He was a phenomenon when he first came on the scene, but he actually got better through the years. Through all the fame he still committed himself to his craft and got better. It’s always nice to see an artist maintain that kind of dedication
The thing that impresses me the most about Yngwie and other masters isn't the speed. It's their knowledge and mastery of the entire fretboard. They can go up and down in every key imaginable. Never ceases to blow me away.
I can't get over how humble he is here...he's not shitting on other styles..just explaining his thought process...his musical theory is amazing....he is totally unique...God bless him...
Yngwie isn`t a shredder guy he is a ROCK MAN, all his sound and live performance is much more than just playing fast. he is an artist. Noone beats him till today/
THEE Maestro!!!! My dad was a guitar player all his life and tried to get me into it and I wasn't interested in it. That all changed in 1984-85ish when I walked in to my friends apartment and he had Black Star jamming on the stereo. That moment changed my life! I remember saying " I had no idea a guitar could be played like that!" Thank you, Yngwie!!!! I love you man!
When I discovered when Rising Force came out, that he was playing bass, my mission statement approaching bass guitar became different. I challenged myself to learn the bass to every song on that album. THAT'S what I love so much about Yngwie.. he inspires one to BE better.. can't go wrong with that in mind.
6:57 might be one of the best Yngwie Q&A's of all time. Are you just doing straight alternate picking? "Not when i go to different strings!" What do you do? "uhm, i don't know... actually, i don't, haven't looked at that, but we can look at it" Pure genius. Yngwie is the best to ever pick up a guitar IMO
Paganini didn't write his 24 caprices thinking "less is more". Dont get me wrong, I love all the great guitar players, but if they all had the same motto of less is more, music would be boring. Yngwie is already a legend and his legacy will be cemented with the likes of his major influences in baroque, romantic, and classical music.
I love how it sounds like he's picking every single note at ludicrous speeds. And then to see a close up of his picking hand and realize it's mostly hammers and pulls is utterly amazing. Wow yngwie will always be a legend
Apart from having the most astonishing technique, you are the least pretentious and most amusing of all the greats. Thank-you. As for the lesson? We live in hope.
In just one simple ideea...you mister are and still be remaining..the best guitarist in the world.! ...greetings from a huge fan from : Romania. that ..strat its a dreamy guitar.
Love or hate his work, 5:42 is great advice. If you know what you want to sound like, you can work towards it. Not satisfied? Identify what works and what doesn't and move on ahead!
I recently changed strings on my Ibanez RG (lowest action of all my guitars) and had to do a neck adjustment. I thought "let's raise the action like Yngwie said" , wow the sustain and tone!!! I definitely had it too low and was choking the string vibration. I was lucky to take some private lessons with a Mr. DC of DC custom guitars and feel like a part of the shred brotherhood!
Thank you for sharing the difference between "boxed-in" arpeggios and linear arpeggios (as in violin, viola, violoncello, upright bass, acoustic bass and bass fiddle). I have been trying to teach these different ways of playing over many years.
I will say this that scalloped fretboard does contribute to his speed and smoothness. He'd be incredible without it, it's certainly not a crutch but it definitely does help
always found it interesting how Django and gypsy players use the phrygian dom on the 5 as well w the diminshed arps and triad inversions as w bach and lots of other classical and bebop players..music is such a world language. lots of it comes down to phrasing, how u do it and what's the drummer doing, what's the feel underneath etc
At the start of the video I was like, oh I forgot to dial RUclips player back to normal speed from x1.5, and then I saw that no it's actually on normal! Amazing Metal Maestro
That's " Ferrari " Fast 💥✨✨✨✨🏎 . Accurate and Note For Note to True Classical Arpeggio's . J.S Bach , Vivaldi .... etc . No One Has Ever Played Like Yngwie J Malmsteen Before . Many Copy Cats . But Copy Cats Can't Produce Original Compositions .
His secret? Learn music theory inside and out. Ya gotta know what youre playin. Learn the fretboard and apply the theory. Practice like 10 hours a day. Its that simple if ya wanna be a legend. You gotta play until its right.
If you thinking he is not the best guitar player of all time just watch him with Steve Vai Zach Wilde nino Bettencourt on the generation tour they couldn't keep up they don't even sound like a guitar player next to yngwie the guy is amazing no one will ever play like yngwie malmsteen
He was a phenomenon when he first came on the scene, but he actually got better through the years. Through all the fame he still committed himself to his craft and got better. It’s always nice to see an artist maintain that kind of dedication
His picking movements are as economical as you can get. One of the smoothest pick hands I have ever seen.

The older I get, the more I love Yngwie. Reignited my love for the harmonic minor and diminished scales
He is no ordinary human. His thought process is another level. Thanks for taking the time to teach us YJM.
Thank you for posting this. Every lesson helps. We can't get enough.
Just grateful to be on this planet when Yngwie Malmsteen came along.

His vibrato is still stunning.
People that don’t like Yngwie don’t know him.... he’s cool AF and a top notch player and treats people well.

That first riff blew my face off, amazing!
Still ripping our heads off, even hard rock blues playing that pretty much smokes everything out there. Salute Maestro!

It never ceases to amaze me just how good Yngwie really is. He is an absolutely brilliant musician.✌
The brilliance of master Yngwie and his scalloped neck.. Amazing 👏
Phrygian Dominant ---- most favorite scale I use in all my music i produce from Guitar to Electronic ---- love it!!! YM huge influence til this day!
I have watched this video so many times when I first started learning advanced guitar playing. This really help me with my playing.

Wow ! Been listening to Ywgwie since the Steeler record and he still blows me away ! Incredible 🤘
The Master, the One and Only
Yngwie for the President of the Republic of Guitar players around the globe!
8 hours a day 7 days a week I still could not play like him. Absolutely a incredible guitarist
When I first heard malmsteen I thought this has got to be the limit I was blown away how he is this good I still can't comprehend he's is in 7 billion
Interviewer: "What do you call that style of picking?"
Yngwie: "I don't know"
😂
I've always been a basic guitar player. Blues and country but have been getting into your videos lately. Thank you for posting. I appreciate it.

I like how he runs through his playing style like it's nothing when it's really something!
“Whatever comes out soundin’ bitchin’” words to live by honestly
Truly amazing. Thank you Yngwie for your contribution to guitar playing. Learn alot from you. God bless.
Yngve, kjempeartig å høre om teknikkene dine, og historiene bak.
Espectacular,grande, Maestro!!!👏👏👏
35+ years a fan, and still get blown away watching his playing, Gods do walk amongst us.
Yngwie is one of them.
What a GREAT teacher! Thanks for this!
THE BEST pionner of neo classique guitar
"Looks like you are knitting" I love that. Your right hand hardly moves. Its all from your fingertips.
Scalloped frets too help with lightning speed and practices the ear to press the frets just right so the note is at the correct pitch.
Oh man, Yngwie packs into 10 minutes what other instructional videos would take 1 hour to do. And the content is brillant.
Stunning performance from the Miestro!
Me: How do I play fast?
Yngwie: Just do this.....!!
We love YJM -
Keeping it cool - Thanks an Irish man in Kobe Japan 🤟

At first I did think the video was speed up for about 1.5 times, but it wasn't, he is playing that fast in reality!
Absolutely Phenomenal!!!!!!!
