    The Chinese suffered the 2nd highest total casualties next to the Soviet Union. Not many know this. The video seemed to provide a conservative number for military casualties, but keep in mind many millions of civillians who died due to military causes are likely to be forgotten.

      There are a lot of army groups in China. The Northern Sichuan army, province part of China, one of the poorest part of China; one battalion, only had enough grenades to support 1-4 American or German soldiers. So, the Sichuan army, fought by the hand with broadswords, spears and long bows. The Central Army group took part in major battles, like Shanghai, a bit of Nanking, Wuhan, and etc. While army groups like, the communist new fourth army, 8th route army, or Nationalist northern Sichuan army, fought in small guerilla battles in villages, and mountains, and not really in the major international cities.

      Sharar S.A. What you said is not true. In fact it was quite the other way around. The allied force namely US And UK often don't care about China and the fact that it needs to fight Japanese in their territories while demanding Chinese force to respond to US/UK's need.
      Also if China didn't do enough to fight the Japanese, US can forget about the kia they got in their battles, because the Japanese can easily used forces in China to to reinforce those in the pacific. So it is exactly because China held its ground and hold the Japanese down. So quit yapping about China not doing enough, it because western historian just don't care about the history in this part of the world.

Resumed shortly after their surrender until 49 when the communists emerged victorious. You think the generalissimo Chiang Kai Shek would step down peacefully if he had the independent China backing him instead of the real world situation where he only has a U.S. supported Taiwan where the U.S. can cut off that support if they wanted to and was simultaneously threatened by CCP from mainland so they can't afford to lose U.S. support? I don't know. I think the alternate Chiang of mainland China would simply keep his militaristic and fascist ways because the U.S. can't afford to alienate him too much and risking Chiang's China to turn towards Soviet in this alternate universe. At the end of the day, I think we would simply have a "Capitalism with Chinese Characteristic" instead of "Communism with Chinese Characteristic."

    The USSR still provided aid through volunteer brigades such as the Soviet Volunteer Group of the Soviet Air Force (1937-1940). So technically, the bit at 1:05 is a bit inaccurate as the Kuomintang accepted Soviet aid due to the Sino-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact on April 21st, 1937.

    The cartoon is incorrect. In the begining, the Chinese Communist army actually came out of KMT party, so they both dress the same, even the Communist still uses KMT's national emblem. So the cartoon with the Communist army wearing red emblem on their hats and red collar insignia is incorrect. When the red army later had their own uniform, they did put a red star on every soldier's hat and red collar insignia.

The Communist army only started removing the KMT emblem after they failed the peace talk with the KMT government. • @Imperator_-sl4zu

    This video represents a very common misunderstanding of the Second Sino-Japanese war, and everybody worldwide somehow believes in this myth,
    The KMT were NOT as unwilling and incompetent as it is told to be,
    And in fact it was the CPC that were backstabbing and evading combat all along.
    The KMT was unorganized and indeed corrupt, and had multiple issues over control of the armies with disagreeing warlords, but they were the ones who did a vast majority of the fighting in war, and each Chinese victory and military strength that allowed it to last 8 years against a more modernized and organized army was made possible by the speechless contributions of the KMT. They actually became skilled in combat of years of experience.
    The CPC 's contribution to war is heavily exaggerated. Mao Zedong himself was focused on expanding communist influence upon China more than combat. He secretly made anti-agression agreements with Japan, promised he will cease all guerilla attacks on Japanese railways. He was guarenteed on being spared from upcoming Japanese attacks in return.
    One time he criticized his general Peng Du Huai for striking a major offensive on the Japanese, and demanded not to repeat such actions without question , stating that the armed forces he had accumilated could have been used against the KMT, but he instead used them in a more 'trivial' matter.

    • @ex0duzz
      @ex0duzz 5 лет назад +3

      Ridiculous anti communist propaganda and historical revisionism. Mao never made deals with Japanese against KMT, and if he did it would have been to double cross the Japanese. Mao did make deals for ceasefire with KMT so they could focus on the Japanese invasion, that is fact rather than your historical revisionism. Mao and CCP played it smart with guerrilla warfare and asymmetric warfare, basically writing the modern day "art of war" for revolutionary war.

      Im not necessarily saying that the Chinese won the war for the allies. all i'm saying is that it's a lesser talked about part of ww2 and it's cool for simple history to talk about it!
      But in reality, their main contribution was their fighting of the Japanese. They fought back for so long. And just imagine what would have happened if all those soldiers were freed from fighting in China. They would have had much more power at their disposal and could have invaded Australia! Even if that failed, all those men could have seriously bogged down the Americans in their island hopping campaign.

    • @asterisk4163
      @asterisk4163 7 лет назад +6

      Yizheng Ji Gu France was not the first one to surrender, Poland is, following with Belgium, you have to give it to France that they were actually fighting Germany on land, with inferior equipments and without environmental advantages like Soviet Union did. They lost the war because they were not prepared for mobile warfare, but trench warfare, they did not expect Germany to go around the Rhine. Even after the surrender French resistance assisted the allied invasion on 1944 greatly in delaying German reinforcements.
      United States, as you said they left their harbour with no defences is because they were NOT IN WAR when the Japanese attacked, nor did they expected a war with Japan while they are busy helping Britain. And to note the day Japan attacked pearl harbour most of the military personnel were on holiday, that’s why many weren’t in battle stations to defend against enemy aircrafts, and to note that United States although did not do most of the fighting (Soviet Union did) they are crucial in winning the war. They were the only nation with no factory in danger, they shipped munitions and food all across the world, to Britain, to Soviet Union and even China, Soviet Union got many of their munitions and weapons off from United States supplies, without United States supplies Soviet Union could have lost at the battle of Moscow.
      When the soviets marched towards Berlin, Hitler and his high rank officers planned to relocate German high command to the west as far as France. But it was the allies that broke that idea, if weren’t for the allies landing on the Normandy beaches the war would have continued on and many more would have died.

    2. Highly developed Manchuria(by Japanese) was occupied by the soviet union and they give it directly to the PLA, since than, the PLA kept receiving used Japanese and Russian weapon for the civil war.
    There are actually more, but in a nut shell, lets say the word "disorganize" is just an understatement of the republic army.

    The Chinese Communists hardly fought the Japanese at all during WWII. They only fought the Japanese forces in very few instances to expand their own territory. They even helped the Japanese to gather intel about Chiang/KMT forces to call truce between them because ultimately Mao's enemy was Chiang, not the Japanese. The Communists was nearly wiped out by the KMT until the Xi'an Incident which forced the KMT to draw truce between the two Chinese forces. The 8-year war against the Japanese damaged the KMT forces but helped the Communists rebuild their strength. Mao even once said that he was thankful of the Japanese for invading China, otherwise he would've never succeeded against Chiang and ruled Mainland China.

    The forgotten front of WW2. It would've been so cool to see a video game have the Chinese armies. My grandfather was a child during the Japanese invasion of China and his family went into hiding. So seeing my ethnicity in a video game would be so cool.

    2:34 when the narrator was discussing about Chinese forced conscription, I immediately think about my grand uncle. He was conscripted into the army at that time through kidnapping, according to my grandmother. Unfortunately, he never made it home and to this day, we still don't know where his remains are.

    When I wrote a paper on the Second Sino-Japanese War or Pacific War, Chiang Kai-shek was given 97% of US aid and all he did was hoard it to prepare himself for the continuation of the Chinese Civil War. The Chinese Red Army earned less than 3% of US Aid in military goods and were far more successful than the KMT in guerrilla warfare tactics and this led to gaining significant popularity among the peasant population, that is why when the Chinese Civil War began, though out-gunned, with the support of the peasants, the Chinese Red Army were able to garner a swift victory in China.
