Hello. I actually work at Manheim and I can tell you the prices the dealers are paying at wholesale is up significantly. They have to pass those costs along at retail. Sometimes the margins are really thin.
manheim is a joke. Just don't use them at all. Few years of people not going to their auctions they go bye bye.

This is probably the major reason wholesale prices are bordering retail prices.
The key piece of information missing is you have no idea what the dealer actually pays at the auction. They can say they paid whatever they want. Manheim condition reports are far from accurate. You need to physically look at the vehicles and run them down the test track. Also they have a thing called deal shield. It is a gurantee that if your customer doesnt like the vehicle you can return it. Some sellers include this on higher end nicer units
Having bought thousands of vehicles from Manheim auctions over 30 years I never bought one without a buy sheet showing all the info on the vehicle purchased. Not so easy to make up out of thin air. It's simple. Do your homework, know the market, bid accordingly.

@@immigranthustlemind8655 after you pay for the vehicle you will receive a sheet showing ALL sales and car info. As far as the condition of the car goes they do pre sales inspections on a vast majority of their vehicles. Pretty reliable. You can also pay a small fee and get a warranty. Of course I retired 4 yrs ago and things change. I loved what I did.

Dealers are marking these more expensive trucks and cars up at least 5k. It pisses me off the dealers are crooks.
It's not too expensive to get.your own wholesale or retail license, I've had mine for years using my home address...
