Memory Pit is the exploit used to launch Twilight Menu++ from the Camera app
Twilight Menu++ is a file manager and launcher used to launch DSiWare apps, DS games, and homebrew apps like dumptool and Unlaunch Installer.
Dumptool is used for dumping the internal NAND which is mandatory for HiyaCFW installation as the internal NAND is in extremely poor quality compared to SD Cards and can break very easily especially if files are constantly written to them.
Unlaunch is a bootloader replacement and allows booting any CFW from the SD card, which also increases reliability on the system.
HiyaCFW and Lazy DSi downloader are Optional.
UPDATE: The tutorial for HiyaCFW is no longer available at dsi.cfw.guide. It has now moved to wiki.ds-homebr....

Just one question: if I want to play out-of-region DSiWare games, is it mandatory to install Unlaunch? Or TwilightMenu++ is enough for it?
Unlaunch isn’t necessary for out of region dsiware apps in twilight menu++.

Thank you for the video, I will just install Twilight since there is no need for me to change the region. I bought 2 Japanese DSis, and I would definitely rather have English on it since I can't read the Japanese letters.

honestly man I need that too, since region changing your 2ds LL locks the online feature and u cant update any current games or play online

I like booting to Twilight++ for convenience but the interface is pretty ugly. Is hiyaCFW the best looking UI for the Dsi?
There's other themes available. I use the 3DS one that's available right in the twilight menu settings.

Hey just finished doing your tutorial, could you possibly do a video of changing the region of the modded dsi system via whatever method you like? I cant find any videos on changing the region and Im scared to follow a text tutorial. My main goal is to play my pokemon collection on the DSI for the ds games and ofc theyre region locked, etc.. I'd appreciate it!

I wanted to have a stock or as close to stock as possible english menu on my dsi LL and last time I tried none of the methods worked at all and the best I could do was change language to english but it would reset every reboot, i'll give it another try but honestly the japanese menu does not bother me all that much, I decided too keep my 3ds in stock japanese as I have another european 3ds xl

My japanese Dsi xl or ll enters the camera app and freezes there. Sometimes the screen keeps flashing, even after rebooting. It does not work. It is on version 1.4.4J. Any advice please? I followed exactly what is done in the video.
Try updating your dsi version and if that doesn’t work then your system is likely already bricked
@@EvanTetro Thanx by the answer, I found the solution! I hope this helps someone trying it in the future: if your Dsi shows the facebook icon in the pictures (camera, gallery) menu, you should use a specific pit.bin file, you can find it in this video description link.
Also: I tried with 4 microSd cards, only 1 worked: the small 4gb one. The other bigger ones did not work with the japanese dsi.
Question for the SysNAND Region should I also change that to usa or Leave it in Japanese
Leave the SysNAND region in japanese. It’s not worth modifying it and risking a nand brick. Only modify the SDNAND or EmuNAND region

Well i got mine for 15 bucks and i didn't know it was the Japanese one and, from all the shops i went to, none was as low as $15

You can just format the console so you can switch the language and region easy

Some games they have a multi language option but some are stuck on Japanese and can’t be changed

If you want to do "Hacking Stuff" then this is a good thing. However. If you just want to play your real Games there is no need. The DS is Region Free and you are in the DS Menu for like 1 second anyway.
wait i don't understand how are you able to display the dsi main home menu(like where the main apps are located like the camera, sound etc) in ENGLISH?
i can't understand how did you do that...cause i already install twilightmenu and unlaunch on mine but the twilightmenu is the only one in eng...i want the main home menu to be in ENGLISH too so i can understand how to use the settings....
