Having a cliffhanger ending to keep the fans interested was worth it, and it was still a very awesome, scary, and enjoyable episode. I love how they really embrace the more than likely true certainty that if it all came crashing down like in TWD, any of us could be the gov. That's just the truth. In todays society, we could not fathom his loss, nor pretend to ever be that alone. The show really does a great job at showing their are no heroes when civilization ends, there are only villains. What kind of villain you are all depends on perspective and what you'll do to live. But make no mistake, the heroes are all dead.

I love how much better The Governor is portrayed in the TV series. In the comics he's portrayed as a depraved, deceitful psychopath (could be partly compared to Trevor Phillips from GTA 5, but only partly) who hides under the mask of "a kind, caring leader of community", while in TV series was a casual family man who experienced death of a close relative even before the dead didn't stayed dead. In TV series he was portrayed much better, and i've read all comic issues and seen each and every season three times.

Anyone could go mad like he did living in that world, fighting to live, losing everyone you love and know, trying to build something again and having people depend on you... i think its very easy for the darkness in one's heart to slowly take over. Milton said once he knew him before everything happened and that he was different. And this song did a great job at opening up my mind. Its become one of my favorites.

I think The Governor, Negan, and Alpha are the best villains for their places in the show. The Governor comes along when it still feels like the "end of the world." He's a man who lost everything in the fall and became viscious and psychotic in the process, and only cares about enacticing pain on those he believes wronged him, even to his own detriment. Negan, on the otherhand, comes along during the reconstructing of communities, when the characters are not only surviving, but rebuilding, and he's a man who threatens that construction with his own view of the best way the new world should be built. But as we see, he still finds the value in Rick's way after the fact, because they have the same end goal, just different methodologies. Alpha comes along, however, with a completely different society built from the fall. It's developed on an entirely different path than the society built by the other survivors, and there's no hope for any reconcilliation. Now it's like two developed warring nations built in the ruins of the world.
    That's just my take, though.

"And I ask for no redemption..." Ironically, he threw it away for his revenge, losing everything again. But I think, he was a great antagonist and Rick sometimes was in Danger becoming just like him.

Same thing with merle... his character started to become really likable.

This is still one of my favorite walking dead episodes. It built up the character of the governor so well to bring us to the point where we got to take this "side quest" from the group to see another mans story. The music was also so perfect. They put so much work and love into the character arc of the governor and how he collided with ricks group. We got to see him as the man he was and the man he wanted to be. Everything after this, albeit pretty good, just felt rushed compared to these "peak walking dead days" when facebook was full of posts and watch parties were a thing.

This is the apex of depression. It's somehow surviving past the point most people would kill themselves, and continuing to exist out of some numb disinterest. He burns down Woodbury as a partial suicide - killing the character of the Governor, which isn't himself. The only reason he doesn't actively try to kill himself is because he genuinely doesn't care.

One of the best secenes the governor is a true example of a good character he was totally broken. Dont get me wrong he was a phyco but he was driven crazy and his character really showed it he was just an awesome character even tho he was crazy he tried to be good but he jusy kept getting chopped down at his knees and driven even further to become he was. And his character really showed that in my opinion the governer was definitely one of the top 5 characters in all of twd
