Probably the best ever Andy MacKay display on Tenor sax on 'A Song For Europe' I've ever seen (and I've been watching Roxy live since 1973) truly brilliant.
That would have been a beautiful concert of Roxy I have seen every concert of Roxy music around the world there's no other music that come close to the greatness of Roxy
Fantastic! I was lucky enough to see Roxy Music in Chicago during what turned out to be their final tour (2001). I'll never forget it. A literal once in a lifetime deal for me.
Great memories, I was at this concert, it was the day I started to appreciate Roxy Music. So much raw energy, loved every minute. Watching it now brings it all back.
I love watching Roxy Music. I only saw the band once and I was a little wasted so I had very little memory of the show. I saw them years later again, but I was far from the stage and the auditorium was large. I have seen Bryan Ferry solo three times.
If any novices (like myself) are wondering, these are the songs played: 1. The Bogus Man 2. Trash 3. Rain, Rain, Rain 4. Flesh and Blood 5. Oh Yeah 6. A Song for Europe 7. My Only Love 8. The Thrill of It All 9. Do the Strand 10. Editions of You 11. Jealous Guy.
you open with bogus man cause its fast, loud and jazzy; and gets you warmed up! I wish I cold get a live version of The "thrill," from this store. Phil M's solos and fills on "Thrill," some of the best I've ever heard! Thanks for posting. Similar to Belew playing live with Bowie on Station to Station in 78 and 90. For the uninitiated see him this year, with Oliver Thomp. best soloist he's played with since Manz. He rips! OPD rules!!
Vintage Roxy post Eno-thanks for posting this a total classic. Roxy Music was two completely different bands I get sick of people trying to compare them.Eno had to leave for his sake and Roxy always was Ferry-Eno couldn't exist in Roxy Music.Eno was like Neil Young in CSNY yah they were a supergroup but they were much better as two separate artists.
Ha my friends and I were there too. We always remember that gig. Roxy had won some award for the best European gig or presentation or tour or something like that. I remember the annoying thing about that period- if you didn't follow the music press all the time you could miss a tour! No internet then
gracias por compartir ! me gusta que en los paises qe no son de habla inglesa Bryan es mas teatral en su performance. Excelente la version de Jelous Guy , con el vibrato tipico de el.
Thanks for putting these concerts up just great nostsalgia for fans alike depending on those that were at the recent concerts and expecting the group to sound like they did back then knowing that will neverhappen in Their 70’s which is unjustifibable enjoy the concerts as they are and as Roxy Music as in Bryan Phil Andy & Paul . Isn’t it l better to have loved n not have lost . I have read read some of the comments about their voices well about Bryan’s voice I just hope they can sing as good Bryan when 77 😢 I thought listening to his vocals at these shows was fine unless up in the clouds I find the 3 Aren in Dublin is kind of ehco’ed at simplybred a few years back no fault of theirs it needs plenty of musicians to build up the sounds the space
I even had the pleasure of having a smalltalk with Bryan the day before the concert. Nichtsdestotrotz scheint er in Dortmund in der Tat in good mood gewesen zu sein, war auch die Zeit in der er langsam über Jerry hinwegkam ;-)

Why is "My only love" so unknown ? sure other musicians are aware of Roxy's brilliance and give them their just due, but probably just 1% of the population know of this song and it is better than anything released in the last decade !
They gave the fans a solid 10 years of thoughtful , original albums . Im not sure live shows were the best setting for what they did , but their albums were very polished .
besides main three - Gary Tibbs, Andy Newmark, Neil Hubbard, Paul Carrack Keyboards, David Skinner Keyboards on selected dates, Michael Dawe Drums On Selected Dates...
On this video it's Michael Dawe on drums. I saw Roxy at the beginning of 1981 in N.Z. and was very disappointed that neither Paul Thompson nor Andy Newmark was on drums. It was Michael Dawe when I saw them and in spite of an impressive C.V. he wasn't up to the standard of PT or AN. On this video he does some pretty good playing.
When I saw them early 1981 it was David Skinner on keyboards/backing vocals, Gary Tibbs on bass and Neil Hubbard on guitar. Neil Hubbard had a very different style from Manzanera and switched between rhythm and lead guitar.

So it was just 12 days after assassination in NY. Right?
Fantastic! I was lucky enough to see Roxy Music in Chicago during what turned out to be their final tour (2001). I'll never forget it. A literal once in a lifetime deal for me.
Saw Toronto on that tour, Chris Spedding on guitar with Phil. The band was brilliant all night and I was 10 feet from Brian Ferry.
I was at the shoe at the Rosemont.

Golden age of Roxy Music, pinnacle of their live act.

Love Roxy, never saw this before...thanks for posting. Absolutely love it! Miss the 80's

Definitely! Apart from the A/V quality, this is such an excellent concert!

April 2020 here.

8. The Thrill of It All
9. Do the Strand
10. Editions of You
11. Jealous Guy.
This is incredible. Thanks for posting it.
Saw this in Gröna Lund (outdoor concert), Stockholm, the same year. Great memory. Flesh and blood is a somewhat forgotten masterpiece.
I agree . The tracks on that album is brilliant.
I love it especially the thrill of it all !
This ending is epic. If it really was the first time them performing Jealous Guy, German television should search for any original recordings!
Performed just 12 days after Lennon was shot.
Historic, så raw and emotional at empersonal level. Very unlike Bryan.

My only love wasn’t even a single (oh yeah, over you, same old scene were singles). It is such a brilliant song! Their best song!

"The Thrill of it All"?...by the look and sound of them it was probably cocaine...awesome performance!
Madness and stupidity to have a second guitarist with Phil Manzanera around, and have them do a solo too.
That is not just a guitarist. That is amazing guitarist. Who played the solo on Can’t let go! And listen to his performance of “my only love” on the live cd of the avalon tour!
Neil Hubbard -
