Man, that break was heartbreaking to watch after how strong of a performance it had in the kill test. By far one of the deadliest weapons I have seen shown. However, it sadly broke so easy during the strength test that it would also be deadly to a user in the right situation. I am really glad for the other competitor though!
The thing is about this show. You can either make a well balanced blade or a block of a blade. First to win your blade gotta survive, then it has to feel good and then it has to be pretty. The second guy just went all out on surviving the tests xd
I love seeing a father-son relationship that is that strong. I miss my dad so much. We both love bladesmithing and antique tools. There's a lot of fond memories. 🥰🤗😢
*That other blade cut so beautifully. I've seen alot of clean cuts, but for some odd reason this one was the best I've seen. That's damned hard luck on the strength test.*
Man hearing the judge say “it felt like a good blade” right after snapping it, made me imagine him as a 17YO High Schooler telling her dad that his sports car drove real good right before bending it around a telephone pole. 😆
Ive noticed the judges have three settings for what they say and what that means. 1) You hear them go nuts over how light and well balanced it is, how easily it cuts, etc. Thats when you know you made a superlative weapon and have already won the competition. 2) They say nothing in detail other than a general message about how "yep, its sharp" This means you made an acceptable weapon with no real flaws but its not a masterwork by any means. Good chance at victory. 3) They mention its downsides. Weight, bad grip, bad balance, etc. You are going to lose unless the other guys weapon breaks.
Whoever is making these titles needs to find a different job. The sword failed in the Strength test, but also, why would they tell us that a blade breaks?
sad thing is that while brutal, this strength test functionally simulates using it as a tool for several days or weeks. So... it'd probably have failed like this if used for real, just not the first time used.
As a gun and blade-lover, it hurts everytime I see a weapon suffers a catastrophic failure like that. However, it must be the purpose of the tests to measure the strength and weakness of each blade.
This new member talks so sweet and tactful, making the contestants feel not that bad even their sword broke, so glad that he is respecting everyone and not always hurt them with “you did not make the cut”
Hilarious how the man that lost was laughing when the other guys Pira didn't slice through the kill test like his did but in the end, the beard had the last laugh.
If they're running out of blades you could always make Salahudinn's sword, San Martín's sword, a facón, an urumi, a bardiche, a trident, a pilum, a hoplite's lance, arrow heads, a harpoon, a flail, and more! We want more!
They did bardiche already XD, I think they also did some version of the flail. But I agree there are MANY more weapons available. I think this may have been a special because the last time they didn't get to test it at all.
They already did the Sword of Saladin. We could still see a pollaxe, a yari, a kreigsmesser, a longsword (can you believe they haven't done a proper longsword in the entire run?), a qiang, a miaodao, a Dacian falx, a spatha, a seax, the list goes on.
Ok, what I don't like is that regardless of the result it seems rude to ask them to leave the forge just like they have done something disgraceful. Why can't they both stay and declare the champion? That "please leave the forge" or "we ask you to leave the forge" seems like being kicked out.
Ouch! I feel for the guys that produce a great weapon only to watch it fall apart. Watch this every Friday from 1pm til into the morning on DEFY channel.

It sure did a vicious job on that meat target, a shame it broke. It was also a good looking piece.

Well I didn’t expect the guy who passed the Kill test with flying colors to be the one who have fail.

He didn't pass the kill test, he passed the "keel" test!
@King Smokes How can you use a sword if it's already broken in the strength test?? Duhh
@KingSmokes If you've watched this show often enough, you know that any time a smith has to do a second quench. It's usually a bad sign.
Umm, did the person above me comment on the wrong thing or is it some new type of scam tactic?

4:23 We saw that the pork cut like a razor blade is perfect. But the sword broke in the end. Sad to see this.
I was born in Kennett, M.O.. Proud to see a fellow Missourian win this challenge!! It is the "Show Me" state, and he did show us.

When the blade breaks, obvious winner.
the mustache guy's blade is perfect, no one would want to kill their target that fast

Mystery because strength test materials are very random, like ice blocks, bamboo stacks, steel plates, whiskey barrels, and the gong
That was a looney tunes level of failure.
The sword turned the peg into shawarma "your weapon will kill"
Failure was during the Strength test not the Kill test like the title says
