leave in my own faith crisis. Perhaps the Church's actions to excommunicate Nemo just shows me the Church has no room for me either. I had actually written a letter of resignation, but didn't send it after I discovered Nemo's channel. Watching Nemo and seeing how he remained in the Church encouraged me to try to remain as well. Being very familiar with the criminal justice system in the US, I can confidently extrapolate that this meeting is just a formality. It is quite clear all decisions have already been set, and this “trial” is just going through the motions and collecting information from your responses. It is clear that nothing you do at this point could affect the outcome. This is not justice, or even an inquiry. This is a condemnation and summary judgement by man.

    Your pain touches me tenderly because of the value you place on church membership. The Church has been my extended family for 80 years, and I recognize the bonding. The work of John Dehlin has helped me understand that as my eyes open and my beliefs change, I do not have to lose that bond. (I let sleeping dogs lie = not rock the boat.) I have told my ward that I am here because this is where we help each other. That goes on regardless of belief. We cannot correct the Church, but we can show people how to trust themselves even when they are told lies. In the end, your testimony of YOURSELF is determinative. The Church has no power over that. The Church can suppress your privileges in mortality, but it can never corrupt your INDEPENDENT ETERNAL identity.
