      I loved season 1 and 2. Season 3 was good but 4 and 5 were phenomenal. Season 6 really was good but started to do bullshit cliffhangers and cheap fakeouts. Season 7 was meh and season 8 was trash. Season 9 was amazing though. But no matter how good it is the show lost its soul since amc are going to milk this thing till its dry.

    I think Shane seeing the zombie walking alone is just symbolism of him realizing that no matter what happens next he truly is a alone at this point of the show.

      @MrLeroy42 5 лет назад +280

      420GreyWorm2187 Yes. I agree. I think it means that he is alone in the sense of not being with Lori or Carl AND that he is the only one who adapted to this new world the fastest. In later seasons Rick is just like Shane. Shane just adapted to the new world faster and with his obsession with Lori and Carl and his quicker adaption and able to kill so easily ultimately led him to his death. Sad story but Shane helped build the show and Ricks character. Rip Shane.

    If this scene emotionally triggers you, you're going through some shit, or youve been through it. The symbolism of the single zombie, trekking his way through the fields alone aligns with Shanes journey. Misunderstood, forever moving against the tide, the outcast. Shane was a product of the shit hands some people get handed out. The despair you can feel while trekking through this life on your own is overwhelming. Its not fair, but nothing is to be expected as so.

  • @sarahmonique5321

    This scene is powerful, but truthfully, this entire episode was saying so much in so many diff ways, esp with foreshadowing. After Rick & Shane fought at the school (or whatever building that was), Shane looked up at his reflection in the broken glass and he didn't recognise himself. He looked like a walker. Then there was Rick saving Randall, having turmoil over it; compare season 2 Rick to season 5 Rick and the transformation is just...amazing.
    Season 2 was about them whiteknuckling it with their humanity as well as that of others. They did a great job with the meager budget they had and they had to focus on the writing, character development, and they actually *thought* about the plot, unlike later seasons. Now, I love TWD, all of it, but once they introduced the governor, some of their (producers & writers) decisions didn't make any sense. I realize the governor was a part of the comics, but after introducing him as the villain, he (unfortunately) opened the door for Negan b/c it was obvious the comic book author AND those behind the scenes at TWD wanted to top the governor.
    Truthfully? Shane wasn't a villain. I hated him yrs ago when I first saw the show, but once u rewatch the old episodes, u see a guy cornered in a situation that would make anyone lose their minds. Watching this scene makes my heart ache for this character and what the show used to be in terms of writing, etc

I think TWD survivors think the same. Anybody alive that late in the game to see Negan is pulling "Shane-isms" for lack of a better word. All the good boys died by the end of season 2. Shane's philosophy is really the backbone of TWD. If it weren't for his delusional obsession with Lori he'd eventually rule the apocalypse. Negan who?

    This is was the not turning back moment for Shane, he was wrong and yet we can understand how he felt. He could have changed his ways right there a become a different man but at the same time he knew that he would't let Judith call Rick "dad" so as he sees that lonely walker he knows that, from that moment he is on is own (and the scenarios start playing in his head), he had two choices, left them (just how he wanted it to be ar first) or kill his friend and tell the others it was Randall, sadly he choose the second one and that ended with his death because at that point Rick was also not the same man he used to be. How crazy humans can change when there is not a law to punish them is what made this series one of the best

    This was the walking dead, all the feelings, the atmosphere, I just keep coming back to this scene, it means a lot to me, it's the first time I fell in love with this world, the stories in it, the feelings it generates in you, it's something really special, it was a story that continued and had a meaning If you watched all the episodes non-stop they felt connected, like watching a film franchise like Harry Potter. For me that feeling of history ended in season 9, after that it's just the franchise moving forward, after that there were no cinematic shots like there were in this early seasons or the following ones. It lacked meaning, I don't feel the love and the care I get from this season, I just feel empty with the last few seasons. It feels like just a show that had to continue, that's why you love the first 4 or 5 seasons, they were meaningful, they carry meanings, values, they left you with something when you finished each episode, it was magical, they were incredible times when these episodes aired back in 2011. They were real, we have important characters, who we will always miss, Glenn, Hershel, even Shane, and dale. The second season gave us that, and this scene and this episode gave me everything I ever wanted in a series, a world where I could get lost and believe what happens, it is my favorite season. and my favorite and most iconic scene from the series, the ozymandias of the walking dead.❤ I miss this show, what it was.

      I can keep going, too. Taking the risk to go to Fort Benning? Wrong. Refusing to save the people trapped in Atlanta? Wrong. Blaming Rick for the people who died at the campsite even though he brought back guns necessary for their survival? Wrong. Killing the walkers in the barn? Right in principle, wrong in practice. It was entirely due to Hershel's understanding that that didn't lead to a violent conflict.
      Killing Randall? Finally! Something he was right about. Unsurprisingly, the writers had to ruin Rick's character for a bit in order to make Shane look like he had a point. But even leaving that out of it, he still managed to undercut the only truly right thing he did by turning it into his plot to kill Rick.
